How does an LCD screen mog an OLED screen this hard?
How does an LCD screen mog an OLED screen this hard?
OLED is a meme
DROP THE PRICE
Hdr, if done right is day and night
But Anon Babble told me OLED was essential?
Hdr as the other anon said and also LCD is capable of better colors typically you just don't get the true BLACKS
I always thought OLED screens looked kinda washed out and reflective, the blacks are undisputable much better but thats not all there is to an image
oled always has been a meme.
no blacks shown and hdr on vs off
yeah bro get an OLED all you have to do is constantly worry that you're going to get burn-in if you happen to fall asleep with your screen turned on
OLED sucks ass, I don't care how good it looks if there's the constant threat of burn-in. LCD all the way!
oled photographs poorly because it's flickershit
It doesn't. You're an idiot.
Switch 2 screen is LCD without local dimming, the HDR on it is trash. At least it has nice colour reproduction.
go cry that to sony.
Hey, it's the poorfag squad.
oled costs less than premium displays most of the time
it's midrange
Don't bring race in to this.
Ips was always the superior technology.
I assume by premium you mean micro LED
Usually the only benefit of micro LED is that you have no risk of burn-in
But there are no micro-LED handhelds so this is moot
no, but i am talking about high end large format displays, which aren't oled when they command premium prices, as oled is a midrange offering
photo shows two completely different levels, the OLED one is a poorly lit blue stage
OLED is set to lower brightness
literally every single fucking retard on Anon Babble falls for it unquestioningly
I hate this place.
OLED is lower brightness
fixed
switch 2 screen is brighter, oled panels have sometimes the brightness capped to reduce degradation
All of this thread is a samefag plus two Nintendo shills.
post the same exact scene and then it might be a good comparison. top colors are totally different.
Shut the fuck up
LCD suffers from a similar phenomenon called pixel or Image Permanence, nothing is perfect.
LCD image permanence is temporary. It is true however that the backlight fades with age even in LCDs.
A lot happened in display tech these last few years. There is basically "converging evolution" where you have different techs doing different things all still converging to the same endpoint as they all deal with the things they used to be weak at. I.e. OLED's biggest weakness besides burn in (technically burn out but whatever) but also ghosting during dark scenes. Both become better and better.
LCD's biggest problem used to be that black wasn't black enough. That too is being fixed and coming closer and closer to a true black/no backlights needed.
Same goes for regular LED screens, etc.
In a decade or so the exact technology powering a screen may no longer matter as all technologies converged to the same quality point.
oled is amazing bro! it has crazy advantages such as.... uhhhmmm.... b-black screens look better!
t. poor
OLED is good but I can buy a miniled panel for 1/3 of the price, and it will probably last more
doesnt the switch oled have really crappy oled panels?
I dont even like true blacks because I keep seeing my reflection in it
that ghosting
big oof, even nintendo is entering the meme frames
Seems like it has some good anti glare coating on the screen atleast
No, they are excellent panels, and the OP comparison is useless because it's two completely different scenes, the OLED one is a dark scene in blue shades only because of blue lighting on the level. Not saying that the Switch 2 screen is trash, but this "comparison" is a joke.
A good LCD beats a bad oled any day
People arguing in circles about display technology is just the most baffling form of trolling. Like yeah, you can't really directly demonstrate how much better/worse a certain kind of display over the Internet, because the other person will be looking at it through whatever display they have, and photos tend to suck at conveying display image quality anyway. But you know what you CAN do? Close the thread, go outside, visit an electronics shop, and look at the displays they have over at the TV/PC monitor aisle.
The OP photo is idiotic, the Switch OLED is good, it has 130% sRGB coverage.
S2 screen is brighter (HDR) and probably has a better anti-glare coating, half the reason the S1 looks bad in this pic is the glare
130% is less accurate than 100%.
do you really want burn ins on your 450 dollar console?
kek, kill yourself
The glare is because he has a glass screen protector on the OLED.
How is the OP photo a useful comparison then?
going over the percentage means it is OVERsaturated
this is the definition of color accuracy
Nobody else has made a comparison, baflingly.
