Xenoblade 3 is probably the worst game I've played since 2000

I don't get JRPGs. They're almost always very easy, the gameplay is interrupted constantly by cutscenes or something else, and the openings tend to be such slogs that it destroys the replayability unless you simply forget the entire game. I often feel like I am watching them far more than I am playing them. The SMT games are the only JRPGs I kind of liked.

The point of menu-based party-based JRPGs isn't the gameplay loop
It's the experience around it: battling as a party, improving your characters, exploring the world etc.
It's a casual genre to immerse yourself in

Kingdom Hearts of course has way better gameplay than some simple turn-based shit
KH2FM in particular has the best gameplay and mechanical depth on a JRPG ever, especially when you are playing on Level 1 Critical Mode

That is not to say that JRPGs should try to copy it since the low demanding turn-based gameplay is much more fitting to most JRPGs, but stop being a cringey old boomer and show some respect to fantastic games like KH1 and KH2 you cancerous tribalistic boomer.

The graphics and presentation and art style are the most important thing to a casual genre like this and it all went downhill with the PS1

There is no Jarpig on PSX that looks as pretty as Chrono Trigger or Seiken Densetsu 3
And no, Legend of Mana looks like butt with that horrid art style and Saga Frontier 2 has soulless looking NPCs

Final Fantasy downgraded from Amano to Nomura because they couldn't make Amano's designs look good in 3D

DQ7 looked horrible with that 2.5D art style

Breath of Fire 3 and 4 simplified the art style compared to 1 and 2
Gone were the detailed manga illustration designs in the boxart and menu portrait replaced with cheap flat-shaded simplistic shitty designs

Lufia games aren't that good, they are pretty mid
Lufia 2 has even less of a story
It dropped the ball considering that Lufia 2 is supposed to be a prequel to 1
But Lufia 2 is very different, it's extremely linear and the whole game is structured around puzzle dungeons basically
So I hope you like puzzles
There is also the Ancient Cave which is a randomly generated dungeon side-game within the game if you are autistic about that sort of shit

The only good JRPGs are the first two generations of Pokemon. Minimal story, cool creatures to collect, fun world to explore, and the ability to play against your friends. There's a reason why JRPG purists tend to dislike Pokemon--they're friendless losers who'd rather watch interactive anime than play fun games.

Pokemon is trash.
They just ripped off Akira Toriyama's monsters and took the whimsy out of them.

The concept was wasted on turn-based 1 on 1 battles which are mundane as fuck.
The anime was more fun to watch because you could see the pokemon using more unorthodox moves such as Squirtle using his water gun on the ground to propel himself upwards or Buizel countering Ice Beam with Aqua Jet and landing on his opponent.

It's sad how Pokemon never evolved.
If there is a franchise I would like to go from turn-based to action it's Pokemon. I always wanted to control the Pokemon directly on a 3D environment 1 on 1 battle.
Though I guess the battles would never be as fun as in the anime.

I don't get how you could think that, using full 3D backgrounds on PS2 in 98 was pretty wild. Some areas like Nocturne are difficult to look at after spending 5 hours there, but an area like Aveh would be impressive even if it were on a 64 bit console.
