Part of it is that it's not a pre-packaged OS.
Part of it is that Linux users are smug assholes and in general, people tend to respond extremely negatively to that sort of behavior. When you talk down on someone or act like you're superior to them, it basically makes it almost impossible to get them to agree with you.

It's one of the principle reasons why flat-earthers and anti-vaxxers still exist. These people already have obvious mental issues, but when people talk down on them and call them retarded subhuman faggots, it causes them to just double down. Statistically, it is generally easier to convince someone of something if you treat them with a degree of respect, but more often than not, the convincers have a tendency to approach the convincees with an inflated sense of self-superiority and sabotage themselves before they even start.

This is basically the crux of the issue with tech-savvy Linux users who are constantly trying to get more people to use Linux. They almost always come with a smug sense of superiority and the unwashed masses just don't gel with that shit, so you're never gonna convince anyone.
