Most complex driving and physics model in the entire series

most complex driving and physics model in the entire series

accurate gear shifts, oversteer and understeer, rewards good handling massively

shitboxes drive like shitboxes, supercars like supercars

gamers hated it because they can't just hold down the gas

*hit two different brakes*
*take 100ft to stop at 30mph*

Dogshit Op retard

Shitters get angry and blame the game when they fail instead of adapting.

Hello, shitter.

Now, let's talk about the *rest* of the game.

it's not realistic (which isn't fun, but appeals to realismfags)
it's not arcady (which doesn't try to emulate realism, instead just tries to be fun)
it's just shit

you have never driven a car in your life
cars dont fucking float like boats on the water
every car understeers like motherfucker
all cars are slow as piss compared to other games

Angry brown people

What pisses me off about 5 is how they downgraded the ragdoll physics and made every weapon feel like a bb gun and explosions have literally no force or impact

V is a better game, no one cares for boats on tar lake driving physics

i don't have a license and i don't care if the car feels realistic
i like arcade game design
the ragdolls were cool though

Gaymers are shit

shit grey filter

had to pump contrast to make this game look normal

Children don't deserve good games.

But it's fun. They were proud of their physics system and wanted their cars to sway around and smash into shit. It's way more engaging than driving in most other games.

Only thing I didn't like was the offset camera

still has the best cop ai

4 at least tried to give Niko depth as a character. Meanwhile 5 had cardboard cut outs as main characters

something about gta 4 city was really dull. san andreas didnt have this problem.

5 is garbage

i am brown and i like the game and driving though

gamers hated it because they can't just hold down the gas

GTA IV was hated, at least in my social circle (and the digital places I frequented), because when it was released for the PC it ran like crap and Rockstar tried to get away with: “uh... we actually programmed this game for computers of the future”.
I'm sure some people complained about the gameplay, but a lot of people praised it too, I personally liked it and I remember discussing it with friends saying that it felt like the first Driver where the cars had exaggerated suspensions and were therefore super fun to drive.

Physics modeling has been ignored in modern games

And in console it was hated because it was a heavily downscaled experience after SA, nico being an edgy sandnigger with no charisma unlike CJ and Tony, no fun vehicles and the list goes on.

-ACK!

gtavdriving.webm - 512x320, 2.93M

two different brakes

Cars generally connect the handbrake to the same rear brakes that the pedal is connected to. In fact locking up the rear wheels is only going to increase your stopping distance

Yes, and it's tragic.

sandnigger

Serbia is in Europe though?

cars are overly slippery if framerate goes over the standard 30 fps

bikes become unusable

What a game

I never understood how people complained about shit cars driving like shit. Welcome to reality.

Doesn't matter how complex they are, the driving physics in GTA IV are totally divorced from reality.

Yeah you've driven a 90s car.

drive random car you ganked from some dude on the street

it's a shitbox and can barely stop

in this way it's accurate to real life. americans don't maintain their cars.

the body roll is way too exaggerated in IV, but considering it's not really a driving/racing game, it's pretty good.

If I wanted realistic driving physics i'd get in a real car. I dont want that in a game.

Overengineered garbage

This visibly worse and clearly outdated game is better than by far the most advanced game of the series

Why do gamers constantly regurgitate this retarded trope? Not just about GTA but Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and many other series.

If you said 70s car you might have had a point

supercars don't have american landbarge tier body roll in real life

I hate GTA but it would be great if they just made driving a simulator. Then all the annoying retards who complain about racing sims and having to brake around corners would just learn how to drive.

Why would a 90s car handle any differently than a modern one? Power steering has been totally ubiquitous since the 1980s

GTA 5 is a downgrade in every sense compared to GTA 4.

