Facing Nemesis Head on gives you weapon upgrades early on, running from him makes encounters more random outside scripted ones.

It's because of the environments. You're running around the city that is at the beginning of the outbreak which is a very underused setting. The prerendered backgrounds are comfy. It also has one of the best save room themes.
Playing this game not used to tank controls was hard as fuck because I had to constantly worry about nemesis since i was too shit to deal with him besides the mandatory part and it was only hard mode or very easy

When I played RE2 after REmake it felt kinda like a lame cinematic rethread whereas RE3 felt like an evolution of those games with surprising depth behind ammo management choices. I doubt it's popular though because Nemesis is annoying (as he should be) especially if you're a stubborn motherfucker and decide to take that first fight. It's pure ludokino.

I replay Parasite Eve 1, Dino Crisis 2 and the REmakes (2 and 4). If Capcom remade DC2 in OTS I would probably stop playing it. OTS is superior to tank controls.

despite loving 3 i for one couldn't wait to leave tank controls behind. 4 was a step in the right direction but then i got bored of 5 within an hour and dropped the franchise.
re3 is the most refined game is why. People who don't like survival horror or puzzle games might like re3 because you can action your way through it in a very precise way for its time.

I love how Capcom listened to the feedback from RE2 and made Nemesis not only challenging, but did so in such a way that would fuck over people that fight him the same way they'd try to tackle the absolute jokes that RE1 and RE2 bosses are
for me the eye opener was realizing that the regular "strong" weapons are bad against Nemmy. if you try to cheese him with the shotgun or magmun you get fucked over by the animations. if you go for the meme freeze rounds for the grenade launcher he won't stagger as much. while if you go for the regular handgun he won't aggro as much and have plenty of time to dodge his attacks, if you go for the handgun with enhanced ammo he'll stagger with every shot

the pistol was the bitch of the series, but with enhanced ammo or the eagle you can complete the game with it

Racoon City Streets, the branching paths giving you reasons to replay, more action focused.
Shame they skipped it in these modern remakes would be sweet having an expanded explorable city area in full 3D.
