The worst part about these games is that "Kratos calms down and reevaluates his priorities" could've worked. In fact, it was the perfect and clear way to go after the last of the old games. But they handled it so poorly, changed the game too much, and turned Kratos into a stupid faggot.

Kratos wasn't a little edgy, he was an edgelord. And not every character needs to be mature, that's just the take they had for this new instance. Kratos still has it in him, but solving his problems by first using his mind instead of his fists is solid development for a character like him.

I don't think doom's story centers around him enough to make that development possible. That way I see it could be very awkward. Kratos has a personality since inception and remaining strong and deadly until the end, so I think it's way more apt.

He killed everyone cuz he couldn't control his rage. The issue isn't having a scene acknowledging that Kratos was a very flawed individual, the issue is how preachy the execution is.

First one has probably the most gory one with one of Thor's son, you hack him a couple times on the body during the uctscene and end up cleaving his head. Picrel, excuse the poor quality its a shitty screenshot from a youtube vid.
On the second game at some point you trap the arm of a boss with an exploding spear and since he wont surrender just blast his arm clear off, so again not as gruesome as Hades' or Hermes' but still fun.
He was legit insane and his writing got worse in 3 and he started "caring" about pandora out of nowhere, despite killing everyone in front of him. He had no honor, but was betrayed by not only Atlas, but most Gods themselves; so that's a reason why he went on a killing spree. That's what the series was about, killing things.
