mgsbronies form their worldview and opinions around wrestling tier fiction

wrestling fiction sounds pretty accurate nowadays

is "mgsbronies" the cool new word for "americans"?

Nope
He was just a realistic portray of a politician
The average normalfag would forget the presidential candidate's program involves chopping off people's dicks and fucking their wives as long as there was mention of deleting Reddit and TikTok

dude, just fight for your survival lol

95% of anons would perish under his rule.

He was right because he was defeated by his own professed ideology, but he was also a massive hypocrite. His reliance on the Winds of Destruction, child soldiers, and nano machines (billions of tiny individuals cooperating to harden in response to physical trauma) proves that his strength is part of a collective, and not simply due to him as an individual.

I like that Raiden called him out on his ignorance. Armstrong uses the "pull yourself up on your bootstraps" philosophy even though he's never had to do that. Armstrong was always well off. He never had to steal or kill to survive, his survival was always guaranteed. Anyone else like Raiden would be considered a psycho criminal to be executed at all costs but he was such a good killer that he got employed for it. Raiden and Armstrong can't see eye to eye because from where Raiden is standing, Armstrong doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about

unironically good. Most men are unneeded

How did a politician get so ripped?

adrenochrome and korean baby foreskin

He played college ball you know

Just give me what I want

the back and forth dialogue between raiden and armstrong was so good
too bad metal gear and platinum are both dead lol

trump when the stocks are starting to go up again

Yes

2 more weeks

BUT YOU DID SURVIVE

Thing is Raiden didn't choose that life. It was forced on him. By people like Armstrong. Why wouldn't Raiden hate him?

I know, I just really liked that bit.

NANOMACHINES, SON

No, he wasn't but unfortunately the idiots of this board are a bunch of quasi-suicidal "tough" guys who are mad at the world.

Yeah I'm agreeing with you.

The thing is even though it's presented as an anime, vidya, over the top fight scene, there's genuine sincerity in his argument. Armstrong isn't twisting his mustache there, he genuinely believes what he's saying. He either doesn't see his hypocrisy or he's made peace with the hypocrisy because what comes after will justify it. And it's likely the latter because he admits that he's lying for the sake of capital and votes. Yeah the idea of turning America into a Battle Royale of warlords is dumb but I don't think the argument that leaders who play politics and will never see violence because they subcontract that out to the people who believe their lies comes from an insincere place. But it's a Platinum game so it doesn't get as many kudos as it should.

Senator Armstrong

Mr. House

Andrew Ryan

The holy trinity of right-wing ultra-capitalist accelerationists in vidya.

pretty bazed truth be told

Armstrong isn't twisting his mustache there, he genuinely believes what he's saying

Armstrong completely shifting his attitude once Raiden seemingly begins to accept his ideology is one of my favorite parts of the scene. Partly because it's a bit funny to see Armstrong casually pull him up after kicking his fucking ass in, but the joy he feels when someone he respects comes around to his ideology is almost infectious; you can really feel his passion at that moment, even if his actual idea for improving the world is pretty fucked

Remind me, what was the plan once he was elected, how would he do any of the shit he talked about?

Politicians don't really need much in terms of concrete plans. It's enough to be the ideas guy and when you're in charge you can get other people to draft the actual plans.

At some cushy Ivy league school, no doubt

he looks like Cyraxx's real dad

He's correct about the problem, but wrong about the solution. Worse, he's a hypocrite that says people should be judged for their own strength rather than their wealth, while using his wealth to enhance his strength.

Armstrong sitting down with a team of advisors and asking them to draft a plan to turn America into a law-of-the-jungle hellhole is a very funny image.

No, he was just spoiled retarded.

destroy society as it exists today

force mankind back into a kill or be killed mentality so as to usher in an age of prosperity once the ashes settle

??????????????

profit

I have some charts if you need some visual aides

No. Raiden literally lived his dream life, and thinks it fucking sucked and wishing it upon others is insane.

Base on what we saw, he probably planning to be a warhawk of the upcoming war, win more support and become president. Then he would either continue the war while solidify his rule, form a cult of personality, making him almost impossible to be remove from office or even when he retire, he would still holding the string. He then would enact policies that allow the sale of dangerous nano weapon to common people, turning the country into an arm race between people with money to spend on top of the line gears

It also makes me wonder what Sam was like working with the Winds considering Armstrong calls him a pain in the ass. Though to be fair, Armstrong not being a hypocrite doesn't prevent him from indulging in a bit of pettiness here and there. Kicks the shit out of Bladewolf for self-determining and pummels Raiden right before that. Which really, is the actual flaw to his ideology: Many of the people who personify his ideal world would fight to the death against what he's planning.

Honestly Armstrong seems to have gotten along well with all the other Winds. He takes time to stroll around a Japanese garden with Monsoon even though pansy japanese shit makes him visibly angry, and they even chat about nature. Sundowner's showing him around the facility in that one security footage. As for Mistral's crush on him-you can't tell me he wasn't hitting that constantly, with both of them being super into the power imbalance dynamics. For a guy who earnestly wants rule by force, he's not a bad boss. Like one of the more nuanced demon lords from an isekai or something, he seems to be capable of separating business from pleasure from camaraderie very well.

Anyone remember the promotional material for the game, where Armstrong was giving a more conventional speech? I just assumed that the political side of his power base is being kept in the dark, thinks their boss is just like any other politician, and will be thrown to the wolves whenever Armstrong enacts his SMT Chaos ending.

Although really, the real strategising probably goes on with the Winds of Destruction considering they're pretty much all critical to putting his plan into motion.

Don't forget that inevitably, Desperado would likely end up on top of it since they'd have advanced knowledge of what's happening and are already big and successful enough to have international scope.

I love how Armstrong is not a hypocrite. When Raiden beats him he doesn't rage, he doesn't yell about how unfair it was or how close he was to his goal. He not only accepts it, he seems outright overjoyed that someone even stronger than him is imposing their will. It follows his ideology and he accepts it.
His "But you did survive!" also, to me, implies that he knows he never suffered like Raiden did, but he's aware of that and it makes him respect Raiden that much more, as someone who surpassed adversity and grew strong enough to impose his will upon others.

whenever Armstrong enacts his SMT Chaos ending.

kek

Not super relevant but I'd just like to add

one of the few pieces of modern media that acknowledges that Denver, Colorado does, in fact, exist

Not 1:1 but they got it pretty close, I was impressed

Not 1:1

They got e 6th ave right up to where Raiden crashes at Kalamath spot on.

He turns from 6th onto Colfax at one point, which is impossible as they're are parallel to each other. Where he crashes is more akin to the 16th street mall area, but I'll grant you they got the look down. Even have the fancy curved street lights

nanomachines probably

why do you keep making this thread
how many times do you need someone to say "he's just a populist spouting nonsense, he has no ideas, he's just pointing out things people already don't like and pretending a militaristic neo-feudalist hellscape would be preferable (because he has nanomachines)."
This discussion has been mined for all it's got.
