HA HA PIRACY SO FUNNY!!!!!

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE ITS RUINED MULTIPLE INDUSTRIES OR ANYTHING

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE INDIE DEVELOPERS HAVE SUFFERED, AND STILL SUFFER EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THIER LIVES

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE PIRACY IS ABHORRANT TO ANYONE WITH EVEN THE SLIGHTEST SENSE OF DECENCY

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE THERE'S AN OPENLY PRO-PIRACY SCHIZOPHRENIC TRANNY CRACKING DENUVO OR ANYTHING

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE LEGITIMATE GAME DEVS HAVE SOUTH AMERICA AND EASTERN EUROPE ALL WORKING AGAINST THEM

HAHA WOW PIRACY IS SO HILARIOUS, RIGHT?!

I MEAN, IT'S NOT LIKE IT’S COMPLETELY GUTTED ENTIRE INDUSTRIES OR ANYTHING.

IT’S NOT LIKE INDIE DEVELOPERS CRY THEMSELVES TO SLEEP EVERY NIGHT WHILE PEOPLE BRAG ABOUT STEALING THEIR WORK.

IT’S NOT LIKE PIRACY IS AN ABSOLUTE DUMPSTER FIRE OF ETHICS THAT ANY SEMI-FUNCTIONING MORAL COMPASS WOULD REJECT.

IT’S NOT LIKE LEGIT DEVS ARE JUST CALMLY WATCHING HALF THE GLOBE SAY, “THANKS FOR THE GAME, NOW GO STARVE.”

lmao

don't need one because of emulation

modchipped

I got mine on launch and softmodded it specifically so I could play TotK early
I already gave Nintendo enough of my money up until then

calm down nigga

why the seethe

I loathe that I can't turn it off unless I want to plug it back into my pc each time to switch to the emuSwitch, so I'm not as portable as I'd like on the handheld portable system, but I get to play nintendo games I wouldn't of bought otherwise.

dont need a chipped switch because im a launch date chad and use the jig
that said i havent touched my nintendo since totk came out, and before that hadnt touched it since mario galaxy remake.
the switch is a terrible console and having every game for free doesnt change that

My system is jigged. Can't wait for the switch 2 to be hacked as well (lmaoing @ $80 games)

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE ITS RUINED MULTIPLE INDUSTRIES OR ANYTHING

stop

deal with it

I sacrificed a joycon instead of buying a jig
It was sketchy as fuck but now I have a piece of tinfoil wedged into a joycon that I can just slide in any time I need to boot into RCM mode
Good thing I have like 6 of em

My switch is a first revision, so it's not chipped. I did autorcm to avoid the paperclip, though.

freeshop I had is gone

if/when it comes back it'll be with no updates or DLC

I mean I'm not going to complain about piracy, but it is annoying

Is autoRCM really this much of a filter?
As long as you don't let the battery die it's basically a non-issue, and when not running in Android mode it'll last days in sleep

Here in my country it costs $80 to buy the modchip, including the guys' soldering work. That's the price of a Switch 2 game.
I just haven't done the procedure yet because my joycons are broken and I don't know if I want to put down another $80 to buy replacements for them...
I also don't know how easy it is to install pirated games. I don't want to spend time trying to get games to work, risk screwing something up in the process, keep updating firmwares, etc... Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to play a pirated game on a hacked Switch?

I'm the first guy you replied, I literally have it in autoRCM.

You underestimate how often I let the Switch battery die on accident

I prefer my Steam Deck

just emul8

It's sitting unused and discharged on a shelf somewhere right now, there isn't even anything worth pirating nowadays

the switch is a terrible console and having every game for free doesnt change that

The Switch has 15k games released, anon. Even if only 1% of the games are good, you already have games for years.

right, so as long as it doesn't fully turn off you don't need to re-inject
I don't fully turn off my Switch ever unless the battery dies, like

Has anyone mod chipped their PC before?

