'music' is just a piano chord that plays once every 30 minutes
'music' is just a piano chord that plays once every 30 minutes
And its fucking awesome. It was such a bold move, yet it fits perfectly.
please understand
absolute unapologetic soul
I think the idea was to focus on listening to the natural environment around the place, not Hyrule Field on loop.
In fairness if you were listening to a loop of Dark World over this game it would get very annoying very fast.
The problem for ME is that there aren't enough music HIGHs. It's like Molduga, Vah Medoh, and... that's it. That's the travesty for me. The music in AoC mogs it completely.
Based
Protip for musicians: every bar doesnt need to be filled
I want the constant music back too. A lot of games still do that and it's not annoying or anything.
kek
nostalgia bait video
90% of the songs are from botw and totk
it's called forced soul, and tons of clone devs copied it like the golems they are
Because, loud prominent tracks wouldn't work in such vast game focused on free, at-your-own-pace exploration. Imagine hearing this constantly while walking through an empty field.

BOTW came out 8 years ago
It's trash
Works for other open world games
anon adults alive now were 10 years old when it came out
Jeremy Soule was the GOAT
Imagine hearing this constantly while walking through an empty field
imagine hearing NOTHING for 100 hours. Its like torture, if you dont spend time in the towns once in a while you'll go crazy.
I love Twilight Princess, but always thought the hyrule field theme was too busy. Otherwise good theme, but maybe lose the drums
T. Mentally ill
Criminally overrated composer
I was 20 when BotW came out, and I have nostalgia for it. Fuck you.
But I liked the immersive environmental noises (wind, rain, wildlife) and the clanking sound from Link's equipment.
BOTW isn't like "other open world games" imo. Either way soft ambient music seems to be the standard for open world games
Just be white.
I haven't played Oblivion but I imagine this could sound pretty stupid depending on the context.
... when composing the OST for Secret of Evermore at age 20 or however old he was at the time, yes.
some dude thats never played oblivion pretending to be the expert on music on open world games. What a world.
Oblivion
LMAO
doesn't even post a track that actually plays during gameplay
Unironically, Soule's earliest soundtracks (Secret of Evermore, Icewind Dale, KOTOR1, Morrowind) were his absolute best.
Orchestral in nature, but never overly bombastic and always on point.
tasteful and relaxing music that fits the tone of the game
WOW THIS SUCKS WHERE'S THE MUSIC??? FUCKING SHIT GAME
constant cheery melody droning on and on for hours
LOL WOW BABY BING BING MUCH? TENDIE NEEDS HIS KIDBOPZ FUCKING SHIT GAME
Never called myself an "expert" it's just common sense.
Either way, I checked the TES wiki and it says that the track you posted plays in opening cutscene, it's not exploration music. So I was correct that it would sound weird if it just started playing while you wander around a forest, Todd agrees.
never overly bombastic and always on point
I imagine creating a "bombastic" orchestral track with MIDI in the late 90s - early 00s would've been quite an undertaking.
Only retards need music shoved down their ears at all time. It makes BOTW's music much more special when they do use it.

I preferred these shrines to ToTK man
what the fuck
I checked the wiki
Sure.
Yeah and? The point still stands, it's not exploration music and your argument is invalid.
zoomers dont deserve music
we know
Zelda has so many memorable songs
people think this is okay
art is just art
Memorable music died when 1) hyperrealistic graphics became a standard thing 2) huge open world games flooded the market
Crimson Mirelands was the place I spent the most time and this was its theme
youtu.be
Music can work, but BoTW OST is not bad.
Jump on your horse
Suddenly you realize his hoof-falls are inspiring the music
you could go anywhere with this bro
the now-effortless travel brings forth nostalgia as wisps of the classic Zelda theme are integrated
This was the first game that was "art"
(I may be forgetting, Portal also had musical harmonies with your actions. Another quiet revolution.)
v hates pokemon so you shouldn't post this here
WRONG
MARIO 64 IS THE FIRST GAME THAT WAS ART AND LUDO
Open world sandbox RPGs are soulless piles of shit news at 11
It's better that way because hearing a main theme loop over and over for hours would be torture. I will say though if it was the horse riding music it wouldn't be so bad

after botw was the only time I actually looked into who made the games and learned that aonuma has been resentfully using LoZ to wipe his ass since fucking wind waker which he named after his own band
It's the minecraft/c418 influence, big budget producers realized people are fine with phoned in b sides playing that don't even fit the tone of the game.
That, but with clarinets.

loud prominent tracks wouldn't work in such vast game focused on free, at-your-own-pace exploration
skill issue
hire better devs
shit taste
kill yourself
Thanks for reminding me that I wanted to delete the BotW OST from my music library.
Minecraft has actual songs
