Blue Prince

Figured I'd put a new thread up just for the sake of it. The puzzles are occasionally fun, the roguelite slop gameplay is awful and quickly gets in the way of puzzles by turning runs into tedious resource farming RNG fests where you just hope you get the right room layouts, and rarely do.

Might be playable if you just max out your resources with Cheat Engine.

bp.png - 589x315, 488.03K

this looked like the most dogshit gameplay concept of all time

It sucks because beneath the repetitiveness I can see a really really good game but the content padding is just insane behaviour on the devs part. Why would he destroy his own game this way

I don't know if there's a good game underneath it all. What the game really needs are more ways to mitigate RNG, dice aren't anywhere near common enough to be useful, and having to search every room for keys and gems every single time you play is tedious.

Items should've been permanent upgrades but more difficult to obtain.

this, each behind some puzzle too, the fact that you have to find the RIGHT item AND room in order to progress every time sucks

It should straight up have zero rng. The dev just woke one day and decided to combine two genres that clash against each other constantly. I see people on steam with a playtimes of 100-150h and I seriously doubt the game has more than 5 hours or actual real content, never seen this much time wasting in any game

There are permanent upgrades though.

Did you know you can trade items for dice?

Wouldn't the game be like an hour long without the rougelite aspect.
Better to consider it a rougelite puzzle rather than a puzzle with rougelite elements.

good game, I am enjoying, on day 6 now and been underground tomb but just when I get going they steal my fucking feet

I start with permanent 70 feet but they always get fucking stolen, stop stealing my fucking feet

It wouldn't even be the same game without the roguelite aspect. Half the game is about having a room at a certain spot that unlocks a different thing that unlocks another different thing except there's overlap for many of those. The classroom puzzle is impossible to do without the roguelite aspect because it takes up a ton of space.

The problem is that the stars have to align to make progress. Even if you do everything right you can just not have the resources to continue.

I'm not enjoying it at all. It feels bloated in the most terrible way possible. You got all these clues but they are handed to you with no sensible order and so you have to manage both basic ass boring puzzles and then rng shit until you vaguely piece the clues together (that is very influenced by the rng). Losing steps even to backtrack, how fucking dull. It feels so fucking artificial in the way its spreading its runtime and on top of that to depend so much in rng.
I cant understand how its getting so much praise, it looks like its an ok puzzle game that then gets all the gambling addicts attention. These are the people that will include in reviews of other games how the game should include a battlepass to keep their attention, as if the game being fun simply cant be enough. In here its like puzzles arent enough, the game needs a layer of gambling and luck based shit.
The Witness has a sense of order even with how much of it is up to the player to discover or even not discover at all, thats good game design. This one being so dependent on "well, you will figure it out eventually many hours later all this random unconnected shit we are feeding you because LETS GO GAMBLING"

That’s just how roguelite games are, so it’s nothing too out of the ordinary. At least the game rewards you with abilities to make it easier as you progress. Returnal had some puzzles and was an action roguelite game. There’s a lot of secrets and runs in roguelite games like Binding of Isaac and Spelunky that qualify as puzzles. This game is just more puzzle, but it holds the roguelite part about the same as any other in its genre.

Typical eng bandaid, i know a game like this isnt supposed to be beaten in a first try but its outright requiring farming, in a puzzle game, fucking hell.
Like people said, its turning a 5h game into a 20h game

In action roguelites or card based ones the core of the game are that the situations are fun, the combat is fun or the management is fun, and the rng brings variation and demands the player to adapt. In here the management is not fun and there is no action, the game to me seems to dependent on the feel good of winning of the luck.

Jason Shearer licks goats.

The gameplay when you have bad rng is completely unrewarding. It's a goddam slot machine.

What's the second permanent upgrade? I managed to skip it, do you get it for getting to the antechamber or something?

Doing the boiler/experiment room shit was completely not worth it, wow, I unlocked the ability to use an offline terminal once a day!

It's for solving one of the optional puzzles in the manor.

So what's the point in solving the mirror room?
Managed to get to the center button and got nothing?

Thought maybe I had to lower the side walls back down so I can get into every corner, but now the center button is broken

Looks kinda neat but 30 bucks is alot for this genre roguelite puzzle

love a puzzle game

love a game with a mystery

love exploring a big mansion

hate roguelite RNG trash

hate games that waste my time with deliberate padding

Didn’t even know about this game until yesterday and it showed up out of nowhere just to break my heart. Maybe it’ll get some kind of overhaul to make it less about randomly bumbling into solutions, but it seems to be built from the ground up to waste your time with bullshit. For now it’s refunded

Yeah, I looked it up. One of the nice things about the game being journobait is that they're all really eager to post their walkthroughs of every single bit of the game online. I guess I managed to miss the emails on my first trip through the study.

After unlocking the 4 flame elevator, I think I'm done. The chess puzzle is absolutely retarded, and I really don't want to run around collecting these stupid red envelopes to unlock more awful story and more tedious puzzles.

