I wasn't sure if the beginning of the game was hilarious or ultra fucking cringe.

So the story is about a young black woman who is being raise by a criminally negligent single black mother. Said mother sends her daughter out in the minutes before a hurricane is going to hit to walk around the neighborhood. Said woman decides to stop at a random neighbor's house to eat, rather than hurrying to get back for evacuation, and when her mom's negligence causes her to get caught up in the storm, chooses to try to personally go after her instead of trying to get ahold of emergency rescue personnel.

After failing to save her mom, the black woman decides to go to her only remaining relative, her estranged white grandmother. White grandmother accepts her in without question, but wants to keep her safe in the home, rather than allowing her granddaughter to foolishly charge back out into the still extremely dangerous hurricane devastation. Granddaughter decides to rob her grandmother and head back out into danger, while also proudly stating how she doesn't need her grandmother's help.

You'll talk to all your brothas and sistas throughout the world to do quests for them, normally making a tasty meal. Occasionally they're not listening and you smack em over the head with your skillet to get 'em to listen. Final boss is uncle ben, trying to take your name and face away from the food you make.

At this point my best guess is they are either incompetent or/and perceive their protagonist as an infallible person who can do no bad due to her skin color or upbringing. It doesn't matter if the main character lacks accountability or acts stupid. The latter is because the character is only as smart as its writer, though.

Yes. You say that like its some gotcha. If any game has a woman protagonist, I don't play it. How as a man, am I supposed to feel immersed when I'm playing as a woman? It's a complete disconnect. In this case sweetbaby employs a bunch of unemployable weirdos and tells them to make DEI and ESG changes to products as advisory, typically with very little oversight, and the execs have made deals with various companies to provide DEI and ESG services, basically strongarming them into it by claiming they'd be deplatformed or at risk of strikes if they don't. Nobody except some of the mooks in sweetbaby's lower tiers actually believe any of it but they go along with it anyway; hence the grift.
Think of it like a more elaborate version of lefties selling maga merch or righties selling AOC merch.

This game is $5 compared to South of Midnight's $40.
It has more replayablility, more innovation, and is entirely skill based. It does not have options to skip puzzles, combat, and other "features"
Everything in the game is there for a reason and they all make the game better.

Exploring the map with him is kinda shit, but I like his combat, it's satisfying to storm the castles from the entrance and steamroll everyone guarding it to get to the loot after killing the daisho samurai.
