2025: the fight still isn't finished

maxresdefault.jpg - 1280x720, 143.81K

poojeets were too stupid to figure out how to use the epic new poopspace engine so now future halos will be on ue5

We entered the worst possible timeline for a halo fan.

at this point it's your own fault if you're still sticking around waiting for 343 to save halo and calling yourself a halo fan.

It’s been 15 years since Halo was in its prime and you guys are still coping.

saving halo is very fucking simple

halo ce anniversary dos.0

updated graphics (better than the original "remaster")

blur cutscenes

moderately rewritten for le cool master chief moments

weapons & mechanics from future games (dual wielding, plasma pistol vehicle stun, etc.)

reworking the 2nd half of the campaign to get rid of all this backtracking

it just shows how incompetent 343 bitches and micrococks are if they cannot do this
instead they will make a soft reboot yet again, it's sickening

The writing was on the wall from Halo 4 that 343 had no idea what they were doing. Arguably you could say it was there from CE Remastered.

Let it go man. No franchise can survive forever and Halo has been crap like three times longer than it was good. Almost Simpsons tier.

halo 3: odst and reach are... le BAD!

No-one said that.
CE Anniversary, Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo Infinite are bad.

The Fight™ ended in 2007, with a look back at previous instances within that same fight (which ended, remember) in 2009 and 2010.
It's over.
Unless you're somehow trying to argue that anything after the original Bungie games is canon, in which case you're a fucking retard.

2007: Fight the Covenant
2025: Fight the Precursors

Different battle.

Halo has been crap like three times longer than it was good

halo is 24 years old this year
18 years is three times more than 6
18+6=24
2001+6=2007
halo 3 release = 2007
odst and reach released after 3, in 2009 and 2010 respectively

No-one said that.

you're wrong

Are you autistic? Don't answer that.

makes a mistake

doesn't apologize

But the fight was finished. The Bungie games are all still there. You can play them any time.
343 can shart out slop for the next century and nothing they make will be so bad as to undo the good Halo games

turning halo into a shitshow affects the old games too
how many people do you think checked out the older games after the diarrhea that was infinite?

all those years of people fellating 343 and calling anyone who disliked them bungie fanboys

where are they now?

they stopped coping after infinite

the fight still isn't finished

What do you mean, the fight finished with 3

there was a joke video on youtube before 3 came out (I think before it was even announced) that ended with "finish the fight... again".
if someone could direct me to that that'd be cool

Sure 3 still ends in a cliffhanger but it was a satisfying enough ending. Disregarding the Legendary teaser, John drifted alone in space until Cortana's dead and his life support system fails. His fight is finished. It's over. Not everything has to live forever especially when the one overseeing it is as incompetent as 343.

Now if they want to expand stuff, then just keep exploring Human-Covenant War. Halo 4, 5, and Inf all still had to rely on Covvie enemies. It's obvious that both the majority of the fanbase and developer just want to retread the same thing over and over; just do that. More Human-Covvie War spinoffs.
64vs64 PVP asymmetric TPS maybe. Space-focused RTS. SWAT style slow, tactical ODST shooter where we shoot at aliens and insurgents. ONI cover-up city building/defense simulator. LEGO clone but with Megablocks for the kiddies. Just license things out and see how it goes, like Lucasarts used to do with the Star Wars IP

According to some of the team leads in interviews there were rough plans for events beyond 3 but they would've required more than 2 games to tell without rushing, so we ended up with the cool spin-off experiments. If only 2 had gone as planned, but I'm sure we'll get those storyboards or whatever someday, just like we got the intended 2 story eventually.

he did finish the fight, it's just 343 needed to pull a new conflict out of their ass to milk this already complete series

some just trolls who will still troll discussions or have moved onto other IP
some who will accept any changes made once the devs give it the greenlight
some who actually will adapt or get lost if they can't so sadly like half are still around even if they're less active and waiting on a new game

Infinite could’ve actually saved halo if they didn’t realise it in a broken state with cut content again, and if they didn’t weren’t so scummy on the monetisation. If they want to save halo they should wait a decade, then try the live service formula again, but this time with a proper halo CE remake.

I dunno how for 2 games in a row they got it backwards

prioritize huge new modes no one asked for launch day

not just launching with what's proven and beloved saving untested elements for post-launch updates

It's the most sensible thing in the world to launch with what you know people want

Halo infinite had some cool trailers. As bad as it was I really enjoyed the Cortana/atriox interactions. It really felt like you were saying goodbye to Cortana. And then cliffhanger ending lol lmao.

WARTHOG JUMP

Halo will never be good until they make this the de facto canon again and trash anything made by 343.

fellating 343

Do 343 fans even exist? I remember everyone making fun of Halo 4’s “ancient evil has awakened” and the shitty plot in general. Then that whole cope of 343 being composed of former Bungie employees.

let them remake the old thing they cant fuck THAT up!

why do autists get attached to little things like this?
sure it was stupid they changed it and it shows 343 didnt understand the lore and should be changed back
but it's just a background detail

Some the ideas they had post halo 3 were good. They were just excuses poorly. We always for the sense that the forerunner AIs left behind were a bit schizo, so a shodan like enemy controlling forerunner robots was a good addition. I just don’t know why they needed cortana to be that villain. The prometheans also suffered because they were just visually ugly due to the 4/5 art style, and of the two games they featured in, they were really only fun to fight in 5.

