[Sad news]

wtf is going on over at nintendo

I guess its them training their audience to be comfortable with opening their wallets for everything that they want to use the console for

have to pay to use a button

have to pay to learn how to use the main menu

What else can they monetize, bros?

It's fine when sony puts their tutorial game at 60 euros

why the hell is this not just included with the console? that's like having to pay for the manual...

(you)

Having to pay to turn on the console (not just owning it)

im gay

We know anonymous

They asked to their American vice president and he said this

Astrobot is full price platformer game.
Astro Playroom is a free tech showcase.
You are mixing up two different games because they feature the same character

Monthly rent for the power cable?

have to pay for the power to press the power button

Nintodlers?? Help??
Also 4gay makes spelling it correctly think its spam, why are mods so gay?

They're reverting to their base form now that they're doing well again. Nintendo is good when they have to try because they're doing poorly, when they can coast they're the worst of the 3 and always have been. The Switch was only great because it was coming off the complete failure of the Wii U and the early 3DS funk.

I fucking hate capitalism

*Brapitalism

Because that game is digital only it should be $10 regardless. Since you know, digital products aren't subject to tariffs. Yet.

This isn't capitalism. In a true ancap society Nintendo wouldn't be protected from piracy by daddy government. If they wanted to fight piracy they'd have to arm up and hire a private merc group.

This did this with the Switch too, but instead charged $50. Technically the Wii U as well considering Nintendoland was only a pack in with the Deluxe Model. Nintendo's been doing this for three generations now, honestly I'm more surprised they aren't trying to sell this one at full MSRP too

The merc group is the last two words of your second sentence.

That guy is a full blown retard. Man, i cant wait for tarrifs to fuck him up.

They're baiting

"It's an interesting product,” Trinen began. “We're actually getting ready today, we're going to be doing some Nintendo Treehouse Live segments and covering a lot of games in detail. That's one of them. And I think people will be able to see through Treehouse Live probably a little bit more maybe than you were able to see on the show floor. It's a pretty robust piece of software. There's a lot of great detail in there."

“For some people, I think there are people who are particularly interested in the tech and the specs of the system and things like that, for them I think it's going to be a great product. It's really for people that want more information about the system rather than necessarily a quick intro to everything it does.

"And for that reason and just the amount of care and work that the team put into it, I think it was decided that, 'Yeah, this feels like $9.99 is not an exorbitant price. It feels like a good value for what you're getting out of the product.' "

I'm not following the logic. It costs money because....it's for people who are interested in how the system works
What
Huh

because of the tariffs

the fuck does that means
how can there be tariffs over something digital????

why. did. he. miss.

small indie company, pls be gentle

Don’t forget

pay extra if you aren’t from Japan

"Why?"

"Because we decided to."

I'm sick of these nothingburger answers

I just don't get why anyone cares about the tech demo thing. 1-2 Switch was paid too and it sold millions. Don't like it don't buy it.

And fans will eat it up
Like that answer they gave this morning over why the E-shop doesn't have music anymore

Because we don't want it to play over videos in the E-shop

Is this 1998???? We've had the technology to mute shit for 30 years now

Worse, he watched gun youtubers

If they wanted to fight piracy they'd have to arm up and hire a private merc group.

so they would wind up becoming the government, effectively making things no longer anarchy

Yea Bills got nothin, but the Japanese suits made the call so he's scrambling to justify it. Honestly almost feel bad for NOA on this one haha

He's saying it costs money because they didn't just shit it out like Astro's playroom doing the bare essentials to show off features, it's an actual game unto itself.

Is English not your first language?

just realized this means they are throwing NoA under the bus and giving zero fucks about their opinions
reggie fought tooth and fucking nail to get wii sports bundled in and his bet paid off despite nintendo being adamant about bundling in shit
something that carried over to mario kart over the course of the switch 1's lifespan
now they are not bundling in shit, which clearly indicates they don't give a shit about westoid opinions anymore

just realized this means they are throwing NoA under the bus and giving zero fucks about their opinions

That can be a good and a bad thing.

