You can easily explain away that shutting down the small studios under zenimax leads to increased potential value to bethesda, id, zenimax online, etc.
It's harder to explain why you shut down a studio like compulsion for cost saving measures because you bought the studio on it's own. You would have to admit that you fucked up and made a bad purchase.
