Is it wheely 1 in 4?

I am 1 dollar short of interest, I should sell

Nope!

fuck you

DO YOU THINK YOU'RE IN CHARGE HERE?

This is basically just throwing $3-4 directly into the trash. 25% my ass, it’s like 10

SPIN THAT WHEEL

But anon, think about the polychrome popcorn you could get

It's the only thing in the whole game that actually feels like gambling.

It's always "Nope", but I still can't resist

Nope!
Nope!
Nope!
Nope!

it procs

it's on the joker you were planning on selling eventually

it procs

negative Gros Michel

I genuinely hate Black Deck, I just have to get this last gold win and I can abandon it forever. Please, god.

It can't give you negative, retardbro

Nope!

I surrender my Masters in Clowning. Jimbo have mercy.

funny thing is "feeling" like a 10% chance means it probably actually is 25%
it's a noted human psychology thing that probabilities only "feel right" when they're higher than actually stated, like 35-40% when stated is 25%

Guarantees your victory

Thanks, man.

description tells you what it does

actually it’s a lie and it doesn’t do anything

Seems kind of fucked up to intentionally trick people with a fake item that does nothing 100% of the time

how do i know during a run when it would be best to commit to a high card setup? I've never done it before and I've only been setting up straights unless im on checkered deck or if i get one of those spectral cards that turns a whole hand into 1 suit or rank

I just bought this game on my phone and I have yet to beat any difficulty. Any hot tips and tricks?

You want your joker set up to end up roughly like this:
X/+Ch/+M/+M/xM

X can be +$ or a utility joker. If you level your hand type up enough you don't need a +Chips joker. Always put your +Mult before your xMult, order matters.

Just keep playing for a bit because you unlock better jokers over time from stuff you do and not simply by winning

You’ll get btfo by the second ante if you don’t have at least one halfway decent chips/mult joker. Prioritize picking that up before anything else. Build your jokers to maximize the power of 1-2 hands and then buy planet cards to improve those hands. Get tarots occasionally to improve your deck and btfo useless cards. If you see the voucher that gives you an extra hand buy it immediately.

jokers go off from left to right and you can move them around to change their order

Get a Multi+ joker to carry you through Ante 1-3.

Try to have a Multix joker by Ante 4's beginning.

Keep Multix jokers on the right, because Jokers activate from left to right when a hand is played.

Don't buy a voucher right away, wait until Big Blind for some extra interest.

Flush is the easiest hand, but scales poorly.

Utility jokers aren't necessary to win but can help your build a lot

Balatro FG.png - 1019x1568, 390.49K

as a shitter,I can say at the start raw chips are better than mult and it will help you transition into an actual build. As you learn the game you will rely on that less and less. Try to establish a steady source of money unless you're vagabonding it with the green deck which is how I got my first win somehow. As for actual hands, just spam flushes until you learn the game.

it procs

foil

Labatro on mobile is a trap, it's a TRAP
It's one of the few games that actually work and make sense on mobile and that makes it on million times more dangerous because of it

My first couple of wins I got almost exclusively through playing flushes.

Nope!

I forget, can you unlock jokers from the challenge deck? Can i get Satellite by using Rich Get Richer?

balatro is like if popcap hadn't died

Forget you have it and just skip a standard pack

I got the tarot joker to like +40 in my last run, took this SCAM every time it popped up
It never procced.

I will keep buying it

The strengths of a five card hand is that you get a lot of chips which gives you an inherent early game advantage over high card. If you get a burnt/space joker or stuntman you can build towards high card because 100+ chips is plenty and most of the mult comes from jokers

Meh. It’s too small on mobile. It’s the perfect iPad game.

tfw too stupid to make Obelisk work

bullied aqua.jpg - 1280x720, 102.25K

plasma deck is too complex for my smol brain
pls help i've been stuck for a week

You have to get the achievement in a real game not challenge, there are some combinations that should get you a lot of money and you can play into endless to farm a little more

stack chips early; eventually swap to multi-scaling when a good combo shows up

splitting chips and mult early will fuck your score. you really want to go ALL IN on one or the other. early game it's easy to get enough chips, late game it's easier to get shitloads of mult

get interest rolling
don't underestimate the value of skipping for some tags
flush is king when you start out, as it's easiest to get rolling & most obvious to build around

