Battlefront 2 Is Now 'Completely Unplayable' on PC Thanks to Hackers

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 PC players are flooding Reddit, the official EA forums, and now also IGN's tipline with complaints that the game's various online modes, especially Galactic Assault, have been rendered "completely unplayable" due to hackers.

According to post after post after post on Reddit and the EA official forums, the ongoing issue is being caused by a hack that prevents PC players in online 40-player modes (especially Galactic Assault, but more recently also Supremacy) from spawning in, rendering matches entirely unplayable.

Complaints about hackers in Battlefront 2 are nothing new, of course, with posts about the specific hack in question going back months, even years.

Many of the posts attribute the hacks to someone going by "Blix", who would frequently post in hacked matches taunting players and promising to "torment" Battlefront 2 players.

Some posts suggest that this may be due to an updated version of the hack - before, it seems to have required a hacker actively be online to join the game and ruin the lobby from within.

Now, however, fans are claiming the hackers have effectively made the hack automatically load in every single match or lobby, at all hours of the day, meaning there simply no way to play either game mode.

What's worse, some players are reporting that the hacker(s) are posting cruel, bigoted, or inappropriate messages in the chat of affected lobbies, and are even impersonating an EA admin account.

The EA forums are currently overflowing with players complaining about the situation going back over the last week, but thus far there's been no response from EA.

And this is why I stick to coop with my friend.

This. Cheating ruined multiplayer games. I haven't played one in years because of it..

What the fuck.

Anon Babble, wanna come over to my house and play Complete Saga on my Wii?

only if we can jerk each other after

Ok : EA runs their battlefield games in mumtiplayer right? Dont they have an anti cheat that works i nthese games?

Isnt that anticheat the same exact one they use in BF II ? What is going on here?

The problem with in-game anticheats is they're the first hurdle to jump over if you want to do any kind of hacking in a game. It's like windows defender.

Honestly this has to be a concentrated effort. Hackers don't do this huge publicity thing unless they are having some autistic turf war with another group. Only a matter of time before DDOS and doxing happens

time to come play Squad: Galactic Contention instead

BF2 had so much potential. The celebration update lead it to having it's most active playerbase, game was in a good condition and the new updates were good. They then just abandoned it.

I'll never forgive them for shitcanning BF3 when it was 90% done.

Yeah, it still blows my mind. They finally had something great going after all the initial backlash—they fixed the progression system, delivered quality content, and players actually started loving the game again. Then they just pulled the plug while it was peaking. Classic EA move: build trust, then abandon ship the moment the charts dip slightly.

Reminder that the anticheat in apex legends was used as an attack vector in an international tournament, and, in fact, Anticheat is a huge meme non-solution to the death of real gaming communities

Describe your experience with it. I've been wanting to play for a while but I keep putting it off. Is it also mic heavy like normal squad?

EA is hands down the worst company in the entire vidya industry. Ubisoft gets memed on and Activision is a piece of shit, but EA is incompetence, malice, and greed all rolled into one.

so this guy is essentially making the game unplayable

WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT HE'S A BIGOT

kek

Just play on custom servers

After Titanfall, they let Battlefront 2 rot. Truly an amazing company.

PC gamers deserve less to be honest.

i honestly didn't know this game was still running lol

Why does EA games attract these autist hackers and how do they hack them so easily? First there was that guy who hated titanfall 2 and took the game down with hacks because he wanted to repopulate titanfall 1, now this.

once they got past the lootboxes bf2 2017 was a pretty fun game. when it lost it open battlefield like combat it gained in cinematic style gameplay in the rush mode or w/e its called in battlefront. shame to see it happen but it was already getting hackers last time i played a year or 2 ago. always 1 or 2 people per team had 20x the score of anyone else

It's probably because EA lets their games rot, and security is the most obvious thing for the maggots to chew on.

BF2 lets me fly my shipfu, so it's based.

they completely abandon their old games and usually have obtuse reporting systems that nobody bothers to use and don't have anyone reading them anyway.

has to be a concentrated effort

I mean hackers have been making nuBattlefront 2 unplayable for over 3 years, this isn't anything new nor is it some turf war thing. there's just a few dedicated shitheads and they figured out a way to make their hacks stick even after they leave the match.
you can play it right now, anon.

I fucking hate normal Squad, but I've got about 20 hours in Galactic Contention so far and am really liking it. it's not as casual as Battlefront, it's vastly slower paced, and you likely aren't going to rack up a ton of kills in a match, but when you do get them it feels very satisfying.
it's a bit more casual than regular Squad (you can take a few more hits, for example) and that makes it a bit more enjoyable, you aren't getting domed from 20 miles away.
it's also far more immersive than Battlefront or really any other SW game (so far), the first time you get in a LAAT and taken into battle, or the first time you hear a Venator firing down all around you, you'll be hooked.
I don't like using my mic unless necessary and so far I've never once joined a squad where anyone was upset if I didn't use my mic for the whole match.

i mean they SELL the game which people BUY with their MONEY and they can't even PLAY IT

OBVIOUSLY that's not legal. they HAVE to fix their shit

Something something frog and the scorpion

oh also I'll warn you, at about 12am pacific every night the servers pretty quickly go from 70-100 players to nearly no one. but throughout the rest of the day there's usually one completely full server and another that's nearly full.

How is a multi-billion-dollar company not bothering to fix a huge gaping security hole the size of a hallway in one of their biggest games?

it was kinda shit anyway

I've never heard of another online game where the entire infrastructre can go down thanks to a hacker. How do you even program your game to be that vulnerable?

Lol, this is why i pay for PSN, get fucked poor PC fags.

Technically most internet infrastructure is built in with the expectation that people won't be fags

Very interesting how they leave out some important details

hacker called Krispy starts selling BF2 hacks through his youtube videos

gets popular

stops actively showing the hacks, but still uses them

takes down all his hack ad videos

constantly puts out gameplay videos to draw people back into the game

farms all the suckers for more content

rinse and repeat

Honestly glad the game is dead now, at least just the online part. Fuck that fag.

he thinks he's safe

How do you even program your game to be that vulnerable?

by not giving a shit and outsourcing. hell just look at the absolute state of cloud computing where if somebody at crowdstrike or cloudflare hits the wrong switch entire corporations are brought to their knees.

This. BF2 trying to be le modern shootam with everything tied to online modes and online progression (and initially, online microtransactions) was the game's fundamental mistake. Thankfully nowadays you can play instant action offline with bots, just like the good ol PS2 days.

same thing happened to a couple CoD iterations, didn't it? something about just playing on a server gave full access to hackers to take over your pc?

hacker(s) are posting cruel, bigoted, or inappropriate messages in the chat of affected lobbies,

oh no. anyway

auto loads

sounds like bullshit. unless they hacked the into cloud server machines itself, in which case EA has much bigger problems than people whining about a single game

Everyone admitted we were right when PSN was down for 16 hours straight

the real reason why u dont want to play against cheaters is bc ur transphobic

idk why but I can't get this shit to work anymore. Game crashes constantly