Morrowind is the best TES game though

I didn't hate IV, but I definitely disliked how much of a departure it was from the 3d series. I don't mean the grounded main story, that was good. but the side stuff in IV is laughable, worse than GTA III.

you weren't driving at 30mph disingenious retard

the only admirable part of this shit game

GTA4 was so groundbreaking when it first came out. Physics wise, graphics, etcs, man at every level this game absolutely was on another level. Blew my fucking mind back then

man, i wish Take-Two had bought codemasters instead of fucking EA, their expertise on GTA would have actually made the game appealing. For a game with infinite budget that is all about driving cars the driving in all the GTA games is abysmal.

it wasnt as common as you think it was a premium feature for a long time

i've lost count of how many hours i've spent just doing car chases with cops on IV
never done anything of the sort in V

It could be fun if the cars we're gutless to the point where it's just silly. I guess the figures the over the top body roll was already too much for players and if it was possible to spin out with the throttle normies would never be able to play it

*weren't gutless

Weight, suspension design and travel, size, tire tech, modern aids like TCS, which wheels are even driven, there are literally a hundred things that change how cars handle totally unrelated to power steering.

Codies makes great games but Rockstar didn't need them, they already had an internal team that was damn good at making racing games- Angel Studios, the devs of the Midnight Club and Smugglers Run games. Unfortunately they were sentenced to the Red Dead mines for eternity and all traces of their existence scrapped and even MCLA slightly-less-silly handling is too complex for the GTA target audience.

Normies couldn't handle GTA 4 driving so they had to dumb it down as much as possible. GTA 5 is successful because it appeals to the dumbest people imangible.

GTA 4 was unpopular because it launched in an era where the average age of a gamer was a retarded teenager. These days i feel like there would be way more acceptance for anything Rockstar tries to do that is a little more niche.

You're a retard
gta 5 driving physics are great, they just aren't realistic. Literally nothing wrong with that
If you want driving physics that appeal to the dumbest people imaginable just look at any gta clone with the exception of mafia.
Watch dogs, saints row, cyberpunk, they all fucking suck to drive in

There's bicycles in the beta

I hate they scrapped them for the biker gang DLC. There's also no player-controlled planes because of 9/11.

American cars still had terrible suspension in the 90s

have you ever driven a car?

What’s the best way to play this shit on pc nowadays

I never played the midnight club games but they always looked like super arcade burnout shit. GTA is big and complex enough that it deserves real racing game physics that allow both slow autistic roleplay and high speed action. I would actually be interested in watching GTA cop chases if driving was an impressive feat

mc1 is a tech demo, same for smugglers run 1
mc2 is pretty much burnout and nearly unplayable in later cars
mc3 is the same game but on drugs
smugglers run 2 is arcadey but offroad and has extremely enjoyable handling, lots of bouncy suspension travel and body roll without feeling like you're in soup like in gta4
mcla actually toned down the arcade handling and people hated it for that reason among others
in general they're all also absolutely hard as fuck and it isn't just AI cheating but wanting the player to be fast and precise with the 'imaginative' handling models, so the opposite of GTA 'everyone should be able to win after the first driving mission' style

You got 2 choices.
1. Use DXVK and Improved Classic modpack on Windows
2. Use Improved Classic modpack on Linux

Linux

Yikeeees

gta is big enough that the racing model should be competing with forza horizon on road and dirt 2/3 offroad. If they really want arcadey open world driving physics I remember just cause having way better physics than gta.

Same. Holy. Fucking. Shit. Why can't games allow you to set centered camera? Camera in Black Flag while sailing the ship used to get on my nerves.

ft

mph

why are americans all footfags and pyrofags

whats the problem?

I just want to fly a helicopter mane

Idiot.

Which is bizarre, considering the ragdoll physics in 4 where cutting edge and part of what it made it such a success

I always suspected that they must've downgraded the character physics in 5 because of either last-gen console performance or some kind of self-censorship since you can shoot civilians.

I think it was because of car physics or something because Red Dead 1 had amazing physics that don't exist in 2