I'd wager 10,000+ of those games are literal trash that clog up the eShop

thats probably the only reason im buying it on release
i jigged mine as well when i even realized that you can mod it without any hardware mods

Have a V1 switch I hacked as soon as it was available, every 6 months is the same routine:

new game comes out

freeshop is ded

firmware is outdated

Atmosphere is outaded

stard updating

error on reboot

spend the day troubleshooting and fixing everything

play game for a week

Switch collects dust for 6 months

Rinse and repeat for at least 7 years now. Thanks for reminding me to check on my Switch

I keep putting off using it because I can't fucking figure out what all I need to update for cfw

Dbi
Drag and drop nsp files

Exact same here

Do BIOS mods and JTAG count?

spend the day troubleshooting

9/10 all you gotta do is re-download and install atmosphere and hekate, especially if you've got the auto sigcheck plugin
The free shop drama has been awful though, I just install manually

that's the dumbest thing possible
just get a 3d printed jig my dude

Nigger

The shop thing is a disaster
I also just do it manually at this point
Maybe someday myrient will host switch roms and we'll have a port of hShop

great

Just softmodded my PS2 fat yesterday, free mcboot, SD adapter for MC, HDD tray and SATA to IDE adapter, life is great

I was literally broke at the time and I really wanted to play TotK early so I did what I had to do
No regrets, the joycon works every time

Thank you. But what about what this anon said: Does that apply to anyone who uses the DBi thing?

Sure

Excellent, I had never been interested in the Switch but the Oled is great and I'm having a great time, especially because I haven't used Nintendo since the 2DS so I have too much to enjoy.

Maybe someday myrient will host switch roms and we'll have a port of hShop

Definitely not with switch 2 being backwards compatible.

Does homebrewing switch lite still require you to buy a $300 modchip? At this point why not buy steam deck?

To be fair, you can modify a joycon into a jig non-destructively and still use it as a joycon
Just cut a small hole for a pushbutton or switch and solder leads to the right pins

Pretty much the same with all my softmodded consoles. PSP, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Switch, Steam Deck if it counts, probably Switch 2 if it's easily exploitable. I'll pick each one up once a year, spend a week updating all the CFW and homebrew and installing some new games, play it for about 6 hours, then back in the closet so I can go back to playing vidya on my PC like usual.

I think I like the process of modding and the potential for unlimited gaming more than actually playing games themselves. Kind of like following the instructions to build a Lego set is fun, except with a higher chance for troubleshooting. I also have severe ADHD which might play a role in this

I have an OG Switch, so I can hack mine without a mod chip. One of the reasons I'm considering getting a Switch 2 at launch is because I'm hoping a similar exploit will be found.

sold it because they dropped the ball with the new animal crossing.
hope that with the announcement that they're gonna support the switch for a bit longer I get to install a few more chips

Great. My friend won Switch when he made first place in some big programming competition and gifted it to me for my birthday. I chipped it for like $5 and was playing free games since.

kek I do this too
PSP, Vita, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, and Switch all softmodded and I barely play em

my joycons are broken

What exactly is broken? I have fixed both my Joycons at least 3 times. If they are drifting try dropping Isopropyl or spraying picrel then spastically move them around. Should fix it in 80% of the cases, if not take them apart and try to manually clean them. The L and R buttons will also die due to poor design, the part costs $5 on amazon. Just be careful and use tweezers when working on them.

how easy/difficult it is to play a pirated game on a hacked Switch

It's both easy and difficult, it's on a 2/10 difficulty scale overall, but then there's that one game you want to play and it doesn't work and cascades into everything is broken now and it can be a real headache to solve but in the end it's worth it because you're gonna learn alot.

87848.jpg - 800x800, 85.37K

Configuring the devices to your liking is fun too, but generally you don't play anything because there are so many options. This is normal, it will happen with everything, even if you get a harem of 500 women, you won't feel attached to them in the same way as having a single girlfriend.

Drift on both sticks, L and R don't work 90% of the time, A and X sometimes get stuck when I press them, they disconnect from the Switch periodically when I'm playing. I'm no troglodyte, but I've somehow destroyed my joycons to the point where I don't even feel like trying to fix them.

My friend doesn't play his Switch so I was thinking of buying it off him but I'm not sure what version he has. How do I know if it's hackable?

