I imagined

main story was fine, had its ups and downs. feel like they should've done more early to establish a relationship between lao and lin, maybe him acting as kind of a surrogate father or something. as it is now, her caring so much about him late in the story just feels forced. feel like lao needed more fleshing out in general, we got so many missions that revolve around him just being a fuck up/awol constantly that i was actively itching to kill that fucker rather than feeling conflicted in any way.

i liked pretty much everything else, pacing felt decent and had enough to do between story missions that i never felt like i needed to grind to get to the next thing

epilogue i was more mixed on. i didn't really like that Al showed up and eclipsed the MC until pretty much the final scene. the "whats poppin" shit was very annoying and forced, the scenes where the characters just say it over and over to each other made me cringe.

the first two epilogue chapters just felt like filler with you doing time waster missions in between segments where it's just cutscene, fast travel, cutscene over and over. i get they needed cutscenes to establish the story pivots, but i wish they were structured around one bigger mission for each act (like every other story chapter) instead of multiple filler missions.

final epilogue chapter was great, really liked the new area. wish the segment without skells has been longer because it was kind of nice to have a little linear "dungeon" for once. final boss was a joke with the ares 70, instakilled with one attack, but maybe that's my fault for getting all of the spears. the final part where you get to use the ares prime ended up taking way longer by comparison.

didn't like how much time they wasted guessing at void's thoughts/feelings/motivations given he's a cardboard cutout of a character and the game just tells you his backstory straight up in the finale anyway. didn't like how the ghosts aren't really explained at all

I really loved the epilogue. I can totally understand why people are annoyed about the handwaving of some of the Mira-specific plot points, but for the runtime they had I think they didn’t a good job.

Act 3 was fantastic and I found the way they managed to work in more “mainline” ideas into X to be pretty elegant.

It is a little inconvenient because I have to Heroic Tale the Milsaadi and then immediately order my party into skells every time so the Milsaadi can be killed before the next one spawns in so I can have immediate secondary cooldown Heroic Tale on the next one too

No, I’m referring more so to how X:DE takes the thematic ideas that X presented (harmony between races, survival despite insurmountable circumstances, etc.) and worked them into the sorts of storytelling beats you’d find in the rest of the Xeno series.

To give more specific example, I’ve always viewed the Xeno games as love stories at their foundation. They tend to highlight all the ways love in any form (romantic, platonic, familial) can manifest and influence one’s behavior. While there were some side quests with romantic and familial themes, that kind of thing never really made its way into X’s main story.

Al’s whole spiel to Cross about finding the strength to love everyone, I believe, was the writers’ way of working in those traditional Xeno foundations while keeping it in line with X’s greater emphasis on racial coexistence and perseverance. In the end I found it to tie in very neatly with the rest of the game’s ideas.

Cross is a unisex name, which allows you to lean into the two genders of your choice.

Attribute res, astral protection helps but it's not strictly necessary, you can get it from many sources including armor natural stats, traits, augments, passive skills, blue and green arts, the attribute res probes

Evasion, through memewalker as the normal evasion stat caps at 95% chance to dodge so it cannot 100% guarantee you will survive until the end of a fight, while decoy is actual 100% for a set number of hits

a mix of the two above, using both evasion stat and some attribute res just to prevent literal oneshots, might require a healing art or other healing sources like augments

Reflect, although it is pierced sometimes so it's not a perfect solution for everything, easier than it sounds, look at what the shop gives you

Topplelock, requires resistance reducer augments, some enemies have hardcoded immunity however, if it wasn't for this then it would have been upped a tier

Sleeplock, same story but also requires soft touch, hardcoded immunity also a thing

Also in Topplelock's favor, I'd like to point out it works on nemesis and it's considered optimal as well.
Sleeplock also does, although it's really just worse Topple all things considered.

Apparently the strongest thing you can do is using Hercules Blow with the passive that has an 80% chance to apply a DoT based on the damage, which can cause the DoT to tick at damage cap everytime.

It's definitely the merged world, and we see the white whale 2 coming in as soon as the worlds merge, unless takahashi is trying to trick people, and that light at the end of future redeemed was actually kosmos, with the white whale going to a completely different dimension.

I'd rather the next game take place far after the end of 3. I don't want any returning characters just start fresh and make the next game a full on Mecha pilot game.

