Miyazaki still has it. In fact, he's doing better than ever.
Shadow of the Erdtree will likely be his magnum opus.

Shadow of the Erdtree will likely be his magnum opus
Idk about that, but it is the pinnacle of contrarianism to suggest Fromsoft titles are bad all of a sudden. I didn't *love* ER like some previous FS titles, but I still had a good time with it. And I absolutely loved AC6.
DLC I think is flawed but still had a lot of cool stuff. And I am open minded to the upcoming multiplayer-centric titles. I would agree Miyazaki still has it
I overhyped the DLC for myself, but I still liked it. I just don’t think it made Elden Ring THAT much better. Old Hunters and Ringed City + Ashes boosted Bloodborne and DS3 by a whole point, but Shadow of the Erdtree doesn’t really change my ranking on Elden Ring THAT much. I like the new weapons and all but I wish the DLC featured more elements mentioned in the base game.
I didnt like erdtree, didnt feel like it built upon the game in any meaningful way, its just MORE. rellana and messmer are cool fights but they arent HOLY SHIT and good RNG can completely gut them. It wasnt horseshit but I expected a lot more as a far later expansion pack.
Other souls games have "Dude you gotta play the dlc" elden ring you can take or leave erdtree
Miyazaki literally said he hasn't made his Magnum Opus yet.
Until erdtree, dlcs were always best part ot the game hands down.
Is erdtree best part of the Elden Ring? Its great, for sure, but I dont think so.
His magnum opus will be an Escaflowne ARPG
He already peaked with Bloodborne. Everything after sucks or is going to suck but normgoids would eat it up until they move to the next big thing.
The full elden ring package will be talked about like morrowind for decades.
Miyazaki literally said he hasn't made his Magnum Opus yet.
He can say whatever he wants, but Dark Souls came out sixteen years ago.
Shadow of the Erdtree is like a strawman of Elden Ring. Open world is tedious and pointless, and a lot of the bosses push the combat to its breaking point (in particular the final boss).
Frankly I think it was too ambitious and getting 2-3 smaller Dark Souls 3 scale DLCs would have been better.
who the fuck cares about le unpopular opinions on Anon Babble of all places? fucking contrarian nigger (you) addict city.
SoTE actually did the open world properly and designed it more like a Souls game, but unfortunately it was still a bit bare bones with little in the way of meaningful rewards aside from the tree fragments, because it's a DLC
Shadow of the Erdtree
worst dlc he ever made
SoTE actually did the open world properly and designed it more like a Souls game
u wot? It's the exact opposite, SotE's open world was empty and pointless. Abyssal Woods in particular was horrendous.
If Erdtree is magnum opus then there's nothing but downhill for Formsoft's future
i think it's the best he's put out, yes
it fixed the open world of base
the npcs are the best
the dungeons are the best
the only failure was the final boss.
Where's the Erdtree hate coming from? It has good encounters, cool level design, some beautiful areas, even varied gameplay with some platforming segments, massively expanded build tools, and good characters.
Like it's expensive and it sucks that you need to play like 20 hours to even get to it but it's pretty cool.
it praised anywhere outside Anon Babble
and i don't think Anon Babble hate it either, just a couple of contrarian group
Hackiazaki hasn't had it since Sekiro. Lies of P shits on DS and Elden Shit, and so does Nine Sols and Khazan
Radahn being the final boss is actually great for shock value alone, anyone else would be predictable
The entire DLC is great, jsut with the final encounter being the true point of going to fat for from fans, and some of the weapons being mediocre.
However the entire dragon Storyline was fantastic and the journey to Saint Trina was the best part of the DLC.
Where's the Erdtree hate coming from?
Scadu fragments.
The final boss being a poorly made rehash of a mid-game boss from the base game.
People sensing it was two different DLCs that got haphazardly mashed together.
Too many barren areas with joke tier worthless loot.
The second point is probably the biggest issue. If the finale had been more satisfying, people would be more willing to overlook other flaws.
These games are as good as ever but after so many years of souls-likes they just don't have the same impact on me they once had.
It needed Godwyn. I love radahn but Radahn AGAIN is gay as hell. Marika bringing back godwyn the golden as he corrupts and gets progressively more or less fucked up as the fight goes on would have been sick. You could do a 4 phase fight (in either order) where you fight the giant fish, and then a smaller more spastic fish, and then a goopy fucked up godwyn, and the. PERFECT FORM GODWYN THE GOLDEN. But no, we got radahn with some gay annoying moves....
marika
I meant miquella
Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree are the pinnacle of Fromsoftware enemy, combat and boss design. The only reason shitters hate Elden Ring is because they can't get away with spamming rolls, let alone spamming dodges by design like Bloodborne, a more casual appealing game, and you actually need to react properly to the enemy and optimize your movement.