Gathering dust. I felt such a king for modding my Switch, and then I upgraded my PC and replaced it with emulation

Modchip?
My switch has been software modded for many years

My JTAG 360 still gets used, currently playing Web of Shadows and Deadpool

Configuring the devices to your liking is fun too, but generally you don't play anything because there are so many options

Classic pirate's dilemma with homebrew consoles, except I find the problem gets worse with legitimate PC games because you spend a couple bucks here and there on key bundles and suddenly find yourself with a backlog of 500 decent titles that you feel slightly more obligated to play because you put some small amount of money into them.

Recently I've been so overwhelmed by my library that all I've been doing is playing a few hours of Renegade X or TF2 every other day because the decision paralysis is too much. Maybe I need to quit gaming entirely for a few months and get back into reading or something until it becomes interesting to try new games again.

look up a list of hackable switches by serial number

Fuck off piracy makes industries stronger. Fix your cost benefit ratio or fuck off. People dont even like pirating and if they bother to learn how its your fault. Look at how cheap and easy streaming killed torrents and now streaming wars are brining them back.

I have 4 nintendo switches that were gathering dust. Now I will support local commerce by paying someone to install a mod chip in all of them. I will only pirate indie games and send screenshots to the devs to let them know I didn't pay for the game.

denuvo

tick tock lil nigga. don't make me tap the attached image

If I could pirate your life and make a slave of you I would make a new one every day and have it cook the old one for food. Maybe make it rape the yesterday one too. The chinese tell me stress before death makes the long pig taste better.

Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to play a pirated game on a hacked Switch?

Depends if you wanna get Tinfoil or Ghostshop.

just get a chinkheld

It looks bad but is just a matter of cleaning them up, you will need to replace the ribbon cable (picrel) on both, get that contact cleaner thing too, this shit is like magic I recovered dead vol buttons phones with this. In my personal experience and expertise it would take an incredible amount of niggery to completely destroy the potentiometers in the joycon analogs. You should be able to resuscitate them at least a couple of time before they give out entirely

ribbon cable.png - 1400x580, 304.16K

fpbp

I'm waiting for my modded Lite to arrive
My first Nintendonconsole since thr GBA

Wrong, get a Steam Deck or ROG Ally X
there isn't a single chinkheld that can run Switch games hassle-free

Ghost went full paid, and UNX is out of date.... tho ive been getting some use out of lakka... i want a chinkheld for better gcn emulation tho :/

No, I didn't. Is it easy? Do I need to solder?
I think I already have all games I wanted in physical form, so I probably don't need it.

HA HA PIRACY SO FUNNY!!!!!

Hell yeah, it is! Based fun-loving anon!

Modded switch newfag here.
Why even bother with pirate stores?
Don't you have to connect to the internet through CFW, and isn't rhat risky?
Why not simply ownload the games manually?

i stopped caring if i get banned but its mainly for convenience and u can skirt around Nintendo servers with some homebrew things but again my shits so outta date i stop caring... old ass 90dns says im blocked but ive never bother updating lol. I do download everything manually now. Ghost supposedly made it so its base games only no updates nor dlc with out paying. So i found it useless now if sites have the whole kit and caboodle. Hell u dont even need a pc no more i do shot directly on my phone.

Just pay a competent guy to do it.

Convenience

based vexx enjoyer

No, although updating the DBI is just changing a file, and the Switch doesn't have much support left in terms of updates, so this would be the best time to start.
Updating a game is the same process as installing it, just drag the file.

I have a launch switch I barely played. I'm mostly on my 3ds still.

Switch has a lot of games apparently but I haven't felt compelled to mod my switch for any. I guess I will get around to BotW though, being the only main zelda I didn't beat.

I pirated my Switch and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing on it.
I'm not even implying that the Switch has no games. I had tons of games installed and tested to play.
I just didn't. Then Unicorn Overlord came out and instead of playing it on my Switch I just downloaded Ryuijnx and played it on there.

Ghost went full paid

Another one huh? The Switch piracy scene has been one giant shitshow since the beginning. Not just the freeshop shenanigans but all the tranny drama and rivalries

Install Retroarch, Switch is an underwhelming console but excellent as a PSP successor

Don't you have to connect to the internet through CFW, and isn't rhat risky?

