By worldview, I mean the generic Anon Babble opinion that old is good and new is bad
It doesn't apply universally but basic pattern recognition should highlight this happens. A lot. In various contexts, for different reasons.
While there are issues with RA, it's not as bad as people make it out to be
Wrong, they're even WORSE than what it seems. People are far too lenient with RA just because the remake was worse. RA is Ratchet and Clank written for 5 year olds and 5 year olds specifically, nothing higher.
the old games are not as mythical as they make it out to be either. This is actually a phenomena know as 'Rosy Retrospection' where one's nostalgia and childhood memories skew past experiences much more positively than they should be
Let me come up with my own fancy named concept: the 'Faggot Deflection'. Nobody claimed the PS2 games were mythical and legendary and perfect. They were just great games that delivered a complete and cohesive package, universe, gameplay, writing, soundtrack. The newest games mostly deliver in gameplay and not much else.
Can you provide a single metric that it didn't do well given its constraints
I'm not talking about sales but discourse. Good luck coming up with metrics regarding that. It would theoretically be possible, but far too complex and expensive for the purposes of this discussion.
The leaks showed it has one of the highest year one to year two sales ratios compared to other Sony franchises. This indicates a good word of mouth from the early customers and that convinced more people to buy it later on
Or it could be caused by one of the other 1500 other factors at play. You didn't come up with any metric that proved your point, you came up with one metric and interpreted it the way you wanted to pretend you proved something. Meanwhile, I didn't, this observation about the lack of actual meaningful modern Ratchet discourse is just mine, no bullshit metric to make it look official.