I also think the banished are a good idea, and I wish they used them instead of the storm covenant from the get to. I really doubt that after the war and years of conquering planets as a group, every species of the covenant would just go home and pretend nothing happened. There’d still be heaps of mixed planets, some brutes would probably still feel cheated by elites, the rings are now know to be super weapons and unclaimed. A group of aliens who still want the covenant to remain strong would naturally arise and have a hatred for the arbiter and humanity, so there’s no reason for the covenant to be completely cut from the series.

Spartans IVs weren’t a bad idea, they were just made to be complete arseholes for no reason, and the retards decided to make way too many of them, completely missing what made the Spartans so cool.

I liked the idea of ONI wanting to assassinate the arbiter and create turnoil amongst the covenant races. given humanity is so weak, they’d probably want the covenant distracted and fighting amongst each other while they rebuilt.
This plot thread was just never really explored well in the games, just in some shitty extended media.

The flood not being completely dead is also fair. The entire reason for the rings existing is because the flood are so resistant.

Because it would've been more than just a background detail if they expanded on it, tardbro...

I also think the endless were done poorly, but the idea of there being alien races sealed away by the forerunners isn’t a bad one. They would’ve experiment with several failed solutions for the flood, and just like the Prometheans, they could’ve been another one.

Obviously the more sequels you make, the less charming the series becomes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad, and that you can’t take the series is interesting and fun directions. The point I’m trying to make is, they could’ve explored both prequels and sequels lost halo 3.

Not only that but there was never any reason they needed to limit themselves to just FPS games. They genuinely could’ve had a big franchise if they thought things through properly but they didn’t.

What do you mean?
The fight DID finish in 2007 and we got two games that wrapped up Halo after.
The corpse of Halo has been exhumed and paraded around since 2014 however.

If you’re referring to the new big team battle mode in Infinite, I believe it was actually well received as mode. Only warzone in 5 was criticised because of the ridiculous pay to win loot box mechanic.

Lore matters to a series, retard-kun.

it's finished, it ended with halo 3, anything after that is fanfiction

Halo was finished after 1

Cause it was cool, and it made sense. A bunch of other aliens having a hard on for humanity is lame and gay.

but if they end it they don't believe they can make more money off it

no, it was just getting started

I used to catch UberNick here and there and so didn't know how involved he was as a promoter, but somehow I happened to catch a stream where he admitted that now that Infinite was around the corner (by then it was clear it was reducing abilities massively) he actually wasn't so approving of stuff in 5. I somewhat get trying to keep people positive to up the odds of a new game taking steps in the right direction, but one can praise the positives while still being upfront about how both those and the negatives can change for the better.

Do 343 fans even exist?

Yes, they do. Twitter is full of those faggots, but just like every modern corporate cock sucker, they do everything but play the games they defend

343 (now Halo Studios) needs to be completely removed from the equation. License Halo out to other devs who might actually like the series and know why other people like it. Open up the door for spinoffs that aren't mobile shit or strategy games. Where's my large scale Battlefield ripoff? Huh? Microsoft you fucking morons

Good eye. I hate when companies bungle lore

I really hate how much people trash the gameplay of 5 and infinite. They really weren’t that bad. All the other stupid decisions 343 made were what tainted the games, and because of that people have a skewed notion that the new gameplay in both games was somehow poorly balance and completely unplayable.

Nah not that
4 wasted time on Spartan Ops and all the immense art style changes, 5 Warzone, Infinite open world/huge environment lacking campaign map
All these big first time experiments that no one asked for and they really couldn't say would be well received
Granted, 4 had a lesser Forge rather than no Forge, but especially after 5 they should've known to launch with Forge, Theater, Infection, Firefight, etc. all these beloved player retaining features, rather than saving them for after launch
Save the experimental stuff that are huge time sinks for after launch instead so at least if they aren't hits, the stuff that has proven to be a hit is already there

I want a tactical shooter playing as halo marines with finite resources in every mission.

How does 15/10=3? Halo has only been shit 1.5x longer than it was good.

might

This is the problematic point. You would need someone who can even assess that they do and keep them reasonably in-line, but according to the Creative Director of 4 even back then there were higher-ups trying to keep things from being too faithful. It's especially silly if it's going to be an FPS game where you can just put new ideas into their own modes on the side, rather than having to shove them in the spotlight.
So, even if you get guys like the Halo Wars crew who at least spoke of and attempted to capture the look and feel of Halo to a reasonable degree for a 3rd party RTS, these days they might just get ordered to change it up needlessly in order to trend-chase. Could management of Halo improve at any moment? Sure, but we really can't say which iteration of Halo leadership will avoid going "too traditional" until after a game is out and proven itself.

Fair. Power vacuum politics is fun, can't say I'm thrilled about all the Forerunner stuff though. Seems like they're there just to up the stake instead of actual worldbuilding. Flood is whatever, horror spin-off would be cool probably.
Also I think post Halo 3 should not be Chief's game anymore. He has no stake in that kind of fight but the diehard fans and devs that're taking over a strong legacy will never let go such an icon. New characters like Six and Rookie that works as player-insert can fill in the the gap just fine.

They should have made a prequel about killing innie scum instead