It's not risky at all, people got around that problem years ago

1. People want convenience.
2. Some people don't have a PC.
If someone is number 2, I recommend not using stores; they always cause problems.
If you have a phone, you only need an adapter to transfer your Switch games. You don't even need a cable on Vita and 3Ds.

Just imagine the kids 20 years from now will call a Switch "Retro" game console.

nintendo deserves to suffer for peddling shit hardware you copypasting faggot

Yes, that's how it works. You probably had a PS2 and was calling the NES retro and it was only 15 years old when it released.

Even when PS3 and PS4 dropped we didn't call PS2 a retro console, its not how it worked, Saturn and PS1 are the cut-off date. Basically Pre-Second Millennium gaming was what the "retro" part was referring to. It was an old console for sure but not a retro console. Like how everyone used to call only music from 70s and prior "oldies." You get what I mean now?

emulating switch games

lol, no i was referring to emulating, hacked consoles are inferior in terms of what it can emulate when compared to android or windows handhelds

When is the graduation date to consider something as retro? That asshole Robb Alvey said nothing above SNES/GBA but went back on that and claims PS2 is now retro. What a piece of work.

I'm sticking to PS1/Saturn, pre-2000s consoles definition on Retro gaming.

what the fuck is a hekate

free shop drama

freeshop shenanigans

QRD?

amazing post

modchip

You can hardmod the Switch for CFW now?

Anything pre-HD is retro. It's the easiest to understand and makes the most sense.

Ever sense i got a job i started buying more games and pirating less.
I barely even pirate blouse humble bundle and game pass are just so much more convenient than piracy.

But i still Pirate Nitnedo games because fuck paying 60$ for 5+ year old games because Nitnedo has an over inflated opinion of itself.
Even when i do buy Nintendo games or consoles on rare occasions i buy used copies or used systems.
Nintedo is arguably one of the most toxic and anti-consumer game companies but people let nostalgia and childhood memories overshadow it.
The meme its Ok when Nintendo does it is unironically true and not even a joke.

No because GBA would be retro in your books, that was released in 2001. I keep it pre-2000s for a reason buddy.

Piracy always boosts sales because it forces developers to create better games.

It's a win-win, babies.

For a few years now, for a time it was the only way to get CFW on a Lite. It's still expensive and requires good soldering skills, don't expect picoboot level of accessibility.

I hold this opinion because at least its not like the western companies who keep throwing their garbo-politics into their video games and forcing us to watch their therapy sessions instead of giving us a proper game.

The GBA is retro though
"pre-2000" is extremely arbitrary and based only on when jesus was birthed (so if the Sega Genesis Nomad released a year later, it wouldn't be retro? and the Game Boy is retro but the Game Boy Color isnt?) if instead of actual shit like hardware capabilities and graphics.

Modchipped switch is just poorfag version of steam deck.

Wait, is there a software wau tk do CFW on a lite switch now??

Noting at the consoles being released, if its released on a console pre 2000s its retro, if not well too bad, that's modern gaming. Its also not only the hardware limitations but gameplay style and such that matter as well to me.

Hshop exists.

Do you think a person born in the year 3000 wont consider the GBA retro? I feel like games then will just look like the PS5 but only slightly better

In the year 3k

As long as civilization hasn't fucked itself over too hard yet at that point and still have things running as they are now. Well, either way, if they instead have developed things, we would probably have all that matrixy shit going on instead of regular gaming. You would be plugging into the VR set in SAO more likely than play a console game. They would look and feel real at that point in time 100% 1k years is long enough for that to happen.

I broke my console trying to mod it

You need a modchip on the Lite. I worded my post poorly, sorry

the future is just VR slop

grim

Pay someone to hack it.

Now newer games need an updated switch firmware and hack.

Cant update it in fear of risking a brick.

Hope I can find a cheap one someday once Ninty stops updating it.

its good. it's basically a brick since i got a computer capable of doing ryujinx.
i intend to sell my hacked switch once getting the save files and the digital games from the ofw off of it and onto the switch 2.

Post screenshots of the apps you have, post screenshot of system information, do you always keep it in sleep mode? The chances of bricking are like 0.1% even if you do something stupid.