Good thing there's a fucking option in the menu then to switch between clamping to 100% and allowing the full 130%
the lesser 130%*
are you done yet
Based
Wow can't believe it looks better under extremely bright conditions. I definitely play all my games at home with every light turned on at full blast.
Want to know something anon.
The Switch 2 in Japan is $100 cheaper.
They hate you that much.
We don't even know if the retard who took the photo had the OLED set to some lower manual brightness.
if you're done being the premier tech illiterate and don't require further corrections, yeah
Because the technology is just better
reading comprehension
Deckies aren't the sharpest
oled shills always have to cherry pick the 1% of time where most of the screen will be black
Oh? New Nintendo strategy? Try to convince people that LCD is better than OLED and then in 2 years when the switch 2 OLED version inevitably comes out, magically OLED is a million times better than LCD so you need to buy it kek.
tendies suddenly hate OLED
Gee, I wonder what will happen once Shitendo announces the Switch 2 OLED
I don't understand why people are legitimately saying that the screen on the switch 2 is good because of HDR.
Well, I partially understand. People don't know what the fuck HDR is to this day and age. It's been marketed poorly and introduced in displays that should not even support it at all.
Because a lot of HDR demos out there showcase an oversaturated picture at a high level of brightness, people think that HDR is just more brightness and more saturation. Absolutely insane. People buy a $200 IPS monitor that says it's HDR ready or whatever the fuck, they go into windows settings and just enable HDR. Oh it looks piss poor! It's a meme!" and then they just never ever want to hear about it.
The OLED monitor I'm using right now can be made to look absolutely like shit. But I enable HDR, I use a RenoDX mod on CP2077, turn off the lights and it's a cum blasting experience, and a lot of people are missing out.
LCDs have improved a ton since 2017
Not even comprehension. I was lazy and didn't even read the whole sentence before posting.
low $ screen use LCD
mid $$ screen use OLED
high $$$ screen use LCD
rich redditors say OLED look better than LCD
uh I wonder why
the same thing we did last time? get excited, sell our lcd trash to browns like you and purchase next product.
OLED is better but honestly just get a TV or Monitor if you want it so bad. LCDs look just fine for the average joe.
Putting the oled directly under a light probably helps
OLED degrades over time.
a low cost oled has worse color reproduction than a medium cost lcd
shocking
The OLED tv my switch is permanently docked to is more expensive. Project less
You fucking retard, the Switch 2 uses LCD as a cost saving measurem
wtf do you need oled on a mobile device?
low brightness, deep blacks, while sitting in the park
RAISE THE PRICE
OLED completely mogs LCD when you play in the dark. Also my eyes are thanking me everyday!
the problem is that hdr is implemented like shit in most things
That's why these fixes and mods exist
At this point it's not a good technology for lazy people, but I still consider it an upgrade.
How is it that I can see a difference between LCD and OLED on my LCD monitor?
It doesn't. You are just coping because one is new. In two years when Nintendo releases an overpriced OLED version you'll eagerly rebuy it.
overpriced
OLED
that's redundant
I hate how you cant get a medium sized oled monitor because it wouldnt be cost efficient for manufacturers
It's probably made to be biased.
I want them to raise the price even higher just to make you poorfags cry. Get a job.
Raise the price so Nintendo will underperform and be humbled
This motherfucker reminds me of people being mindblown on how mirrors work.
Just like with plastic/polymer, marketing rotted consumer brains and plastic = cheap, bad - even though there are hundreds of low and high quality plastics and has major advantages to most other materials.
Same with LCDs... not even including all the different variants/backlight solutions...
LED is LCD... LED refers to the backlight
important to remember
pcmustardrace
Image retention is temporary, and even then any competently manufactured LCD of the past 20 years doesn't have it at all.
manlytears holds a dslite
Why are you pretending you won't buy the OLED model as soon as it is announce, you guys are so fake.
because its an angle thing. oled bros play their games at 60 degree angles away from themselves. the image isn't actually worse on an lcd, its just worse from angles. youll never see this comparison top down, it doesn't look as dramatic and they have to justify the price somehow
