First party controllers are obsolete.
First party controllers are obsolete
good morning sir
so true saar
saarposting this early into a controller thread
It's funny because the Gamesir controllers are actually pretty good.
How is a $30 chinkshit controller such a superior option to first party offerings? The latest controllers out of the big chink companies have hall sticks, which should have been industry fucking standard by now, and offer more solid construction and longer lasting batteries than first party controllers at a fraction of the price.
Controller with TMR sticks are coming out now too and they're even better than Hall Effect supposedly.
I went with a wired PowerA when I brought my Switch 4 years ago. Still holds up.
Are there any decent chinkshit controllers?
I'm willing to spend $50 on something good quality
Nauseating color scheme
Forced wireless because USB-C is for charging only, and the contact on the pogo pin charging cradle is really bad.
Yes it has Hall Effect sticks but there are other problems with the controller and they are significant.
I will never buy a controller called "Gamesir", I still have some dignity left.
There is supposedly an 8bitdo Pro 3 being announced in May, I'll buy one if it has a bunch of the Ultimate goodies like L4/R4 and TMR sticks.
Gamesaar is making a Playstation 1 themed wired controller I'm kinda interested in. Symmetrical controllers being less of a wasteland than before is nice.
these arent very comfortable and like 250hz
Symmetrical get an 8bitdo Pro 2 (or wait for the Pro 3 in May), Xbox/Nintendo get an 8bitdo Ultimate 2.
If you buy first-party controllers, no you don't have dignity left.
First party controllers are obsolete.
i'm still using a decade old xbox one controller
Uh huh. This is probably the only thing i've seen in a while that's remotely interesting.
I hope the Pro 3 has a dock, that's my favorite part of the Ultimate Wireless for me. (I still have the older hall effect version but I'm waiting until Pro 3 is announced before I upgrade.)
Before I decided I hated using a Gamesaar Tarantula Pro because of its d-pad and overall gamer aesthetic, I was really really spoiled by the charging dock it came with and how quick and easy it was to just let it pair. It made going back to my riced-out Pro 2 really hard. Maybe I'll rice out a Dualsense and buy an IINE charging dock if the Pro 3 doesn't have a bunch of niceties.
Who are the modern Mad Catz? Any stupidly funky designe still out there?
Yes get 8BitDo Pro 2. Best quality. I have bought three and they have all been good quality. I will probably buy the 8BitDo Pro 3 when it is sold in May though.
This controller is pretty good, my only problem is that the color options are all very gay
Got this for free on tiktok
It's basically on par with an xbox controller
I have heard news of a new 8BitDo controller releasing some time in May. Can anons tell me if this is accurate? Will it be a good game controller?
Why waste your time on all this crap that's worse than a DS4?
are you talking about this?
At absolute worst it'll be an iteration on the previous 8bitdo Pro 2 which is a very solid symmetrical controller. Plebbit is the place that says it's in May.
I agree third party controller with hall effect joysticks are superior
8shitdo
you have about 4 - 6 months before the triggers die on you
Gamesir > 8shitdo
buy an ad
Of the parts that failed on me on an 8bit, the triggers were not one of them. It's been the face buttons wearing down for me on the Pro and Ultimate after several years of use.
So long as the big 3 march in lockstep, they'll keep making controllers with planned obsolescence.
There was a known design flaw with the 8bitdo controllers and their triggers, dunno if it was ever fixed
For me it was cosmetic damage on the Game Boy themed Pro 2 where the silkscreening for ABXY wore off
Got a cyclone 2 myself and while Im loving every minute of it, it still pisses me off that affordable third party controllers are decimating expensive ass first party controllers. Imagine going to a buddys house and asking if they had a madcatz you could use instead of the dualshock....
a step backwards from the 8bitdo pro 2.
doesnt have removable battery pack so when it breaks you cant replace it and you cant use it as xinput controller over bluetooth only through the dongle or wired.
for 10 doller more you can get the refreshed pro 2 which can do all it can do and has the hall effect triggers and sticks and can use the dongle too if you purchase it but has the base options of being able to be used as xinput or dinput over bluetooth.
Cursory warning, Ive not been able to get both Gyro and Analog Triggers to work simultaneously in Dinput mode. Most people dont care about this but I do
for the ultimate 2c or the pro 2?
cause i got them working on both but only when using steaminput.