Shock for its own sake isn't good. It's a really lame fight where Radahn feels weirdly small, his gravity magic is weaker than it should be, and he's just being carried by Miquella's magic anyways. A Miquella fight where he moved more like Messmer would have been significantly better. And obviously a well executed Godwyn fight would have been the best.
Godwyn was never connected to Miquella
Miquella tried to kill him to bring back Ensha to life, and Ensha was the original Prince of Death
youtu.be
You can actually see the difference between Deathroot undead and Ensha undead, it's very similar to how Ranni and Godwyn died together
Miquella and Castle Sol wanted to restore the Seat of the Sun and needed Ensha to rectify what Messmer did
What you are asking is for headcanon
It's a pretty good fight at least. I feel like the most seethe came from the lore camps because on that front there were a lot more questions then answers all while being told there won't be any more elden ring.
On the other hand the sword lance and greatshield just rolls everything in the game. As a strength chad that dislikes the moveset of colossal class weapons I was cool with this.
dark souls 1 dlc is one of the lowest quality piles of shit somebody can subject themselves to. I can't believe fromdrones hype that garbage up.
More questions
That's not true at all
The game explains the lore. People chose to ignore it because they want the story to follow the headcanon they had made from their poor understanding of the base game
headcanon
Dont give a shit. Its cooler than radahn v2
Frfr
This dlc will be remembered as the peak of vidya, a modern lord of the ring and we going to see a copy of eldenring next to monalisa
It really isn't. Radahn feels way less imposing and powerful than the first time you fight him, cheapening his character overall. It was an extremely underwhelming fight.
This
what if we took that guy you fight who is all fuckhuge and is holding the entire sky up and make him the size of a gorilla and he does a bunch of gay light based anime moves
why can't either side just accept they are all great games with some obvious flaws.
ig sekiro and BB are much closer to perfection due to smaller scale
Proving me right People wanted a nonsensical fan pandering story because they don't understand nor value the setting.
Miquella wanted to being back the soul of Old Lord Marika had killed because the Sun restores the Old Order pre-Marika actions, which is what he achieves in the DLC, but only in Enir-Ilim
People prefer mundane and basic lore they can instantly grasp, just like every media today has NOT! nazis so you understand they are evil. They can only think of basic elements and Miyazaki will never appeal to broader audiences as writer
it woud've been better if first radhan was an actual husk like a joke or gimmick fight and in the we fight the prime radhan
I disagree. they both feel like very different fights mostly due to his first fights mobility and use of magic while Radahn forma de Mohglested is far more of a melee bruiser. Then there's all the weird shit gay boy gets up to which is fun.
That's just opinions though.
ig sekiro and BB are much closer to perfection
No they are not, they are clearly inferior in many ways
great games with some obvious flaws
Rollspamming being punished is not a flaw
kys contrarian faggot or post games you like
everything's fucked, everybody sucks
okay mr Limp-Dick Bizkit
I don’t know, I feel the opposite. Consort Radahn is way more menacing than Starscourge, and obviously way harder too. Better soundtrack, too. Starscourge Radahn is just whatever; he moves around like he’s supposed to be powerful, but he just holds back. Promised Consort Radahn actually feels like a proper moving tank with a pro behind the wheel. His regular attacks aren’t that wild, but that long wind-up combo is bound to wreck you, and he doesn’t flinch when you hit him. And you're just lying if the second phase isn't an absolute brutal wrecking monster.
post games you like
Elden Ring
Bloodborne is an inferior version of nu-Souls with horrid DOGSHIT boss roster, half of which has as unique gimmick breaking lock on and attacking you from where you can't see using sound clues you can only guess first time, and with absolutely dogshit RPG mechanics with Blood Gems being an incredible downgrade.
Sekiro is just boring. You go through the motions of a fight predesigned for you to do the same exact thing. It lacks everything interesting about how From does hitbox combat and animation tells.
Godwyn already has a whole questline and ending. His story is over.
Sekiro is amazing
BB looks the same as many others though
But we didn't get a cool melee bruiser like, say, Godfrey with this version of Radahn. We got a pipsqueak with both pathetic magic and really lame, unimpressive melee attacks. It's really easy to get him to phase 2 as well.
This post comes off like you're just being contrarian for the sake of it. Consort Radahn in phase 1 would be extremely forgettable if you didn't already know who he was. Nothing about him is particularly interesting or memorable, and his attacks simply aren't cool and don't feel impactful. He's nothing close to the awesome spectacle he was the the first time around. And phase 2 is all Miquella, so it doesn't actually make Radahn himself seem any less lame.
Of course he does. He's the last who does. There hasn't been a single game I've not dropped since this. We need to clone him.
And radahn is already fucking dead, so fucking what?
Elden Ring merely exists for the purpose of adult gamers to be able to claim that they're not actually doing childish things by playing games on their console, but playing a hard game for socially established "bros".
