The "wa" theme is in reference to Japanese wordplay. It worked best with Wario because not only is it Mario with the M flipped into a W, but it also sounds like Warui, which means bad. That's why it's Waluigi instead of Fuigi and Wapeach instead of deach. The 'wa' is like a prefix for 'bad' mario, bad luigi, and bad peach
