These guys were basically on the path to becoming the RLM of video games. What went wrong?
Giant Bomb autopsy
they support BLM and lgbt, nuff said.
White nerds who were laughed at and bullied by normalfags and white chads sympathize with other oppressed groups
Wow, you don't say.
ryan thought it would be a good idea to snort coke at his wedding as an obese man with sleep apnea and jeff kinda stopped giving a shit
Klepek
Blacks are literally treated like gods in America though?????????
Online, not in real life.
I think about them a lot. I used to fucking love the Bombcast and UPF and Quick Looks and their E3 coverage, it was really special, and I even got into after Ryan had already died. It was really depressing to watch it all fall apart.
It was a slow process though, the split into GB East, the hiring of Abby and Austin and Ben (Ben was actually fine but he came at the time of their downfall). But yeah the story now is that basically the corporate side continued to fuck them for years, and Covid was the final straw - the suits didn’t want to justify paying for a studio or office anymore, and the in-person dynamic was where the magic came from. Very sad, honestly. I hope Jeff is doing alright, fuck the rest of them, Vinny included. He was always the most overrated one.
not vidya
kys inceleb worshiping fuck
no worship here...nextlander is really bad. like shockingly so
Red Letter Media was independent since it's inception.
Giant Bomb always had corporate fingers in the pie.
nypost.com
george floyd blm riots etc etc see yourself out, jude
I like Abby, she brings a needed amount of energy to the streams and plays well off of Vinny.
Jeff is doing fine, his own streams and podcast perform better than nextlander and Giant Bomb combined at this point
schizo headcanon on my part but my gut feeling is that they don't like jeff very much
"we're burnt out doing the same thing"
they form another podcast thing basically doing the same shit
brad alex and vinny are full of shit
Ryan died and everyone else slowly became disillusioned with the increasingly worse corporations they were being sold to and left.
That's pretty obvious with how little they talk about him and the fact he hasn't been on their podcast in 3 years despite guesting on others
Brad accidentally confirmed this when he was talking about having to tell someone at GB that they are too burnt out and quad vaxxed to deal with his shit. Most people thought he was talking about a suit but I think it was clearly Jeff.
I tried to jump on board with the Nextlander crew but Vinny is the only one who plays video games so what's even the point? Alex is Anon Babblepilled now and Brad is more interested in showroom floor meme tech.
they were pretentious cali hipsters
back when it was cool to be one, now they are just old losers and 1 who died of ODing on drugs
Splitting the offices was a weird flex.
Then shit hit the fan once Alex, Brad and Vinny left. It was already going downhill but that was the Titanic hitting the iceberg. Though, thinking about it now, COVID was already doing damage.
Then Jeff Gerstmann left and it was all ogre. The days of GB being a relevant voice in the industry are over. There's literally no point to buying their premium deal. And are they seriously still charging almost 50 bucks for that? Lmao. Bless Dan but he's not enough on his own.
Nah. They're all adults on different wavelengths now. The way Jeff got shitcanned by GB was awful, though.
I thought that was Wesley Crusher for a second, fuck.
This but the problem was that they only focused on dude bro garbage and always shat on DS and Wii games.
Patrick Kleppek brought woke to the site and ruined gaming
For me it was Jeff + Vinny streams.
The split of Easf and West killed the site for good.
And the only good thing Dan Ryckert bought was the Mario Parties and Danposting.
Yeah, that's fucking gay. If you are a grown man and still care about how you got bullied and other people's plight from being bullied then you are just a faggot who never got bullied enough. Grow up.
it started going bad when they were bought by whiskey media and moved out of the basement
I'm fine with Giantbomb dying I guess but it's weird that despite their now being two podcasts, Jeff's and Nextlander, they almost never talk about each other.
There's gotta be bad blood there.
abby and ben were dimeless shitters
also kinda wish greg kasavin was a part of the gb crew he was comfy in the gamespot era
Yeah, that was always the vibe. They were tight on-camera but outside of work? Felt like everyone just clocked out the second the stream ended. The pandemic just accelerated what was already breaking—a bunch of people with diverging visions stuck under a rotting brand.
twitch streamers took over from "gaming journalists" as personalities that zoomers like to follow
These guys were basically on the path to becoming the RLM of video games
That doesn't look like Mega64
So I don't expect or even want these millennial/xer personalities to be right wing or politically activated at all. But it's really interesting to me how guys like Victor Lucas or Adam Sessler endorse the world that took their jobs away from them. They would be in a better place if that vaguely liberal but still catering to the tastes of young white men era had continued into the 2010s.
Jeff is funny but now he's just confortable doing his own shit and has no one to bounce off of him.
Nextlander is atrocious. If anyone could recommend me some videos of theirs that are actually entertaining, I'd really appreciate it, unironically.
I shitty part is jeff and vinny have always been and are still on the same wavelength. Together they would still be producing work worth watching but some office politics bullshit has siloed vinny with zombie people who hate games and jeff is on his own talking to himself in a bedroom.
yeah here I'll post them below
They were both in the same wavelenght of wanting to be in their home state and not bother with online call content.
do persona 4 endurance run
it's the most successful thing your company has ever done
persona 5 releases
fans beg you to do another endurance run
"we're too busy"
They were apparently too busy to be successful.
That's all they do now. I dont really even want to watch them stream games I just want to hear them talk about videogames on a podcast once a week or even once a month. There is a space for old fuck guys in their 40s and 50s with first hand experience of the entire history of the medium who just talk shit about what is happening now.
They were always busy doing nothing. Giantbomb died with Ryan and everyone just went through the motions. Brad half comatose collecting a paycheck. Drew fucked off for patreon money. Vinny split the office to start a family and spent the entire time setting things up.
An episode of Jeff's podcast
20 minutes of talking about energy drinks
2 hours of reminiscing about old obscure arcade games
40 minutes of answering emails where he shits on the person asking the question
An episode of Nextlander
30 minutes of talking about home repairs
20 minutes of talking about some mass shooting or political news in hushed morose tones
Vinny being out of touch
Alex making self-deprecating jokes or complaining about being alive
Brad speaking in a way i can only describe as 'california mumbling'
Long gone are the good old days. Long gone are the late night E3 shows.
youtube.com
THE WORD "CUMSLUT" MAY HAVE ACCIDENTALLY GOTTEN INTO A TEXT MESSAGE--
t. yurofaggot posting online shit
2008-2014 is a solid run all thing considered
Post CBSi it went to shit, the new UPF set had zero charm compared to the old couch setup, and then Covid put the final nail in the coffin. I still follow Jeff and the Nextlander crew, so there's that
speaking of another bunch of retards that completely wasted their shot
how long until they go full broke again and rocco kills himself live on the podcast
