The VO sounds great and the writing is good, and the translation doesn't sound like engrish. Later trailers have some minor issues with the translation, or the VA seemingly having to give an awkward delivery to match the pacing, but this one is pretty much perfect. At least I think.

Why are they striking?

They want all the privileges of eastern VAs without any of the talent or professionalism. They're practically enslaved by contracts and have crazy fan expectations forced on them sometimes, but in return they're like minor celebrities and have very strong rights to voice "their" characters.
Western VAs are the opposite, they're generally bottom of the barrel in terms of quality, and in return nobody knows their names, they have very little job security, and typically get paid scraps, but they have freedom to work wherever they want and their professional life is pretty much separate from their personal life.

With eastern games surpassing western games in popularity even in English-speaking countries, the contradiction is coming to a head now. Western VAs want celebrity status, "ownership" of characters, more pay, guarantees about job security, etc. But they also demand freedom to act however they want in their personal lives, renegotiate pay all the time, belong to unions, and so on.

I think the endgame here is they all get punted for someone willing to work for less, because in the end they're pretty replaceable. not even by AI or whatever, just other humans. Like you said for most people this is a "dream job" so yeah, they'll find plenty of starving artists to work for peanuts.

To put it another way: The Eastern idea of VA is that they're "actors" in a proper sense and they're giving a proper performance as an actor in a voice drama. The Western dub VA is usually just "voiceover", just someone reading a script to fill space because we need a voice here and we need it done cheap. Rarely they use actual actors with theater training, but that's not these people. These VAs want to be paid like talented actors but work like bare-minimum voiceover.

Because Chink devs don't actually give a shit about the english speaking side of their games. and honestly why would they, they've got enough shit to worry about with chinese fans who make up the bulk of their profits occasionally going postal and attempting to murder a VA or something, they don't need to worry about American twitter drama.

I feel like with AI you could record a performance from someone who can actually act, then replace their voice with someone with the voice you want, and it would end up sounding a lot better than if you'd hired either of them for the role. Like you'd just need one or two good actors to do a dry run of all your voices then just find people with the right voice after the fact.

In alot of cases the animations in a given game or show syncs with the original language so unless there are options for similar sounds, the localization changes the animations or there are no lip animations there will always be some disconnect.

I like English dubs, not American dubs unless the actors are incredibly talented or it's consistent with the Universe. For example I could not imagine anyone else doing the voices for Soul Reaver and for the American voice actors for Beserk for me are the characters Guts and Griffith, the VA's are American but it works because all the VAs are American and it's consistent plus they are talented. That talent has faded and gone away big time in the U.S. due to nepotism of groups like Critical Role who only promoted their friends and gatekept people who were talented out of the industry, away from voice roles again in favor of their own friends.
