Murderhobo is pretty well defined from the root words. It's someone who wanders like a hobo and murders. I'd assume the vast majority of murderhobos don't finish the game on that run, even if they get a lot of good gear in the process.

I don't kill unless it is a dialogue option that kills or leads to combat. Of course, I also kill when attacked first.

One of the things that piss me the most about games like Skyrim and he latest flop Starfield is that enemies vocalize their surrender... but don't actually surrender.

Starfield has a stungun non-lethal weapon that serves absolutely no purpose except for one quest, where it sees no use ever again. Pisses me off to no end.

i prefer a diplomatic approach because keeping npcs alive often leads to more branching storylines and stuff whereas if u kill them you basically know whats gonna happen, you hit them a few times and theyre dead and gone. i will go the kill route if they are like gay or annoying though like in bg3 i killed astarion right off the bat bc i didnt want to spend the whole game listening to some gay vampire talk
