Thoughts on the gamecube Pokemon games?
Colosseum is pretty good, especially for a not-Gamefreak game, but I prefer XD
XD
kys
I hate Pyrite Town and the Cipher Lab. Noisy fucking shits.
Never played Gale of Darkness, but Colosseum was really fun what I played of it. I wish I owned them, I only ever rented Colosseum back in the day
Better animations than Pokemon.
*mainline
Fuck off retard
I prefer Pokémon ;3
Colosseum is objectively pretty bad compared to its peers as a JRPG of the era and its peers as a Pokemon game. I say this as someone who played it at the time and loved it and still love it. Repetitive locations with minimal variety, simplistic story compared to JRPGs of the time, very few playable units compared to other games in the series.
It's heavily overrated by people who view it with rose tinted glasses because new Pokemon bad and the battles kind of looked cool (although Battle Revolution had cooler looking battles anyway while being an even worse game for its own reasons).
That said it's still fun to me.
I kinda like how there is only a very small pool of Pokemon you can get and how the game is more like a traditional JRPG. I wish they would make a 3rd game and keep the same idea of having a small pool of random Pokemon. Also having your starters be Umbreon and Espeon was cool in Colosseum.
Colosseum is pretty bad, the only thing I enjoyed was the atmosphere of the game, never played XD
I liked them a lot and believe if they revisited the concept, they can get a very good traditional jrpg going now that it's been analyzed to death with pokemon as the backbone but alas.
oh hey, that pokemon game is going to be on switch 2. is it worth a playthrough?
What's your experience with Pokemon?
If you're used to the main series it's a cool novelty as it uses a different format and presentation to what the series did otherwise at the time. There's several unique mechanics to the two Gamecube games that weren't part of the other RPG style Pokemon games.
BMX XXX on the right there
lmao motherfucker almost got me
Also really hope they find a way to do transfer from Colo and GoD like they did RBY/GSC on 3DS but I doubt it.
BMX XXX
lmao, amazing edit
Colosseum is ass and the only people who say otherwise just watched the intro cutscene. Shiny Shadow Pokemon are cool if you're willing to learn RNG manipulation.
Gale of Darkness is good, probably the second best Gen III game after Emerald.
mediocre and outdated by the time Emerald and Firered and Leafgreen released.
you little shit
I enjoy both, but Gale of Darkness will be infinitely better even if I like Ho-Oh more than Lugia.
Really liked colosseum. I wish the company had a chance of making a mainline game.
ENTER
It is just hard to replicate the experience of playing colosseum simultaniously while playing ruby/saphire and swapping pokemon and breeding them. I wonder if the switch version will imolement some kind of transfer system with current gen.
Colosseum is carried hard by its setting and tone.
They're stil better than most """"modern"""" pokemon games.
Can someone explain why you would ever buy this when you can just emulate? Like if you were going to spend money you'd atleast want the physical box but you don't get that here. What's the point.
get Pokemon Colosseum
little brother wants to play too
only one save file so he can't play from the start
father asks me why I don't let him "play the game"
"dad, he can but he can only play my progress"
"you need a memory card so he can play his own save"
dad looks confused, goes to talk to my brother
next day my brother and my dad come with a SECOND copy of Pokemon Colosseum
problem persists because we only have one memory card
Good times.
The delusional might believe GameFreak would approve another game, or maybe officially acknowledge Orre if they let you transfer to/from it instead of calling it "A Distant Land" in the games or whatever. Some people are interested for the ease of access even though GC emulation is fine (some of these people may also be religiously opposed to pirating). Me? I'm only interested in seeing if Tawada will upload another rendition of a song now
someone should have added slowpoke to the game.
Can someone explain why you would ever buy this when you can just emulate?
I like playing on handhelds and portably
b-but check out this chines-
It runs on Android which is fucking ass for gaming on so many levels.
emufags just can't keep it in their pants
The NSO classic games literally are emulation. They're just a bonus to the online services. If someone is paying for NSO just for them, they're retarded.
There are 0 non-retards paying twice for their own Internet.
Mogged Game Freak so hard they prevented them from ever making Pokemon games again.
I remember enjoying the music a lot in Colosseum but Gale of Darkness was easily the better game. They definitely do nothing to improve the genre of jRPG as a whole but they're pretty solid for Pokemon games. Worth a playthrough IMO, there's a hint of difficulty here and there. I don't really know why but I associate Colosseum with Skies of Arcadia... I think I must've played them the same year or something.
I wonder if the switch version will imolement some kind of transfer system with current gen.
They did not do anything of the sort with the Stadium games on the very same online service, so no reason to think that'll change now. The only way to experience completing the 3rd gen Pokedex is playing the og software on og hardware (and you need quite a lot of both, to be honest!), and even then you're not exactly traveling back in time to 2003-2007.
I enjoyed them a lot as a kid
I thought it was awesome how you could catch pokemon and trade them to the GBA games
I enjoyed the level design, opponents and music a lot
XD was clearly the better game but Colosseum had more soul
Really good
Agate Village is such a bizarre location.
It's on top of a mountain, ABOVE THE CLOUDS
It's a retirement home, mainly old people live here (how do they cope with the low oxygen?)
It's built around the dead husk of a great tree
There's a cave that leads to a hidden shrine to Celebi, a mysterious geometric relic
Which is smack-dab in the middle of a fucking forest (???)
It's classic no-logic video game location kino, simple as. It even has catchy music.
I would not describe Agate Village's theme as "catchy". More like "itchy".
Every battle being doubles is genius
However despite looking nice the long animations turn battles into a slog
great animation and graphics. Collosseum's protagonist was a badass edgelord, XD's was soulless
ALL THAT BEING SAID
being nothing but battles is boring as shit
kek, boomers
Love the music and animations along with the setting and some character designs. They really should've brought the dude who made the music in these games on board the main series because damn that is some good shit.
I appreciate Colosseum. I like that the battles are less weighted in the player's favor than they are in the main series. It makes me feel like the game respects me more. However, I tried to play it twice, and it started making me nauseous both times. There's something about the visual presentation that doesn't agree with me at all.
I have never tried XD, but maybe I should.
Best way to play is on dolphin with 2x speed.