(You)

What hack? You need to update the cfw first, then the console fw, then the sigpatches check the general

Getting kinda tired of the frame timings with emulation, so I might get a launch Switch 2 just so it can be easily modded.
How long did it take for the first Switch to find its exploit?

I have a softmodded switch
It's been sitting there for a few months gathering dust. I think the last thing I played on it was the latest Zelda and it was a terrible experience.

IIRC a couple of weeks, Nvidia fucked up and left a way to access recovery mode that gave total control over. If you get a Switch 2 either keep it in the box and wait. Fate rewards those who are patient.

Someone needs to take a hammer to that switch out of principle

That'll be 90 dollars

707798483

707798745

wtf is wrong with Anon Babble are you people THIS desperate

I tried getting it running again and the hekate page loads for a second and goes back to the normal switch homescreen. Haven’t tried it since

i barely have enough for rent and food. 90% of people who pirate shit is the same

Dont have it with me at the moment.
But thanks for responding.

It's not booting. Then again, I got one with a busted screen so I gotta wait for a replacement.

Do drop in chip upgrades count or does it have to be soldered? If it has to be soldered, lots of retro PC guys do stuff like that to max out or repair old systems. I saw a guy desolder a soldered Mac CPU once so he could replace its PowerPC G3 with an unsupported G4. I've also seen people make custom add in cards when an original card wasn't available.

I used Checkpoint to transfer all my saves to Yuzu after like 1 year of using that dumb toy, who the fuck plays on original hardware anymore?

I have a soft modded PS2 that can play burned PS1 games without emulation. That's the closest I've got.

Is this achievable from OPL?

Modded systems do not automatically equate to piracy. Loads of people do it for that reason. There are also very legitimate reasons to do it, such as archiving your saves, making backups of your games, adding functionality to the console that is missing from stock, and in the case of the Switch, being able to stream your PC games and play them there.

Based shit game enjoyer

No, the IOP can't be accessed with any of the PS2's systems while in PS1 mode. Its a mod called mechapwn that removes the region checking from the system, which is what is normally used for the DRM. So as far as the console knows, I'm just feeding it genuine PS1 discs.

V1 Switch is truly one of the greatest consoles ever produced.

not my problem

DIY jig chads, report in

I'm on version 19.0.1, which I heard used to cause overheating problems. However, ismyswitchpatched.com said mine wasn't patched after I entered the serial number. Should I go for it?

Modchip

Miss me with that gay shit. I use a modded V1

my hacked switch is useless since i can just emulate the game on my pc at 2x res 60fps

Mine is OLED at least

I'm on version 19.0.1, which I heard used to cause overheating problems.

Source? I'm on 19.0.1 and haven't seen issues nor have I heard of this.

Should I go for it?

If you got a spare Switch, ye

hehe the thumbnail makes it look like your paper clip has speed lines

"When I looked it up, I only saw one or two forum posts about it, so it might be nothing. This is my only Switch, so I’m a little worried. My girlfriend was about to sell hers, though, so if something goes wrong, I could just get it from her.

Unless you have a spare one, wouldn't risk it, especially if you got online "purchases" o-

GTFO

CUZ ITS NOT LIKE ITS RUINED MULTIPLE INDUSTRIES OR ANYTHING

prove it.

And to give a comparison, anime and the niche markets in there could not have had a massive fan base in the West without piracy to give people exposure and want to throw their money their way.

Bought myself a v1 switch recently only to realize there isn't really any game I want to play. Back in the day I was really into nintendo consoles playing pokemon black, pokemon mystery dungeon, mario bros wii, mario galaxy, DQMJ, zelda phantom hourglass, zelda ww and tp.

