He's saying that Nintendo recognizes the Switch 2 is more expensive and not everyone can buy one, but they will continue supporting Switch 1 for people who can't get into Switch 2. That's a good compromise.

If you guys can't see the difference in the statements, there's nothing more to talk about here. Xbox 360 was a fucking desert when the Xbox One launched because people that cared about Microsoft moved to One and people that didn't simply moved to a different platform altogether. Switch is still guaranteed to have players, updates to NSO (when a new VC version is released, they don't ignore the other ones maybe with the exception of the Sega Genesis one) and as of right now NS2 titles that get upgrades will likely still be playable with NS1 copies. A big factor for Xbox 360 users was Xbox Live multiplayer games, which in many cases did not have that compatibility and as a result the comment seemed that the playerbase would outright be split, which is a genuine concern for everyone involved.
