I'm seeing my family in Morocco for 10 days, looking for RPGs with good gameplay other than picrel
Looking for 3DS rpg recs
Rune Factory 4
Is the 3ds version good?
Yeah, it's the same game but the RNG events are slightly more annoying, but that's endgame/marriage shit
monster hunter 4 ultimate
not exactly an RPG but it will last you literally thousands of hours
Also I will mention that the 3D effects are actually incredible, especially at that last bossfight. I accidentally nudged the switch and turned it on during the fight and it was great
I probably missed out on a lot of cool effects like that
Crimson Shroud.
Dragon quest VIII with the orchestral soundtrack mod
Bravely Default is a must for the 3DS, although there is the Switch 2 re-release if you're one of those types who plans on splurging immediately after it comes out.
Beyond the Labyrinth (English patch needed)
Dragon Quest VII
Dragon Quest VIII (get the patch that adds the original orchestral soundtrack back in)
Dragon Quest Monsters - Terry's Wonderland 3D, Dragon Quest Monsters 2 - Cobi and Tara's Marvelous Mysterious Key, and Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - Joker (English patch needed for all three)
Devil Survivor 1 and 2
Devil Summoner: Soul Hacker
The Legend of Legacy
Bravely Defualt
Bravely Second
Fire Emblem Echoes
Crimson Shroud
Etrian Odyssey I to V
Tales of Abyss
Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance
Return to PopoloCrois: a Story of Seasons Fairytale
Xenoblade 3D (if your system can play it)
Just a list of some few. Out of most of these, I'd recommend Beyond the Labyrinth, Soul Hacker, DQVIII (with the orchestra patch), FE Echoes, Crimson Shroud, and the Etrian entries. The Three Yokai Watch games are solid too.
I have a 2ds sadly...
DQ
Good gameplay
I'm waiting for the remake because I want to use the spotpass features
Thanks for the recs, I already played some of them but I see a lot of new things to try
Try the Denpa Men trilogy on 3DS.
It's kinda like Pokemon where you gotta go and "catch" your teammates, but it's super cool cuz you use your 3DS camera to move around search for them, and the ones you get are based on your wi-fi connection.
It also you it encourages swapping your team in and out based on which dungeon your facing, so you're not just sticking with the same team the whole time.
The first game is solid, but it's mostly a proof of concept kinda thing.
The second game is where the series really finds its footing, and the third game is flat out the best in the series, it's pretty damn good.
Don't play the Switch one, it's a shitty mobile game they slapped on a console.
Ping Pong background
I want to use the spotpass features
Since when did the Switch 2 have spot pass? Also, it's a remaster.
The English patch for Dragon Quest Monsters 2 3D. Also I second
I forgot what the Fantasy Life logo was so you might have it but that game is kino
Also the new game coming out next month will probably be shit so you won't be missing out!
I mean, it will probably get an something similar
I remember playing the demo when I was younger lol, gonna try this too thanks
I played the first DQMJ on DS and didn't really liked it... I just can't seem to like DQ simple gameplay. Is this game better?
I didn't have it installed yet but planned to get it next, I love Level-5 games
smt soul hackers fuck everything else that might be posted in this thread
FF4DS or FF3DS if you can get DS games.
Also Bravely Default and Mario & Luigi games.
The Three Yokai Watch games
Seconding this.
I'd probably skip the first one since the second one basically starts out as a retread of the first before going into its own thing.
3rd game is legitmatey fantastic and there's a shit-ton to do.
I love Level-5 (hundred of hours into Inazuma Eleven games) and I already played Yo-kai Watch 1, maybe I will get YW2.
Now I have a lot of games to play, not sure if I will be able to play everything on 10 days.
I didn't have it installed yet but planned to get it next, I love Level-5 games
I never had the dlc myself (I probably should get around to playing it with dlc one of these days) but even the base game was plenty of fun. I hope you like it. I also had the first Yo-Kai Watch but from what I've seen of 2 is most likely correct. If you have time it's still pretty good though.
I mean, it will probably get an something similar
I'd hold my breath.
Ten days will be barely enough for one game.
My personal recommendation is Etrian Odyssey V, though. Or III if you're feeling like installing Twilight Menu. You also get access to the whole DS's library of funny weird games of which I can definitely recommend Contact and Knights in the Nightmare.
dragon quest
good
why does anyone like this series? Every single game is the most boring, bland, uninspired, predictable and safe jrpg imaginable. in fact i would go as far as to say fucking disney movies are more exciting than fucking dragon quest
I'm already playing EO1 HD on PC currently :)
It's comfort food for Japanese and Japanese-adjacent jarpiggers.
You might wanna think about installing the Untold versions of 1 and 2, at least. Play in classic. They're better than the HD ports.
Every single game is the most boring, bland, uninspired, predictable and safe jrpg imaginable.
I guess if you have ADHD and autism, DQ would be painfully boring.
in fact i would go as far as to say fucking disney movies are more exciting than fucking dragon quest
Woow, you're such a big boy.
Aren't they completly different games? My EO fan friend told me to play them later
If anything DQ is autistic comfort food.
Somewhat. The Untolds do recreate the mazes pretty faithfully, but they change balance in very important ways and have some extra mechanics.
They're more competent overall, though. EO never really was about that old school buggy blobber experience, you have The Dark Spire for that.
DQM J is pretty slow and basic compared to the games that came after it. I would recommend that you give it a try but if you just don't like DQ that could just not work.
I don't like DQ but I do like III and IX.
I will try the game then, maybe I will be in a different vibe
tell me anything even remotely interesting that happens in a single dragon quest game. just 1 thing
seeing family
bidogaem?
etrian odyssey I to V
tfw EO3 never got an enhanced remake for the 3DS, leaving a gaping hole in the center of the collection
Should have done that instead of releasing Nexus.
Dragon Quest 9 will be insane bang for your virtual buck.
EO3 still plays well enough that it doesn't need a remake at all.
Come on anon just ONE thing
Project X Zone 2
NOT 1, just 2.
Ze muzic.
the music is the least interesting part of an already boring series though. i literally had to replace the music when playing XI just to not kms from how awful it is
youtube.com
Culdcept Revolt
It's a deck builder, but on like a board game where you control territories like Monopoly.
There's a whole series, I'd never even heard of it until I hacked my 3DS a couple years ago. Criminal how good it is yet how little known it is. I played it once and still think about it sometimes. Wish they'd make another one.
Girls are pure sex too
Is that Nishimura's art? If so, good to know there's a 3DS game with her art that isn't dogshit, since Code of Princess disappointed me to no end.
seconding this, though I do prefer it emulated on a computer these days
The Untolds do recreate the mazes pretty faithfully
That's somewhat correct for 1 but completely wrong for 2. 2 and 2 Untold have nothing in common beyond the most surface level stuff.
Yep, she brought her A game too. Game looks amazing visually, down to the card art.
Persona Q
This. Play the first hour of 2 on DS, then on 3DS, and you'll notice right away that there's a huge difference.
2HoL: Get chucked into the maze with a high probability of game over'ing with no means of escape if you get unlucky and/or fuck up your mapping
2 Untold: "lmao play pac man and enjoy how easy the game is"
