Undertale Yellow

Why wasn't there a wanted poster for Clover that you could find in the Wild East during Genocide? Such a massive wasted opportunity.

the devs simply didn't think about it, like everything else in the game

Requesting the ligma Steve jobs edit

you compliment the floofybrap

it's shy at first, but awkwardly accepts your compliment

why are these games so gay

I honestly think the ACT system is wasted potential, people say its a "puzzle" but there is always one way to get the enemies to surrender, and deltarune made it worse by making ACTs increase the mercy slowly so you spam the same ACTs over and over, should have just made it a spell system and beat enemies normally since you can't kill them in DR anyway

I want to skin Ceroba alive

He only included acts in Deltarune because that's the series's gimmick.

Why?

Yeah but it drags down the game a bit imo, and would probably have made development faster using a normal RPG fight system, since the "routes" barely change anyway, and snowgrave would still be possible

the ACT system is really fun. It turns UT/DR into a contextual RPG.
DR of course is way better with it as some ACTs directly change the fight or make you do a minigame. It makes every battle feel fresh

Yeah but it drags down the game a bit imo

At that its not Undertale anymore, its just any old RPG. That'd be like making a Portal game without the portals, or Mario without jumping.

Is it really still fun when you spam the same acts over and over for every enemy copy you find? This video touches on it somewhat youtube.com/watch?v=GfTmDk-7Bts

what makes it different from casting the most damaging spell in a JRPG or auto battling? It's not really that different but DR's combat system is funny

The obvious solution is to have more enemy variety.

With new Deltarune chapters coming over in a couple of months, should I replay Undertale? I haven't played it in almost a decade ago and I bought the Steam version a year ago. I was thinking of replaying the game for the 10th anniversary but that would be dumb.

Yes I played Undertale Yellow if you're wondering, but just beaten the pacific route

Why would replaying it be dumb?

I meant waiting until the 10th anniversary to replay it way after new Deltarune chapters came out, but worded it poorly

Seems like it'd be better to play now, since you'll probably be preoccupied with playing Deltarune then.

I suppose the interactions make it a bit funny but the time used on these can be used for more overworld stuff instead, as well as removing the alternate "routes" and have actually just a linear story, toby has mentioned he had a lot of trouble with the event system of chapter 1
But I guess with the team it should be easier to implement all that

if you feel like re-experiencing it maybe, but you might get burned out if you play it shortly around the time you do deltarune since the gameplay is similar

I'm surprised DRY didn't have that much impact, do fangames really need custom made music and graphics?

it's chud content and it's not that pretty because it's made by one guy

also the twitter kids hate kanaclover and Cole having his/him pronouns

It is still more playable than 90% of fan projects out there.

yeah but they don't care

undertale is irrelevant to deltarune

Good idea, I gotta figure out a good time to play it before then

Burning out may happen, but I feel like Undertale is a pretty short to feel burned out from one playthrough. Three is what I'm aiming for
I probably may not be able to play Deltarune at release date because I'm going to be busy with my college finals

he is unaware

he's desperate for money like the jew he is
undertale only adds theory fuel to deltarune

That's not really what I'm asking
Just revisiting the game for the first time in a nearly a decade to prepare for Toby's next game to see what things Toby has improved on, since Deltarune chapter 2 released when Undertale turned 7 years and now it's turning 10

he had the game on sale for a single dollar for like a month, he's not as voracious as I think you'd like to believe

Just run away once you exhaust an enemy?

you can't run away in deltarune

Finally defeated El Bailador on Pacifist yesterday
Fuck that fight

Loved that guy
DON'T TELL ME NOT TO DANCE, DAD

It had a decent impact for a fan game of a fangame as I saw the usual jewtoobers make videos on it, I mean I didn't watch any of them but the fact remains that they played it

The Dunes is really isolated from the rest of the Underground. The evacuation of the oasis was probably very recent when you got there.

gamejolt anon here
give it more time. Game downloads and views have been increasing.
Dry downloads have recently reached 5,000 downloads

ACTs in Deltarune are fine, they fill up pretty fast. Too fast in some cases, like Tasque Manager.

What makes it different from other JRPGs is that you don't even fight that much. Especially in Deltarune where you have preset enemies instead of random encounters, so you can just skip battles on overworld if you want.

might be a good idea just to refresh your skill. it has been over a year since we got yellow after all.

the problem with ACTSs in deltarune is that its mostly just brute forcing it.
at least in UT the order you have to do things in is kinda intuitive

I've been thinking if it's necessary for UT/DR fangames to have the same genre. What if DRY was an FPS game instead? The way I see it, it could be some kind of FPS/blobber hybrid where you play as your entire party and select party members instead of weapons. Gameplay won't even be much different, you will still be grazing projectiles

Two important questions is how to handle in-battle banter (probably just portraits with speech bubbles popping up at the top of the screen) and how to ACT. I guess for most basic enemies it will be just "point finger and hearts come out" at the cost of TP, while some enemies will require environmental interaction (like a neat freak miniboss will require you to clean up all trash on the arena).

damn everyone is at the other thread.

Hard to get deep into fangame discussion when the next official chapters are only a couple months away. Maybe that one janny autosaging these threads was just trying to help us save face.

Not even deltarune yellow could save this.

a shame, but to be expected.
probably best to sunset these for a few months anyways, let ideas build and fangame anons chip away at what they've got.
maybe the stupid temmie schizo will have killed itself by then too.

Tbf it's also like 2:00 am in burgerland

True, it could just be that this is just the late night chat

Im going to strangle you

The autosage stuff might make people less aware that someone from here released a fangame at all

i'd rather not. they arent that comfy.
filled to the brim with shit and ritual posters.

Then theres only one solution left, QUICK POST DELTARUNE YELLOW KANAKO.