It enables them to justify their gaming habbits - "Not actually gaming in the classical sense, doing adult things instead!!!"
You're pathetic!
it's weird that they don't have time to create just a few extra new enemies in later areas. I don't think it's really that hard to implement. The blue/red/white flowery areas are beautiful yet they don't have a single new encounter. Still it is my favorite dlc
i feel like it shoehorned me into being a healer who just spam heals my mimic tear and maybe throws out an occasional lightning bolt, im probably retarded though, but no other souls game made me do that and i could beat all them using just a baseline weapon and skill. Now its like retard bullshit and i spam heal
This post comes off like you're just being contrarian for the sake of it.
And surely your post isnt? Lmao
i think miyazaki has defeated me. i beat the base game of elden ring but i got the DLC and the difficulty jump slowed me down pretty good. then i saw the videos of the radahn fight and i just felt deflated, like the whole thing seems beyond both my skill level and my capacity for the patience I'd need to git gud. morale is low, i am asking myself 'what would guts do'
Miyazaki still has it. In fact, he's doing better than ever.
I see we're in a joke thread then
Miquella is literally griffith
now you can clearly see what guts would do
This is obvious ragebait but you're not far off.
Souls' success comes from that, the idea that you're playing a 'hardcore' game even though you're not. The difficulty you see in Souls games was more or less the standard for games in the 90s and 2000s. Even bonfires are just checkpoints, which is a design choice that used to be very prevalent and fell out of favor when games started to become more cinematic and hand-holdy (which also has to do with Souls' success, Dark Souls released at the peak the movie-game craze). The bosses themselves are nothing special. Your average action game features boss fights that are arguably harder. Think your DMC, Jak and Daxter, Ace Combat... Most of the games from that era were just as hard as souls, if not more. It was the standard.
Audiovisually, the games are also pretty bad. Maybe not outright bad, but nothing to speak of. The only thing that gets praise is the music, and most of that is coming from people who don't listen to orchestral/classical and thus praise it blindly. It's not bad, but it's certainly not good, either. A lot of it is repetitive and generic, with only a few memorable tracks. The narrative and worldbuilding is complete shit and even Miyazaki even admits it.
They're just really mediocre games but they grew a sort of reputation for being hardcore which is very rare in AAA these days, and there's nothing more your typical gamer wants more than to be taken seriously. It's a whole psychology thing. Harvest Moon is for kids and a waste of time, but beating Elden Ring? That's a real challenge, only REAL gamers can do that.
Just a lot of insecurity and trend-chasing, basically.
Less dead than Godwyn
why haven't fromsoft moved from ladders already?
there are tons of other ways to implement linear escalation
[...] there's nothing more your typical gamer wants more than to be taken seriously.
I pride myself in having beaten "Gears of War 5" on inconceivable with a broken controller, which only 0.7% of gamers achieved.
Why do you all have to play Souls-games like a braindead horde of zombies, where you cannot even compare yourself against the others by adjusting the difficulty grade and then find out in what league you succeeded?
Is this all there is? Repeating "Elden Ring" and "Souls this", "Souls that" like a spazz all the time? I mean, WTF?!
There are also other games that can be hard, simply adjust the difficulty slide, bro, alright?
Why do you all have to play Souls-games like a braindead horde of zombies, where you cannot even compare yourself against the others by adjusting the difficulty grade and then find out in what league you succeeded?
You're starting to get it. Because the people who play Souls games don't actually want to play a hard game. Even really casual, normie-friendly games like TLOU have 'hardcore' difficulty modes (Grounded, in this case) which are harder than any Souls game. And curiously, you don't see a lot of discussion or bragging about playing these games with these difficulty settings.
Because once again. These are people more interested in appearing or 'feeling' hardcore than actually being hardcore.
Actual 'hardcore' players are stuck in genres like fighting games, MMOs, mobas, or speedrunning.
Radahn plots his dead and burns his grace to go the the Realm of Shadow, Malenia uses the Scarlet Rot to rebirth his brother as spirit in the Land of Shadow.
Malenia's design and the Grand Cloister are even based off the Isis temple of Philae, and Isis resurrected her brother in the underworld.
Everything about the Battle of Aeonia was in preparation for the events of the DLC. Just because you couldn't see the build up. It doesn't mean it wasn't there
Use Endure on a big sword and ironjar aromatic
Git gud
Godwyn's soul is gone. Radahn's soul isnt.
What race is the most Jewish in Tamriel?
The Dwemer.
blasphemes and ricicule weak Aedric gods
promote heresey and profanity on Tamriel
create a false imitation of a god, Akulakhan with the hope to revive Lorkhan's spirit
continue to blaspheme with sacred tones
shoahs themselves
It needed Godwyn
Nah.
But it needed something more than a Radahn reskin.