Now I just downloaded BOTW, mario bros U deluxe, mario wonder , mario kart, and shit is just boring I can't get into it

As a Belarusian entity, we are not bound by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

lmao

mig switch was supposed to usher in an era of cheap switch flash carts. I don't want to learn how to solder I just want to relive the R4 days

i have a v1 patched switch, so i get the worse of both worlds, no improved battery the v2 has, and no easy jailbreaking the switch 1 has.
and since i'm a third worlder i couldn't hope to mod it myself, now i can buy stuff from aliexpress (the modchip and soldering kit) but i'm too scared to fuck my console up, at this point i will just wait for the switch 2 and hope it's easy to jailbreak.

i also have a psvita that's jailbroken, but it was a console i had when i was still a kid and it's kind of fucked up, i've seen ones going for 160$ dollars on aliexpress and kinda tempted, but on the other side i'm too poor to buy consoles just because my old is a rough

switch has a bunch of good games, monster hunter rise, astral chain, mario odyssey, hollow knight, cuphead

there's a bunch of jrpgs on eshop I'd love to play while in bed but there is no way I'm paying eshop prices

nintendo is so greedy and it saddens me to see players defending them, recently saw the news that the switch 2 edition of botw won't include the dlc and people in the comments were defending it by saying the switch 2 edition is already a great deal and how we shouldn't ask for too much and to respect other people's opinions.

it really saddens me, a wiiu game from 8 years ago for 80$ and they didn't even include the dlc's, and people will buy it, i know it's just videogames but it shows that we will never improve as a society, just accepting anything as long as we get the little dopamine rush.

Should I get a hacked switch or a steam deck?
Is switch emulation on the deck good enough?

My launch Switch is doing fine, I can RCM it and have a CFW setup mostly for dumping my games now.
I have a 1TB microSD in there, got a 1.5TB microSD back in November but wasn't able to figure out migrating the whole emuMMC image even though I'd done for a previous 512GB to 1TB upgrade.
I might take another crack at it soon. The firmware update with Virtual Game Cards is coming up, and this could potentially fuck with a lot of CFW things especially around dumping games.

I don't see the point in Mig Switch.
If you use it for piracy, that Switch will get banned pretty easily.
If you use it for legitimate back-ups, you probably already have a CFW solution and could just run backups installed to an EmuMMC, or the original cartridge if it's something that needs online play.

Depends, how heavy is your rig?
If it can't emulate, you're better off buying a switch.

It hasn't gone anywhere you can buy one and a dumper on ali, and clones are starting to pop up too

Having a USB to PC game card dumper is tempting, but it doesn't help much when dumping any digital updates and DLCs is an important step that must be done using a Switch.

It's going great. Have a softmodded 2017 launch unit and a newer hardmodded OLED, recently got into undervolting and overclocking. Both can now play games at twice their original performance, often 60fps lol it's insane how much power Nintendo just left on the table

It's all because they want to keep a consistent play experience between docked and handheld, and not tank the battery life for handheld.
It's actually pretty damning how hard the underclocking limited the system for 8 long years, but it was also things like the low and slow 4GB RAM.

Come to think of it I don't know the proper specs of the Switch 2, just the bits like 4k60 / 1080p120 support.

I've installed coreboot to support quad core ivybridge i7's on my thinkpad t420

recently saw the news that the switch 2 edition of botw won't include the dlc

Really? I'm looking online, and I can't find anything about that

There are (many) people out there who will buy a Switch 2 for $450 and then Metroid and Pokemon Z-A for $80 each to play the same games I'll pirate, play early and free with a slightly better framerate. lmao.

don drink.jpg - 720x691, 44.59K

so if i get a newer model of the switch i need to soft mod it with a chip? is hat correct?

A chip is not softmodding, but yeah, you need to modchip it.
Only switches you can right now easily mod are 2016/2017 models.

the two extremes , both of you need to fucking die

stop having a melty over piracy you're cringe

here in Brazil they sell switches already moded in some way. might take a look at some of them in the near future.

devs get paid on a monthly basis little uneducated fag

Long story short sorta short. ghost started some maintenance on the free side, didnt finish it properly, told people to check out the paid side, mod silents literally everyone that try to discuss what happend to free side or encourage them to pay as well. Randomly decided to gimp downloads to 0.01mb on the free side excuse was more maintenance, Final nail ( at least to me ) was a plan to reopen the free side but with no updates or dlcs... making it in my opinion useless. UNX is a russian shop im assuming, ran via dbi

Literal peice of aluminum, 60% of the time it works everytime

You guys don’t have a 3D printer or $9 lying around to buy a jig?

I also own a actual switch jig... but showing the crack head aluminum is always more funny, i got a 2 pack for 6 dollars lol
