The open world is fine, FH's problem is the lack of story mode paired with the latinx-tier characters.

They're hyping up Free Roam, so there's likely some actual single-player content behind it. We don't know about how some staple modes like Versus, Time Trials, Battle, and so on are being handled this time around. Rainbow Road is being propped up as a big reveal, and past that a lot of tracks have only been seen so much from poor camera angles. A lot of the presentation is going to be covering old information, but it's still reasonable to make this more well-known. Most players aren't going to keep up with every single detail found from the demos.

The costumes are more of a separate appeal instead of padding. The way they're doing the roster select is bad, but that's more of an UI than roster issue.

Do think 50 is a little disappointing, but I do appreciate the variety at least. A few of the goons are misses, but there's some great choices here. Goomba, Pianta, Penguin, Spike, and Piranha Plant were outright popular requests what I saw. Others like Fish Bone, Cow, or Cataquack are going to get a lot of love as well. If they throw a few more staples in the final roster, I'll be satisfied. If not, it will still be alright.

I have like over 20 switch games in my backlog that I haven't even started yet, I don't care anymore and won't pick up a Switch 2 or its games until they go down in prices. I hope you can turn off the stupid intersections and just race on the actual tracks in online mode.
The intersections look painfully boring like they were made for casuals with as little turns as possible and huge broad roads that go in a straight line 80% of the time.

And the worst thing is that the only track where you have to complete 3 rounds is the very first one in each cup. Afterwards you just race on those boring intersections until you reach the next track where it only takes one round for the race to finish.