The gamesir t4 kaleid was pretty tacky.
Pro2. Dinput gives me analog triggers but no gyro, as does Xinput, switch gives me gyro but no analog triggers.
are you confusing it with that shitty n64 kickerstarter controller because i have literally never heard a single complaint about the triggers on 8bitdos
These cheap shits have a 7% drift on a good day and the dpad is unusable, to the point that even using the "4 way dpad" mode makes it fire off diagonal or opposite way direction keys.
they won't work the same way on pro 2 as i recall, xinput or dinput (including switch mode) determines whether that input axis gets used for gyroscope input or for analog triggers, in xinput mode it's used for analog triggers. hacky workaround for supporting both since they're designed as switch controllers first and foremost and xinput doesn't support gyro natively
but no analog triggers.
this is normal.
since the switch does not support analogue triggers.
the gyro ive only ever got to work when using steam as a wrapper but never on its own either.
hall effect or other magic sticks
non-shit switches
xbox ergonomics
paddles/other type of grip buttons
non chinkshit QC
crazy how you cant get this simple list of 5 features, you can at most get 3 and the controller still comes out to like 80 dollars
ipega or dobe
Yeah, thats why I offered a cursory warning. The only controller Ive gotten both gyro and analog triggers at the same time is the Cyclone 2 due to its input mimicking a dualshock 4
welcome to economy of scale. people don't realize that controllers cost a shitload of money to make with those features. nintendo sony and microsoft all probably had plenty of engineers suggesting it in the early days of the xbox/ps2/gamecube era, but concluded it would increase prices to much and opted out. we're only seeing them in third party controllers because some dudes patents probably expired.
Why do they make these in mostly queer color schemes?
unironincally asking
Theyre switch controllers first and foremost so....
I agree but I really fucking like the one in OP's pic. If I was on the fence about buying that controller or another one, the color would probably influence me to get it, I think it's such an unique combo.
its not queer you're just a self conscious fag desperate to not stick out
i live my life as schizophrenically colorful as possible
all have garbage dpads
I kneel to the power of fat guys wearing Hawaiian shirts.
Pro 2 has a great d-pad but it's kind of offputting if you don't like the SNES OR the Dualshock 4 d-pads since it's like a hybrid between those two.
I have the wired version of that controller.
It's shit.
D-pad is MUSH, unusable.
im good bro
I was you, then all 4 of my 360pads started fucking dying
i don't hate snes and like ds3/4 but if i'm gonna spend money on third party, where the fuck are the saturn dpads, is it a patent issue?
Playing with d-pads in 2025
move on, boomer
Best controller here
damn unlucky mine works perfectly despite being almost 20 years old
more of an interest issue, sega controllers in general are not a common style even among "nostalgia controller" spaces where your options are
straight reproduction of genesis controllers
8bitdo lovingly but somewhat awkwardly recreating your controller in their own way
the closest thing i've found to the feel of a saturn d-pad is on a gamecube themed slide-in controller for nintendo switch made by retroflag
speaking of, if you have any projects that you want gamecube analog sticks for but with more modern dualshock or xbox stick-boxes underneath, email retroflag's support and ask if you can have some of the stick caps as replacement parts, they sent me a free pair but charged shipping (NOTE: THIS WAS BEFORE DRUMPF TARIFFS AND MAIL EXCLUSIONS, NO IDEA IF IT WOULD GO THROUGH NOW BUT PROBABLY STILL WOULD, I RECEIVED IT IN A BUBBLE ENVELOPE AS I RECALL)
Everyone tells me the Nova Lite is good, but mine frequently turns off even when it's wired
Just bought this. What should I expect?
A great bogstandard controller with some bluetooth issues(honestly Im convinced bluetooth itself is just fucked up, theres gotta be too many bluetooth devices on earth just fucking everything up, the only time any bluetooth shit just fucking works no issue is like, in the woods with a jbl speaker)
Are the L5/R5 and L4/R4 buttons good?
Even the cheap chink controller that I use with my phone has hall effect. The absolute state kek
the sticks break on these within months of use dont be suckered into buying them by Anon Babble like i have
see
expect it to work for 8 months before one thing breaks making the whole thing unusable paperweight
Ultimate 2 and Ultimate 2C are different controllers
Stop throwing your shit around
All I want is an Xbone controller without the finicky face buttons. That's it. No one has done it. Some have come close but then they give you the ol' "soldered in 800mAh battery only" switcheroo, or the "made for teeny baby hands" flick like the Series controller, the 8bitdos, etc.
