Same, not 35 but I kinda feel like people usually shit on everything being nostalgia, then I get recommended by an old friend playing some modern games and I get hit with 30 different hoops and accounts I need to jump through, then with 2+ hours of pointless cutscenes at the start, then a cash shop with 5 different currencies, then a quest list. And I'm talking about a single player game, if I play a multiplayer game it is considerably worse.

I'm glad kids are loving all new releases and there hasn't been a video game crisis, of course, but I think what old games lack on technology they make up by being curated by time.

no I don't exclusively play old games but very few things over the years have turned my head at all

31, about the same. There's the odd one or two that feel like they snuck through for me, but otherwise I just replay old games or don't play games if I'm not feeling like it. There's a pretty big list of stuff I haven't played that I work through occasionally, but the zeitgeist has firmly moved past me and I no longer understand or care for the shit people absolutely lose their minds over today. Developers are becoming less adventurous with their decisions and more risk averse, and its dovetailing quite terribly with my increasing desensitization to pretty much every standard or convention the industry has developed for every genre. Most times these days I can tell within even just a 2hr session what the experience of the game is and what kind of longevity that has for me.
And the majority of the landscape is now catered to live service slop and for young men who were born too late to not see how cynical and self defeating a model it is or how fruitless spending years playing a game that will inevitably be shut down or changed irrevocably or deprecated feels.
So now I just play with my old toys and watch the gap grow larger and larger, and the newer generations come of age and be increasingly unable to detect how wrong everything has gone, even if they couldn't put words to what or how.
This is the burden of the millennialfag, it seems. He's got a foot in two worlds and while he can navigate the new one, he can never forget the old. The old generation tells him the he himself spoiled it all and the new one seems to gleefully revel in its complete dissolution.
