It's a great game. Incredibly combat based. Incredibly easy to make into easy mode (the first two levels are fucking terrifying to most people but you'll be fine).
All weapons are fully viable, not just 'kinda okay' but can easily do the entire game into endgame of ng+4

That said
Activate the auto buy shit on bazaar and set elixirs to autobuy.
Run past the first giant fucking thing, there's even a warning.
Do 10 in constitution, heart, courage then do 20 then do 20 in the other stats other than magic/ninjutsu while leveling

Also the most fucking important thing in the entire game. When you get hit, block. Just fucking block. The game is based more around blocking when you are hit than pressing dodge like a faggot

and remember, the best weapon in the game is learning to ki pulse. Ki pulse and learn flux. And the two skills in the shiftling tree on the right that reduces ki in the dark realm/yokai realm

A shit ton of fun. Use ki pulse, learn flux, get 200 toughness and block as much as you can.

Worse than Nioh 1 but way more bloat.

also you should typically dodge out after blocking the first hit in a string as well

kusarigama is one of the harder weapons to pick up, tonfa is very easy to pick up and use. I say make the most of it, playing Nioh 2 for the first time is a very solid experience through and through.

A cool very japanese ps2 era feeling game, with soulslike elements. Have fun making your troon in the start. This game has more trannyfus than eldenring

A great game.

Though be aware that if you are coming from the souls series. DO NOT think you are going to be making a build making like you would in souls. I would focus on getting each of your stats to around 30 points before deciding to invest the rest of your levels into mostly in one or two, this is because armor and guardian spirits can have stat requirements before their effects to actually do anything. Though you should ALWAYS put at least 30 points into magic and dexterity. Even if you don't plan on making a character that uses a lot of spells or ninja items. 30 points into magic and dex gets you the max capacity for the amount of spells and ninjutsu you can have activated and gives you access to nice buffs that you really should have. No reason not to make use of them.

Also don't focus on collecting gear sets and farming specific items until NG+ or further. On your first playthrough you should just constantly upgrade your gear with whatever you find. Higher Item level matters a hell of a lot more than having a full set in your first playthrough. Think of it like your playing Diablo or something.

Finally, if you enjoy multiplayer and want to summon people. Be aware that some fags like to get summoned only to immediately sprint through the level one shotting everything and leaving the host behind without letting them explore the level or actually play the game. Maybe that's fine with you but I fucking hate it and prefer letting the people who summon me set the pace and explore as they wish.

So I wanna get a set in midnight that has both the clear-mind and dragon set bonuses. Veiled Edge set always comes with clear-mind but is there anywhere particular I can farm it as red gear for the chance to drop with dragon?

No problem anon. Dex build is a good choice imo since ninjutsu can be pretty strong when built for in the end game. (When I say end game I mean like NG+++ by the way.)

You don't really miss out on not doing multiplayer through. It's mostly there just for fun. As for gear sets. Again, don't worry to much about it till you start doing NG+ stuff. However if you absolutely need to for some reason you could look out for a few. Earliest set you can find easily would probably be the Golden Boy set from one of the earliest missions. It boosts bow/lightning damage and gives a nice melee boost against enemies that have been electrified. There's also the Iga ninja set and Master of Illusion from later in the game if you really like ninjutsu and want to focus on that. But really, farming out sets is something that you should reserve for build making autism in the late game.

The most important advice is learn to Ki Pulse and try to use Flux (switching stances when you Ki Pulse to get more Ki).

I don't know, really. I platinum'd the first Nioh game and for some reason I can't get into Nioh 2. Maybe because Nioh 2 feels kind of random? The first game wasn't really story-based or anything, but I think it had the framework for a true journey. It's hard to explain. Like I'm just playing as this dude and some demon shit is going on in Japan and we're in the wrong place at the right time. Nioh 2 just feels kind of "gamey". I'm just not into it. I'm in the fifth area you unlock (just killed the owl boss) and I have 0 motivation to push forward.

Nigga you play as the future fucking Emperor of Japan and are involved in major events in Japanese history.

I just want to fookin grind for better gear. Overlevel AF while at it. Some brain dead fookin grind.