Maybe restoring male and female pronouns to Splatoon and Animal Crossing but we'll also have to deal with the occasional greedy practice.

something that carried over to mario kart over the course of the switch 1's lifespan

Which is wrong by the way, Wii Sports was the ONLY bundle between then and now that was bundled at no additional cost.
Also NoA's opinions were always worthless to the point where when they had a small amount of marketing control they started focusing predominantly on children while NoJ to this day still focuses on the core gamer audience and ever since the beginning of the switch era they've been marketing that way ever since

Wouldn't have happened had reggie been there. Doug's just and empty suit.

Reggie would have flooded it with microtransactions and made amiibo locked content.

go back to your [containment board] [nigger]

Terrible fucking bait bro

Still amazing that CNN and the best photographers in the world were present at the rally in bumfuck nowhere, under the guise that "maybe" the VP pick would be announced.

lmao. xbla games used to cost 10 bucks and they were way more fun than this 3d user manual

It's because they know their fanbase is full of retards who will happily pay for tech demos. They experimented with this with Wii Sports Resort and the retards ate it up. Then they had a full priced tech demo with 1-2-Switch and the retards ate it up. Selling the manual to the Switch 2 is the logical continuation, and it will be a multimillion seller.

He'll just pivot into you'll own nothing and be happy etc etc.

lock the analog sticks until you pay a 50 dollar unlock fee

Free bundle games are the only thing NOA has ever been right about, and there's no real indication that was NOA's doing rather than Reggie's specifically. If they aren't listening to those treehouse braindeaders that's one less source of stupidity.

And also not localized half the games coming out of Japan.

The fun part about this post is that absolutely none of it was correct.

Why are people acting like they HAVE to buy it?

I'm not sure if you're aware, but fucking noone bought 1 2 switch except youtubers who got paid to do it, and the game is still a punchline to this day. There's this perception that every nintendo game sells a million billion copies no matter what, but it's not true, plenty of ninty games with shitloads of marketing failed even on the switch.

nobody is gonna buy it, becuase it doesn't look fun

if Nintendo is proud of it, it's weird to charge money for something nobody wants to play unless it was free

I'm not sure if you're aware, but fucking noone bought 1 2 switch except youtubers who got paid to do it, and the game is still a punchline to this day.

It sold nearly 4 million copies.

They could sell the console without the power cablr and sell the power cable separately as an accessory. They literally already did that with the new 3ds xl

1-2 switch

full price

What?

It's fine when sony puts their tutorial game at 60 euros

their only game, too

Anon, you're talking about people who tried to petition the EU about a problem that could be fixed if they had the ability to read and say no.

It was $50 at release, and is still $50 now

That's... Not full price.
60 is full price.

NTA but full price is whatever the price they released it on market at
That's like saying no $70 is full price now because $80 games exist

What a nothingburger corporate statement. He can't even hide that he was given fuck-all to work with here. What a fucking fumble on every level.

Not having a traditional console anymore, and having a handheld to go along with it.

We had it good during the 3DS and Wii U era, and we just didn't realize it.

We could have all had the 4KDS after the HDS sold gorillions, and been excited for the Wii U 3.

$50 was full price for Switch at launch. Most games were released under $60.

Astrobot is full price platformer game.

That's the problem.

They kinda are keeping Japan afloat because they bring in so much money.

foreigners once again crying about trump

Tariffs are working boys

That's not how that works, full price is defined by the average msrp which was 60 at the time.
By your logic there's no such thing as full price because everything is full price it could be five dollars and it would still be full price or it could be 100 and it could be full price.
Also no 80 would be above the average msrp making it above full price while 70 is the average.

And you will buy it

Corporate greed.
All the people who used to tighten the leash either died or resigned.

I don't really care dude you do whatever your dumbass wants

Calling someone a dumbass after getting schooled only makes you look worse you know.

Let them pay the retard tax. Imagine needing a tutorial to use a console.