Just picked this game up yesterday and I'm having a ton of fun, but I keep getting BTFO by the extra large blind boss, trying to get it done can be a challenge, also damn this game is just as addicting as people said

Mult has the same value as chips, start by picking chip and money jokers as chip jokers reward more than mult jokers, transition to xmult as the run goes on as you need multiple multipliers to make an even bigger number

take negative/polychrome/foil tag

its on a complete waste of shit joker every time

You can reliably take down the first ante with just flushes and nothing else, but if you end up with a straight or full house on the way then use it to save a discard. Try to beat round 1 in 1 hand. Hands are money. Try to have a minimum of $25 to maximize interest. Flushes fall off late game typically, so try using hangman, death, strength, and others to have some cards more likely for full houses. Some jokers also duplicate or destroy cards. Try to duplicate cards with enhancements. Consider whether you have a weakness to a boss that disables certain suits or face cards when choosing which to modify. Cards like blueprint that mimic another card can have unexpected uses with some money generating jokers. Don't take blank card or seed money with less than $40 it will fuck you over. Once you've gotten every skip once for the collection, you should avoid the majority of them but $25 is $25. The glitched description of misprint tells you what card will come next from the deck, even just from viewing it in the collection, it's gimmicky but may be useful.

negative tag is almost never a waste, as it's a free joker that doesnt take up a joker slot. id only skip those if im running a joker that scales based on like, number of times a hand's been played

You can just do chips forever if you just want stage 8. You'll never get 100 mil that way though

I don't advise flushing because so many players get used to playing flushes and get frustrated when it is no longer as viable on higher difficulties

Wait what the fuck, the order of the operations matter? I've got to try this out.

I bought the steam sale Balatro/Slay the Spire combo back in December for $17, extremely happy with both games. Admittedly though after about 20 hours into Balatro I jumped ship over to StS and have been going full retard on it ever since. I do look forward to getting back to Balatro at some point 1000+ hours from now though when I'm done with StS.
Thank you for reading my blog.

wish there was a mult chip joker, even if its a fixed ×2 and [rare]

I have stopped taking those because its always some mediocre eternal rental

It's just annoying. Doing a two pair hand or something, skip a round to get a negative joker that gives + chips for a straight

I believe it's actually 12% foil, 8% holo, 5% poly

its not i kept track over 50 of them and only got 9

ill never take wheel with these temporary jokers again. it must be a rule to prioritize common jokers for the buff

if this is true it explains everything, the card fucking lies

plasma deck is the easiest to win with. do not look for mult, only look for chips. youll win ante 8 with all commons and unleveled high card. chips rack up higher and faster. xmult is useless because the split happens at the end

adds up to 25 percent

card says 1/4th

How the sweet fuck are you supposed to play High Card like twenty times to 'load' the Obelisk just to be able to actually start BUILDING Obelisk to begin with? You already spent half of your antes loading it before you fucking build it up whats the point

When i was new and playing Green Deck for the first time i actually got the Vagabond+Credit Card combo not realizing how rare it seems to line that up
I understood immediately the nice synergy between them
I think i still failed that run anyway..

You don't need the credit card. In fact I consider it a waste of a slot.

I take it every time

Some jokers are just so free to scale

s-l400.jpg - 400x400, 27.21K

Green deck doesn't generate interest so you can just use the card and sell it when you need the slot

CONTENT UPDATE WHERE

I like balatro a lot but the thing that kills the fun of the game for me at gold stake is endlessly fishing for xmult in shops. I've had so many runs that die in ante 6-8 after NEVER seeing a single xmult joker (and obviously not having enough other sources of scaling to not need them)
Ironically the rental stickers that are unlocked at gold stake are the best gameplay addition since they reduce initial cost and rentals can be added to your roster as long as you can support them. Eternal stickers are devastating by turning otherwise good early-midgame jokers into immovable bricks. Perishable stickers on scaling/lategame jokers is just so fucking horrible.