I wonder if the upgrades are rng as well.

a literal guide on mitigating RNG inside the game

yeah maybe don't make it RNG in the first place

file.png - 1920x1080, 2.29M

It costs 4 stamina just to go to the outside room and back to the entrance

6 if you enter the outside room first

What is this shit man, why is there even a stamina system? Who the fuck gets tired from a leisurely stroll through a mansion?

It's to stop you backtracking to minmax, but it's legitimately retarded and adds nothing to the game. The game should've had a stamina cost associated with some room types instead, like you start with 10 stamina, get 5 from eating, and some rooms cost 1-3 stamina to build.

It's crazy how the game expects you to run around all the permanent upgrades on each run, losing 10 stamina before you start the day.

get to antechamber

get the basement key

dont manage to roll foundation at all

dont manage to roll coat check

have to try several days before I just rng into getting everything to line up

Am I missing something? I feel like I've unlocked everything I can up to this point. Do I really just gotta pray for RNG? I'm completing every puzzle in every room I know of. Even some of the safes.

By the time you get to antechamber you should probably have foundation, it's not that rare. There's also draining the fountain for another basement door, that's pretty easy if you mess around with the levers a bit.

So my takeaway from everything I’ve read about this game is that it’s a good idea that would have been a great 6-7 hour long puzzle game but instead it’s a 40+ hour long game because even if you figure out the puzzles you can just get randomly fucked over by any number of things and have to restart over and over again.

I might give it a shot if it goes on sale for a couple bucks a few months from now. No way I’m paying full price for a roguelite walking simulator

guide on mitigating rng is hidden behind rng

I have not seen the library once in 10 hours.

i'm screenshotting and writing down so much shit it's ridiculous
there should absolutely be some sort of an in game journal at least for obvious things

It's going to be really funny when you realize that there's no point in screenshotting anything but the most obvious clues.
There is no amazing game-spanning puzzle. There is no mindblowing twist. All the game has to offer are some puzzles that can only be solved through praying that rng allows you to progress.

That’s just how roguelite games are

Roguelites usually have a satisfying core gameplay that's fun even when you get shit rng.
The gameplay here is the rng

Oh, don't worry. You have to find it twice to get the book actually. First time you select a book you want to read, and then the next time you get the book.

And at least 40 seconds of you life.

Thanks game. I'm sure I'll find a shovel this run and get whatever slop is hidden here.
I obviously didn't find a fucking shovel

file.png - 1408x792, 1.93M

finally reach the antechamber

only 10 steps left, can't leave the house

loose basement key on next run

well then, uninstalled

man i fucking LOVE running to the outer room every single day, give me that value per dollar yes yesssssss

I read up how to get to room 46 and it seems immensely anti-climatic. I assume you have to do half the other stupid bullshit to work out how to progress in the underground part of the house correctly to find the lever?

Or maybe it's all optional, working out how the sigils work, giving each angel a name, figuring out who wrote each letter and constructing a timeline to work out who took the 8th one. I don't care enough to finish it.

The two I found only gave me some gold and a couple of gems.

Oh, great clue!
Now you have to

hope the game allows you to path towards there

hope the game gives you the option for a green room on that specific location

hope the game spawns at least one dirt pile

hope the game spawns a shovel

What great game design!

just evoke the shovel through meditation anon, ngmi

Watched Northernlion play this yesterday and while the puzzle aspect looks fun locking each puzzle behind randomly generated tiles seems stupid
Is getting into the antechamber and unlocking the basement where the game ends?

You might as well buy an add since you're already paying every journo shill under the sun

You can dig in any room with a treasure chart. All you need is a shovel and the map, so 2 bits of RNG.

It'd be fucking nice if the cloak room would let you store multiple items but you could only pick one per day to take out. So if you need a shovel, you can get one.

he didnt check in his key

lol
lmao

The treasure map doesn't need a dirt pile or a green room.
It just spaws an interactible digging spot in the room the X is located.
The shovel part is RNG, yet again, but you should always pick the 2 items on the west path anyway.

I was going to come in here and complain about exactly that. What the fuck were they thinking with this room layout shit? It's so restrictive and the further you get the more specific your needs become, eventually it's just RNG on RNG on RNG and I'm seriously getting sick of it at day 20. It took like 10 days for the fucking pump station room to appear again, and then I realised I needed the fucking steam engine room as well, in the right fucking place, to power the fucking extra reserve tank to drain to fountain AND the reservoir at the same time, and then I have to test where the fucking reservoir even needs to be drained TO and holy shit I just don't know if I give a fuck anymore.

it just spawns

And people had the gal to compare this to Outer Wilds. The fucking nerve.

all rooms were dead ends and the check in never spawned.

Why would you need to drain both? I assume you can only drain one of the big boys at a time, and you can drain the fountain without the boiler.

Check online reviews

Everyone praises it like it's the second coming of Christ

I think I've lost touch with reality. Sure, the idea is somewhat novel, but the execution is terrible. What the fuck did I miss when I wasn't looking?

All of those "reviews" are paid advertisement by retards who played the journo difficulty pre-release where you have infinite of every item.

The fountain is the only way I currently have underground, and the boat down there is too high up when the reservoir is full. No idea what level it's supposed to be at to be accessible though, so I just have to grind out getting the exact right RNG setup to be allowed to even try, then hope for the best.
OR I could just drop the game which I'm increasingly tempted to do.

