I liked the first phase better than the 2nd, but the fifth dungeon was good too. The trial of the sword was the most fun I had in the game though, even when it opened with the hardest one for some reason and they progressively got easier. Almost like the base game’s progression curve…

the trials were literally the highlight of the whole game, giving you actual restrictions in a limited space where you have to actually manage your resources and plan your moves, instead of having a world so vast you can literally just take another route, more tedious but easier, to avoid enemies and hazards until you're strong enough to face whatever is in your way
the ballad was also one of the best collection of "dungeons/puzzles/challenges" in the entire game

DLC was the best combat content in the game outside of Eventide, I guess they're leaving it out because they haven't figured out how to implement it yet since Switch 2 is basically emulating the games instead of running them natively. If they do include it they better fix the bike you get not being able to be summoned anywhere, one of the best things about playing it on an emulator was the ability to just make it show up anywhere, made the reward actually gratifying.

I played and beat both game once each, the year each game came out. A second playthrough is not that crazy, I’ve been kinda itching to replay them after seeing the updates.

Yes. You just transfer migrate the date from your Switch to your new Switch 2. Everything you own goes with you.

BotW mogs TotK though. The building shit completely takes me out of the game. BotW is perfect because it's still a Zelda action-adventure game and you actually explore the map as it was intended to be explored, not on a flying hoverbike

yea there are very few enemies in botw sadly, i still love the game, and the simplicity is nice, but totk just feels superior imo
yea the hardest part for me was getting out of the depths, i eventually made a device that could just barely let me escape by floating through one of the big holes

you can simply not use the hoverbike and there is literally 3x more to explore in totk, also just build once and use autobuild after

this is why totk should have been a dlc like it was originally planned
even people who wanna replay cannot decide whether they wanna play botw or totk, and trust me, you're gonna hate both of these games if you play them together
botw's story and simplicity are great, it lacked enemy variety and good exploration
totk fixes this, but it also doubles down on unnecessary bloat like koroks, weapon durability (now you have decayed weapons that look ugly and have to be constantly fused), poes, depths (which is really stupid, since they originally had more sky islands planned but they opted to keep the depths and cut down sky islands)
totk's story is also a downgrade to botw
i haven't played totk myself, but i have seen how many improvements it brings to botw's world
sky islands are a great addition and they incorporate so many fun interractive elements that make it worth exploring
on the same hand, totk's depths look painfully boring and just the idea of having to finding armor pieces, upgrading armor pieces, and collecting korok seeds drown all my desire to play that game
now if it were a dlc, even if for $70, i would have bought it and continued playing on my botw save

There's no original Switch hardware on the Switch 2, unlike the Wii with Gamecube and 3DS with DS.

it's the weapon fusing that really ticks me off
most weapons in totk are decayed and need to be fused with materials, so you're gonna be going through the menus even more often than botw
it's like, they listened to all the criticism and decided to double down on all the bad gameplay decisions out of spite

Making goofy contraptions was pretty fun in the game, but I don't really have any desire to replay TOTK. I wish we had BOTW but with TOTK's caves, since the caves were really fun. I liked how the caves in Faron were all gimmicky.

I have the NSO Expansion pack and I bought the DLC years ago. I basically get it for free.

the sky islands are limited but there are some cool puzzles to them, the depths are meh but still have some cool areas and moments, you also completely ignored caves which is the best addition to the game

botw is a hard 7/10 and the dlc is dogshit

ohhhhh look you get to fight the same 4 reskinned boss fights again, making it eight boring fights for what is essentially one boss, for the grand prize of link finally getting his BODACIOUS motorcycle! and we took the liberty of putting the only good memory cutscenes in this dogshit stretch of the game as well! oh and MORE SHRINES (no new dungeons prease underustandu)