You lack vision, X is 10, this is a fact because alois sees events from the three games, this explains how nopons and telethias exist since those were created by klaus. If this is true then it means that the interlink cores are products of the events of 3. If 3 comes first then the first ares was the ouroboros in FR, if void was doing experiments with the conduit he could have learned about that technology from it, he created a machine that combines with the pilot and functions through love(omoi was used in japanese, translated as feelings in 3) and memories just like the requirements for the ouroboros. The rise of origin as a concept could have altered the structure of the multiverse giving rise to the ghosts, those things have cores in them but for some reason void doesn't use them, could be because they are distilled hate/apathy instead of love which is what he used for the ares, like how moebius can interlink too and have cores but are not moebius. Actually the abyss could really just be origin that is now just sitting at the depths of reality because of something that happened post-merge

The cores are just a representation of consciousness. Just like in Xenosaga the symbol for the UMN was an ouroboros.
The ouroboros and moebius in 3 are the consciousness of different people merging.
The ares is an arc of people's consciousness.
The ghosts haven't been fully explained yet but considering their blatant similarities to gnosis (and their name) they probably are the consciousness of dead people who refuse to go to the afterlife or whatever

As of now the ghost don't really seem to be smart much like white blood cells in your body, so they could have returned to a dormant state once they finished with the Mira universe, it could be that they need some bigger events to start doing things again atleast in full force

Riku said nopon were "not to interfere" in 3, which you'd think means between the war between the 1 and 2 worlds Z started, but I think it might go higher than that and Nopon are not supposed to interfere in some kind of universal shit.

it's so obviously part of the retconned plot, X was full of 1 references because they were planning to reveal the multiverse connection for the next game that wasn't originally the XB2 we got. The orphean discovering the telethia comes from another universe is the biggest one and it's meant to be the last sidequest, the sword of legendaryness, the ether furnace, the statue of the gods. The short stories that are also retconned by now also had tatsu mention that the arrival of humans was prophetic. Time travel was also going to be part of X too, it's the reason why they even had professor B in it and why he is so out of place when you consider the new lore. The neilnail skells had time manipulation powers originally and were gonna be part of the main plot so the ending saying "this story is never ending" was probably going to be referencing some sort of cyclic time, the snake that eats itself that got repurposed for 3. Elma knowing that the ganglion and ghosts would arrive was probably going to be explained through time travel too, and don't think that this is out of place because time manipulation was the big thing in Xenoblade 1 with the visions and controlling fate, maybe she saw the war with a more advanced vision machine.

The remerged world is literally just earth, 1 has a journey through the solar system starting in jupiter to reveal that the previous universe was this one, then FR starts the post credit scene with a view of jupiter to once again tells us that we are looking at our world and then the planets fuse and earth return. This new planet has a ring to make it clear that it's absolutely not earth, this is the franchise that has had multiple planets in its lore since xenogears, they wouldn't show what they did in FR and then claim that this new one in X is the same. The ending is also a parallel to the intro that starts with a view of the moon and earth ahead of it, while here they didn't show a moon.

I couldn't finish TOTK because of this. Once I realized it was 99% the same world with a really shitty barebones skyworld/underworld, I started losing interest rapidly. I got through the 3rd 'dungeon' (lmfao, how are they still ~20 minute long 'find 5 switches' borefests???) and put it down.

Damage is never a problem in this game as long as you used galactic knight skills for melee build and FMJ skills for ranged. I guarantee you the only time you'll fight something longer than 2 minutes is gradivus.
On the defense side, you can pick shield (its reflect arts also reduces damage), dual gun for the infamous ghostwalker, or psycho launcher for astral protection (half damage cut is a lot, and resistance augs aren't expensive)

So I can't stick with a purely Mastermind build (with no Brainjack) then? Since I've got to level up the other classes for the achievements anyway, then it's not big deal swapping.

Pure mastermind is pretty easy to make work if that's what you want because knife is a pretty busted support weapon.

You can but then you'd probably want to go for a Sleep build which unfortunately doesn't work against all enemies but it does work against the Nemeses. And then it'd be Beam Bomber, Ether Blast or Black Butterfly for Damage. Black Bane memes also possible but you'd probably want to have your party members contribute and that might be hard because of the Sleep. You'd want 2 Soft Touch XX on party members and then you'd also only be able to field party members that have Feather Touch. Irina and Celica are the only ones who can do it. 4th party member would need to have no damaging arts. Kind of a meme but if you can get them to stack a lot of debuffs you can do wild damage.

You can look up sleeplock black bane build for that, it takes effort to set up though

The graphics are nice and music in parts, but elsewise.. It's a badly designed failure created to steal away your time, packing the player with a myriad of meaningless quests resulting in burn-out of the player.

Does he not know about things like free TP from Ranged: TP Gain Up and Hellfire having massive hit scaling along with the high hit count and AoE effect? Does he not know how it can run both potential and ranged sets? Back in Wii U days it was literally the optimal weapon for Ygg runs.
