Started playing rather late, around Shadowbringers launch.
Was a bit of a slow start with ARR, really got hooked in HW, pushed through StB and then got rewarded by glorious SB.
Hell, I even loved the Endwalker, it was such a good way to round up and close the story I have at this point spent a few years going through in co-op with a friend experiencing it together.

After that we tried out all the other "mid-core" content, deep/variant dungeons, eureka/bozja, extreme trials, treasure hunts, reworked PvP etc..
Then eventually Dawntrail came out...

Fucking Dawntrail was so bad it was like a cancer, it spread to my happy memories of previous expansions and through the cracks I could see all the other shitty systems in the game that were covered by an immersive story that I was a part of. Now just to be sidelines with rest of the scions for damn Wuk Lamat to take center stage.

Well let's start with the filler, WHM Holy is a circle Aoe around the player itself, while AST's Gravity is targeted against a target. Both are 8 yalms in radius but AST can use it at range. This matters a lot on M6S add phase because when the Jabberwok spawns it will bind a healer in place, if it's an AST they can help out cleave any adds at a distance, while WHM is stuck in the cuck corner only being able to single target. And that is without mention other abilities, WHM only having Assize to use in AoE (and Blood Lilly with a pitiful 5 yalms radius) when AST gets Earthly Star and Macrocosmos, both basically covering the entire Arena.

If you want another example, you got SCH and SGE, SCH's AoE is Art of War, which works the same as WHM's Holy, a circle around the player, but then we have SGE, who doesn't only have Toxicons to use at range, but it can also multi DoT.

its most definitely hiroi. they write X.1 patches in advance, and its the same writing team that does X.0 (yes, hiroi wrote 5.1, but he worked on shadowbringers too yknow) regardless, 7.1 was already finished pretty much as 7.0 came out, so there was no chance to correct it following backlash. the most they could do was awkwardly remove wuk's lines
anyway this is also why 6.1 is the best X.1 patch we've gotten and was so much better than the rest of the post-Endwalker patches, you can tell Ishikawa wrote it

It's cautious optimism, yes many people are burned out from 7.0 and 7.1 did nothing to address that, 7.2 looks to be the first tentative steps in the right direction.

What is really hurting the perception of the game currently for casuals and MSQ enjoyers is Yoshida himself, his interviews and lack of transparency after Dawntrail. He said back at Pax that they were going to try new things and if they failed he would be the first to apologise and bow, he said that not us and yet so far he's done the opposite of apology, I don't expect him to grovel but at least acknowledge your fans and customer base there is a problem, that they are aware of player sentiment being negative towards the MSQ and they promise to improve.
That honestly would go a long way to reassuring people that are aware and are listening.

Again, they didn't do that instead they doubled down on the arrogant attitude of saying they know best and even threatening to sue people for criticising them, that's a real post they made.

The whole Wuk Lamat is the MC and we are her supporting cast bugged the fuck out of me because it reminded me of how WoW does its story.
In XIV all this time it has always been OUR story, our WoL is the main character and involved in the plot, whereas in WoW its the NPCs who matter, you're just some scrub standing there half the time.
It was so bad that in DF how after you have once again saved the world, you're invited to this big party to celebrate...only to be told to go wait tables and serve drinks.

The entire mythos of YoshiP is built on the trust of transparency, you break that and you break the trust people have towards the game. You can call it cringe and gay but it does exist. A lot of people do invest their time into a game especially MMOs based on the talent and the trust relationship between the devs and how they treat the players.

The only thing I'm wary of is them trying to merge 7.2 Sphene with 7.0 Sphene. 7.2 Sphene is great. She's sweet and likeable and perfectly good on her own. Adding the Endless Queen memories to that will only taint it. Let her be a fish out of water and mostly ignorant of the situation other than what she's told and let her find her own way as her own person.

It's absolutely not written by Hiroi because he's incapable of writing stories from the perspective of the player character. Every single piece of story he's worked on has been from the perspective of the Villain or an npc main character. Werylt was written from the perspective of Gaius being the MC, 6.2 onwards was written from the perspective of Zero being the MC, Dawntrail was Wuk as the MC.
7.2 was the Wol back as the MC. Also his actual writing standard is very low in detail, it lacks flare and flourish.

I genuinely quit this game because I couldn't bear to listen to Alphinaud any more, so the fact that he's still #1 means I will never return
