The backgrounds in Hollow Knight are a ton of images layered over eachother, even in HK they are low resolution images to save resources obscured by blur which is fine because it looks great. It seems like in Silksong they've made it barely visible now though, I really hate it

This isn't an optimization. Switch 2 can run PNGs. They're blurring everything to improve readability for the game's frenetic combat and Hornet's faster speed. They've also made her dress far more red, a shade not shared by anything else onscreen. You can see this most with Lace's arena. They've also reduced the amount of overall visual clutter in the foreground. There are aspects of the before screenshot that look much better to me, but it's a still. The second is an improvement in most aspects which are not evident until you see both in motion. The scale and quality of assets have been seriously altered as well. I'm sure there's some degree of philosophical perfectionism that's delayed the game, too.

Rhetoric coming from? They announced ages ago it'll have around the same amount of enemies as HK, and so far no indication of a much bigger map/enemy count. There's many things devs can add to a game than just map size, I assume it'll be same size as HK (again, they said the enemy count) just more densely designed, and overall quite polished, with lots of side content/playstyles.

Easy if you can beat the bosses first go and know where to go. Like genuinely easy, you have a lot of leeway

As someone who really liked Hollow Knight on his first playthrough I can say that I wish Silksong didn't exist
Just thinking of Hollow Knight but larger gives me a headache
I did ALL of Hollow Knight I got all the charms, in it, it's bland I can't bring myself to replay it, it's too large and combat is too simple and there really isn't a lot of variety in your playstyle, it has pacing issues I don't mind the backtracking but it's such a drag that just making the same type of game but larger should not be a selling point
Production is cool and all but the game ultimately may be boring as shit considering it's the first metroidvania I don't want to replay at all

Do it anon it's fun, and much easier than what you've already done. You can even get away with dying during it. I think it was smart of them to make a cheevo like that, it encourages you to give the speedrun a try. Turns out I had a blast doing it and did it a few more times for kicks

Their game is cheap, their game is extremely high quality and appealing, their game is huge and filled with stuff to talk about, and its genuinely a cooler, more passionate and well executed project than the rest of the genre
Its a game that a ton of people wanted presented in a super full, super cheap package
