Are you suggesting that terminally online social media denizens represent the majority of society? Look at the numbers. 100k upvotes is massive on Twitter. Imagine if your AAA game only sold 100k copies. And now subtract bots. And if you're talking about the opinions of customers for gaming for example, you also need to subtract the non-customers (either because they're broke or they're activists who don't actually care about the hobby beyond using it as a platform for their ideology). And then you've got the censorship problem, which further separates the conversations from what normal people might be thinking. So, conversations between a comparatively small number of terminally online people with heavy botting and censorship.
Western media is in collapse partially because they've treated Reddit and Twitter like reflective mirrors of the general public.

Are you saying that, for example, one Halo fan isn't seeing the same posts as the next Halo fan because the site is too big? It doesn't really work that way on either site. Especially if a post is blowing up.
If you're busy, you have to choose what you do with your time. Either you spend the weekend playing videogames or you spend it on Reddit. You can't do both. Most people aren't on Reddit regularly, including people with nerdy hobbies, and the conversations on there aren't a good sample of the general public for reasons that I've already given.
There are some pretty garbage judges in Australia. Cardinal Pell was convicted of child abuse despite there being no real evidence because the judge basically walked in already assuming he was guilty because he was a catholic priest. It was then overturned on appeal.

Halo fans are a niche of the population so a Halo post getting 100k would be possible. But most people aren't looking for just one thing on twitter, they've got varied interests and a feed full of them and finding any one particular Halo post and upvoting it when they are fans of Star Wars, FF, AC, COD, Halo, MK, they have news feeds and follow politics and other interests, that makes it harder to find any one specific post. Unless someone is autistic and all they do is look at Halo content