open tarot pack

roll none of the good cards

Death, Tower, Wheel of Fortune

thanks, might as well have literally shoved that $4 up my asshole cause at least then I'd shit out interest

noise smoke.gif - 93x96, 47.05K

Eternal stickers are a straight upgrade in many cases. There's a lot of stuff like the Hex spectral card and other such Spectrals that erase your other jokers that become completely immune with Eternal on them, allowing you to get full hands of Polychrome or other upgrades like negative. It is also broken as all shit in combination with Madness, as it scales forever without affecting your other Jokers due to the Eternal tag. There's other fun uses as well like "locking" a fed Dagger behind one so it just acts like a regular mult joker.

Obviously it can be rough if you get a shitty early game Eternal you're stuck with but if you shop smart from the start it unlocks infinite possibilities.

where are those 100 new jokers already

They're waiting for you, in the Cryptid mod

Eternal synergies are great and all but the vast majority of jokers in the game are early-midgame fodder, and I want to interact with them instead of seeing their sticker and basically being forced to skip and not even consider taking them.
To take advantage of hex and madness you not only have to acquire them, you have to have eternal on one or more jokers that you want to keep and ALSO not be attached to any of your other jokers to make it worth it. In the case of madness especially you have to find it early on enough for it to scale up without completely fucking your build. I almost never end up doing this, I think I've had one madness win out of hundreds of runs
Eternals locking you into joker slots permanently is also lame because making huge risky pivots into alternative scoring methods in the middle of the game is one of the hallmarks of Balatro. Eternals can make that unreasonably difficult depending on what you're stuck with
In my opinion jokers from packs shouldn't spawn with stickers on them but what do I know.

Obelisk is a meme, it's only there to bait you into playing badly.

I only do it if the other pack options are suit changers

this guy made me appreciate Rough Gem

But that's how losers think

Ghost deck is free, sixth sense was my last gold sticker

file.png - 1920x1080, 1.95M

I FUARKING LOVE BALATRO

only if there's fuckall else to buy and I desperately need one of the modifiers

Constellation is such a free win too. It scales hard and fast while also making your played hand stronger. You could say it makes you spend money on planets you otherwise wouldn't, but once you get the economy going or get clearance sale you don't feel it at all. Super strong synergy with Telescope too

I won my first run with Obelisk so he's OK in my book

I never take this, I don't see it as strong, but I am probably wrong. Are you supposed to play weaker hands for more tarot cards? Seems like a nightmare not to have interest or remaining hands money

Last 3 challenges are HARD
Golden Needle in particular tore me a new one. I ended up cheesing it with Ancient, Chad and Stencil I got early on, but I have no idea how many times I retried before I got it done.

NEEDLE.png - 1919x1079, 2.97M

Are you supposed to play weaker hands for more tarot cards?

As with all scaling jokers, you should be playing your max hands every turn. You trade the money from extra hands for whatever scaling you are doing. In Vagabond's case, it's one of the strongest scaling jokers because for a 1 dollar hand you gain access to a tarot card, which costs $3 in the shop and can be worth far more than that due to them being acquired en masse. Removing unwanted cards from your deck? Duplicating red seal cards? Feeding a lucky cat? You can do almost anything provided you play all your hands every round

I see
I used it in some runs, but obviously didn't maximize the usage so I thought it's not that good and ended up selling shortly after for the economy

I just did the Monolith challenge but it gave me that one Joker at the very start that gives you 25+ chips for every stone card you have in your deck so it was ez

I did monolith with stuntman + throwback joker and spammed as many high cards as possible at the beginning, skipped a bunch of rounds to get my xmult up, then switched to pairs around ante 5 or 6ish.

its not i kept track over 50 of them and only got 9

That's not how probability works.

brainstorm and blueprint pointing at dice. it is now a 4/4 chance.

I feel like my odds of getting a straight are better, but the fucking discards always try to pull my lower numbers first.