"but then they give you the ol' "soldered in 800mAh battery only"
Because those are better in every way
Maybe after like 30 years the batteries start being as shit as using AA, but the batteries are usually connected via pic related
Chink brands are leaving everyone else in the dust everywhere, not just controllers.
Same or better product for less than half the price.
It's over basically.
Oh I love those connectors, easy to get in and out and it's super easy to solder them to a new connection. I got a rumble motor on an 8bitdo Gamecube controller PCB replacement working with one of those.
Not to mention it's not hard to solder two wires of this size even if the battery doesn't use a connector
I love my G7 SE and I don't give a shit how much it makes Anon Babble seethe. I'm also whiter than 99% of this board.
caucasian status revoked from feeling the need to bring it up on the internet
Does anyone make anything like the dualsense? I kinda like the vibrations and trigger tension
This board has to be the most retarded low IQ place on the internet to discuss gaming.
For the past 15 years all my controllers had been 1st party Microsoft or Sony originals.
When my last Xbox One controller died last year I decided to buy that 8bitdo Ultimate 2C cuz of the reviews. Once I got em I made a side by side comparison with my 2 legit controllers.
The 2C is the only one out of the 3 with wich you can actually draw a perfect circle and ACTUALLY has zero deadzone when you turn it off ingame.
The PS5 and Xbox ones are shit in comparison.
I play competitive FPS and my performance increased substantially and instantly because I can finally actually aim without that stupid deadzone and the shitty analog circle. Oh and I can buy multiple of those cuz they're like 1/3 of the price.
But then I come here on Anon Babble and everyone's shitting on it.
I simply don't get it, how can a place so irredeemably retarded and wrong about everything? These people have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.
And yes, competitive FPS on controller is a thing and in fact it's the most used input in most games. Blame aim assist, not the users.
closest that currently exists is the gamesir tarantula pro which has an extremely divisive d-pad (read: insensitive mechanical buttons)
Notice how Anon Babble only likes cheap 3rd party junk and dirt-cheap indie games? There's a reason.
Is there a good Playstation layout controller with analog triggers for $30 or less?
My 8bitdo Ultimate is dying, thanks to a temporary kitten stay damaging it pretty badly, so I need to find a good controller or replacement for my Switch or if I get the Switch 2 in the future. My Gamesir G7 SE is doing me fine, but the urge to upgrade to the Cyclone 2 is there since it's just inherently better apparently.
Now what the hell are the PS5 options without shelling out for a Brook adapter? It seems there's nothing good with hall effect but a $210 controller that looks really iffy.
What's the best third party xbox controller for PC gaming? I'm used to using the xbox just because I'm pretty sure that's been like the default schemeing for most games on PC. Like objectively the best joysticks, buttons, triggers etc.
at least stop shilling the C. the one with backbuttons mogs.
IINE Bastet often goes on sale under $30
otherwise I think it's just the hardwired 8Bitdo Pro 2, which didn't get the hall effect refresh
I'm waiting to see if it's Switch 2 compatible.
Plus I just hate the xbox coloring on the buttons, I'll wait for other variants
Never buying a thirdparty controller, I wont fall for it.
ok keep buying slop then idc
You type like a faggot.
claims others have low iq
cant structure a paragraph
Curious.
BigBig Won Blitz 2 TMR has the most going for it. Gamesir Cyclone 2 and Flydigi Vader 4 Pro are the closest runners-up. There's a sea of options below that, but they're all making additional compromises somewhere.
Review sites called the GameSir Cyclone 2 mediocre shit. You sure they lying? I like the idea of hall effect triggers and the TMR sticks on paper. But if they're worse in other aspects and cutting corners then that's no good either.
GameSir
shit
no way
BigBig Won Blitz 2 TMR
Thanks I'll get this one then. I've been looking to upgrade and Xbox Elite's controllers are probably a rip off given their history.
My only issue with the cyclone 2 is on my (linux) build I cant get 2 to connect at a time. Thats fucking it. Triggers, sticks, buttons, gyro, all great. As someone who likes to "activate gyro" on a half trigger press and have it turn off for a full trigger press, its a godsend. Im sure this reads like paid shilling so let me throw in "fuck chinks" for good measure
