Battle Destiny is pretty fun though, it's like Gundam Federation VS ZAFTfor the PSP, you have a generic pilot on either Feddie or ZAFT side, progress and do missions and slowly upgrade from fodder suits to slightly less fodder suits until you are considered enough of an ace to get a basic Gundam and go from there, and then you can either stay with your faction or defect to Lacus halfway into the game. Natural can actually choose to become a Biological CPU or Extended which gives the same "enhanced spacial perception" trait Coordinators get, but really, you don't need it, later suits have computer targeting on their weapons which effectively makes the spacial passive not worth it to doom your character to brain damage.
There are no newtypes in SEED, only SEED inheritors, which only exist in coordinators since that's the true end goal of the coordinator program, to make SEED holders like Athrun, Shinn, Kira, Lacus etc. Mu is a natural and he can't do it and most other coordinators can't
Coordinators are born, you can't become one later in life, we could, in theory, make coordinators in the modern day with CRISPR but genetic tampering in babies and human cloning is banned by the UN

Newtypes are canon to SEED though, Mwu and Rau are newtypes. The SEED Freedom movie also has Kira, Lacus and Shinn have newtype powers, along with a faction of newtypes.

Zeta is good but a little aimless. higher highs but also gets a bit more middling near the middle than 0079 does.
ZZ starts off goofy but ends up pretty dark. it doesn't have much in common compared to zeta and cca though and it's more focused on the new cast.
CCA is half a movie, it feels like the movie epilogue to a novel you've never read.
0080 should be your next watch and is the most goated OVA in the gundam franchise.

SEED is so based it spawned one of the best porn games ever.
I played the game in Japanese so I didn't understand shit but thankfully now there's English subs and apparently your character's battle dialogue changes for the rest of the game if your character went through Booster or Extended surgery, can't wait to see how it changes.

You did good, it's always better to watch TV first for the full experience. Next you should watch Zeta, and follow up with a combination of ZZ, 08 MS Team, 0080 War in the Pocket, 0083 Stardust Memory, and then move to CCA, and then F91, and lastly Victory. You can always watch Unicorn after everything else but Unicorn is a rather iffy.
Yeah, Cagalli has the most, followed by Lacus in 2nd place, and Lunamaria and Meer in 3rd place. Next would be Murrue and Meirin in a distant 4th place, and then Stella.

I've always wanted to get more into gundam games but I really like online games and playing MSGO with Anon Babble was fun a decade ago but I don't think there are really any online gundam games anymore, at least, any that have a meaningful playerbase (and aren't fucking gacha like bo2)

Man I'm getting into the GS/D mood again. I didn't watch the movie yet. I reckon I'll watch the remastered seasons first + Stargazer.
I remember playing Gundam Assault Survive and Macross Triangle Frontier on the PPSSPP with other Anon Babbleen. All from the same devs as this game. Assault Survive had the most Mobile Suits of any Gundam game.
These games are kinda simplistic and janky but they make up to it with the amount of content and progression. I don't mind the jank, I grew up with Windom XP SEEDMOD lol. I wasn't spoiled with Extreme VS smooth animations however I did play the ever loving shit outta Rengou VS Zaft 2.
In Macross games you'd also be a faceless mook going on dates with characters and getting promoted as you play through anime missions and even affect the deaths of some characters.
