Alright, here it is: I’ve been sitting on this for a while, but I guess it’s time to come clean. Yeah, I used to be that guy—out here raving about “SJWs,” getting pissed off anytime someone suggested diversity in games or talked about “gender equality.” I thought I had it all figured out. But, and this is hard to admit, I was full of shit. And it’s taken a lot of time, and a lot of wasted energy, to realize I was just parroting the same tired, regurgitated nonsense that was never going to make gaming better.

At some point, it hit me—maybe this "progressive" stuff isn't so evil after all. And I know, I know, that probably makes me sound like a hypocrite, but trust me, I didn’t come to this conclusion because some article on Twitter told me I was wrong. It wasn’t the mainstream media or some YouTube influencer that flipped the switch. It was realizing, over time, how shallow and defensive the “anti-SJW” stance was. We kept acting like inclusion was some kind of threat to gaming’s “integrity,” but all it really did was make us look like a bunch of whiny, entitled man-children who didn’t want anyone new in our club. What’s so wrong with different voices and perspectives? Why does a game have to have a bunch of white, male protagonists to be “authentic” or “classic”? It’s just lazy thinking.
