A component is the right word. An optional bit of the bigger experience. Duskbloods is entirely focused on multiplayer, however.

This is PvPvE, while Nightreign is a co-op.
So they are experimenting with both features that have existed for a long time to see if any improvements can be made.

Invasions were cool in DeS and DaS when everything was imbalanced and novel and people would do gimmicky themed events like the Black Knight weekend and cooks vs pigs (rip /dsg/). As soon as the series came to PC they started catering to duelfags and it's only got worse since. The abysmal netcode in this series has become more apparent as the games get faster and faster, and cheating has never been more rampant. This is a developer who after SIX games with identical online mechanics still can't prevent lagstabs from 30 yards away, or a CE user bricking your save file by forcing illegal items into your bags. The concept of them making multiplayer-focused games is laughable.

its going to go the way of hunt showdown where you'll only have super tryhards and cheaters. Pvepvp hardcore games just do not work.
The only firmsoft game to look forward to is nightreign, then hopefully they have a new armored core game someday.

he's never made a pvp game and we've already got pvepvp games like tarkov dark and darker, hunt showdown. They just don't have an audience because the average person sucks and hates to see their progress get wiped by some cheater or better player.

I feel like nobody read the interview where this game actually has nothing to do with Tarkov and is more of a party game where 8 people fuck around. There's a fucking role system where you can almost avoid PVP entirely

I think people would welcome duskblood much better if it wasn't for the abysmall optics of Nightreign.

I know Nightreign isn't some nefarious scheme to suck money out of fromdrones with microtransactions and I know the idea is to train a new director by letting him make a game in the style that he likes, a roguelite from fromsoftware doesn't ahve to be a bad concept.

But Elden Ring is an IP with certain pazazz many people hold sacred, seing that reveal trailer of Nightreign and then finding out the weird shit that it is felt so dumb to me and it does feel like a cashgrab to reuse assets so much, the game could launch eventually and maybe it will turn out to be fun as hell but it undeniably feels so fucking weird.
