I don't like the fact that optimizing builds makes you melt bosses in seconds. Now that I finally played this game, I can say that it probably has the best gameplay overall in the series just because of the freedom you have(and also mechas), but the combat leaves a lot to desire, the fact that party members are useless, you don't have clear classes like healers and tanks, combat in skells being kinda worse than on foot and very dependent on luck with cockpit time, etc. I still think xeno 2 has the best combat once you unlock everything, I like how you don't one shot any bosses even with optimized builds.

There definitely could have been some post game dungeons to go through, kinda like the blade factory from XC2. More tyrants that have mid fight mechanics like Vita, that gaint worm that calls in a second giant worm or Dadadan summoing waves of adds you have to burst down would be cool too.

I think this is the real issue here. X's art system with overdrive but with a proper healer and tank class would be awesome. Maybe even split up damage into dps and debuffs too.

You NEED to melt bosses in seconds as you have no real good mid battle defensive mechanics beyond Astral Projection most auras hardly help you stay alive and even then its just set and forget. Taunting doesn't do much because you mainly die due to huge AOE attacks anyway so it doesn't matter if they tank. Its why you need a strategy of either astral proj, decoy spam, topple locking or reflect to actually be tanky.
Another big problem of X is despite having a ton of tyrants, really only a few are needed to be beaten to get max survey rate. Someone who just focus on that can miss a lot of challenging and unique fights.

All 2 needed to be perfect is a way to min max shittier blades. Like a NG+ ability that lets you get any blade to have 3 augs and maybe give some a secondary tree to make up for less blades weaknesses.

That's because the only defensive option in this game is be immortal or die in one hit, so they designed the combat in a way to be done as fast as possible. I heard the director loves fast combat so it is what it is.

They designed the combat around skell bulk in post-game, they aren't going to get one shot with slightly more res to wall a single strong attribute and using evasion to dodge most of the rest.
On ground you can also mix res and evasion, but it's just faster to go for decoys, reflects or statuslocks.

I like fast combat too, that's why I hated the chain links in xeno 3, but I want to at least see what the boss can do, getting insta killed by the boss or killing him so fast without even seeing what he does is not cool, multiple times in the game I got killed by a boss because of some bullshit he did and then just killed him faster the next try without even understanding what he was doing.

I don't mind some subtlety like in the original game where you don't need to know shit about the other games and still you feel like you can experience the game in its entirety. All this link does is make it so that you're at least somewhat invested in all the other games to feel the full impact of what they wanted to do, but it feels unbelieavably cheap. It's no longer background details, the entire narrative hinges on this and derails the original point.

To be fair, Xeno2 is very infamous for obscuring mechanics, numbers and giving you very misleading skill descriptions or information. I can forgive whoever says they didn't get it without looking stuff up and being led into the slowest way to play it(generate a lot of orbs then pop all of them in a chain), but that's an issue with poor communication rather than actually bad combat.
Forget postgame grinding or whatever, I did a replay of the game after looking shit up and realized a lot of the mechanics can be used effectively all the way through, the biggest issue isn't stacking damage as much as dealing with the initial shitty Break chance.

Not particularly. The game tells you the (little) important information you need to know about 2 and there's one post-game optional character you'll know slightly less about but that's about it. The only thing you should really consider is that 3 spoils 2's big twist so if you want to play 2 unspoiled you should take that into consideration.

Yes, you can largely play 1, X and 2 without playing any others though playing 1 will help you understand the ending of 2 a bit better but you need to have played 1 and 2 to follow what happens in 3.

The time it takes to set the orbs is already too long, even with orb master. You can do that if you want to, but you it's hardly the only way to play.
Most people will find that slow and would probably enjoy reading up how to amplify your damage early on thanks to fusion combos: basically just go Break(topple only if you are comfortable with the shorter timer) into a party member using their first special, then your lv4 special, then the other party member finishing with their lv3 instantly, and if the enemy is not fucking exploding yet hit the chain attack button immediately before the Break ends. The best combo path to do that available early is definitely Earth->Fire->Earth, you get both Poppi and Wulfric in every playthrough for it.

Not sure what you mean. Irina's knife generates more TP on auto-attacks(unless you equipped her with ramjet rifle) and the AI will do that when it wants to, but in terms of damage stats she should focus on ranged attack instead. But personally I would give her potential for bigger heals and whatever traits/augs help her gain TP, make her focus on support arts like last stand or doing topples with assault hammer.

The stuff I'm talking about for 2 works with every single combo path, nearly every blade combination as long they can do one combo, and can be flipped to do DoT stacking with driver combos instead for people who hate chain attacking.