From what I've seen the game looks like it would be actively better if the roguelite elements were removed and you got to explore all of the house like a giant escape room with progression being gated by solving the puzzles rather than RNG

In case you missed gamergate, it's what said.
The entire gaming journalism industry is one giant nepotistic conglomerate.
Considering the amount of twitch streamers getting paid to stream it, there is an entity with a big interest in seeing the game become popular.
Also the creator is transgender. So you can imagine who or what that entity is.

Too much of the game is built around the roguelite stuff. What they should've done is balance the game properly. Earlier I was cheating a run to get boiler room into experiment lined up. It took me 8 rerolls to get the experiment room.

yeah, but that would be hard from the jew devs to design.

I do wonder why it's this game that got the "second coming of christ" treatment.
Even with the creator being what they are, it seems really disproportionate.

What they should've done is balance the game properly

this, i'm sure the dev will release some patches to make things better, can't have his 8-year-in-dev baby getting shit on this much
i've dropped it on day 15, will check back in a year or two
have fun anons

creator is a tranny

Yikes. Even more happy I refunded

That's why I chose the nook upgrade that gives it to you which I also imagine is complete RNG to get.

stop lying you pathetic fucks

file.png - 511x478, 400.35K

You found a nook upgrade? All I got was a bedroom upgrade and a spare room upgrade.

Yeah, library nook is the obvious pick. Shame they have dogshit synergy because they're both L blocks! So half the time you can't even take advantage of the library rarity buff.

Why are there fresh bananas on the table, who put them there?

choose corridor spare room upgrade under the assumption it'll gain corridors' always-unlocked function

it doesn't

far as I can tell it doesn't do anything at all other than make it orange

Fun

I figured the staff resets/restocks the mansion every night, hence why Simon isn't allowed to sleep inside.

The staff were told to leave almost a week before the game starts, though it's implied the head maid is still around... Somewhere

Thanks, doc

get the option of a new room

choosing it would block my only path forward

choose it anyway

it contains nothing of interest

FFFFFFUCK

So who's nepobaby is this, anyway? Dude is running an "independent" hollywood studio.

figure out that the game starts on nov 7

timelock safe still won't unlock

the fuck am i doing wrong

The vault always tells you what day it is right now. I tried the time safe a few times without luck until I used that and counted.

The studio he's in charge of has connections the certain big corps.
Spoilered because it's not relevant to the actual game.

file.png - 1433x173, 257.82K

green memos found in hartley's room are always false

I have literally not found a single green memo and I have no idea who the fuck Hartley is.
This feels like cut content or a red herring.

blueprints

thunderous

bravo nolan

The vault always tells you what day it is right now

where?

I have zero interest in finding out the painting shit, since it seems like a non-requirement for rolling credits

I found one green memo in the locker room that said something or other was a fake name. Didn't bother writing it down because I was getting bored.

On the desk outside the vault itself.

By painting shit you mean the pictures on the walls? I didn't mind that puzzle, then I went to the Rumpus Room and the cuck robot spells it out for you and removes any fun from the puzzle itself. And that was like a 2nd visit hint, what a joke.

so he has jewish connection

find lockpick

it's rng

Kill me

It also doesn't work on half the locks in the game. I think it's got about a 30% success rate on the ones it does work on.

On the desk outside the vault itself.

oh i guess vault and shelter are different things, because there's no desk anywhere

Yeah, shelter is a bomb shelter. Vault is like a bank vault, it's full of money.

You did read that you have to set it an hour in advance, right?
The game does start on Nov. 7th
But you should set it like two hours ahead, and just wait, it'll automatically open if you did things right.
You can just look at the clock on the outside of the mansion while waiting.

never find a trunk when I have hammer

never find dig spots when I have a shovel

never find electronic doors when I have key cards

I sure love rng

Why the actual fuck are reviews comparing this to Outer Wilds? Are they actually unironic paid shills? The only comparison I can think of is that you’re doing things over and over again, but Outer Wilds actually has some kind of goal and set tasks to do with the repeating loops giving you access to different puzzles. This game is just banging your head against a wall and repeating the same shit over and over every time it randomly decides to fuck you over.

what I gather from this thread is that I sold wait at least +-1 year for the changes/fixes to come out that make this game fun
yes?

Are they actually unironic paid shills?

Yes. They know OW is a massive beloved game and that it's a "go in blind" type game.
Comparing this to OW makes people buy it and go in blind without looking up if the game is actually any good.
Jews love to use creations by better people to elevate their slop.

The only comparison I can think of is that you’re doing things over and over again

It is very unfortunate, but I believe this is exactly why.
You have to remember, most journalists are too dumb to finish most of Outer Wilds without looking things up.
To them, this game is amazing because it makes them feel smart when solving the logic box puzzle.
Most of them have only played an hour of the game, by the way. During which you discover almost everything this game has to offer and only start to encounter the hard rng wall.

The problems with this game can't really be fixed with a patch, it's just tedious from the ground up

Even if they fixed the RNG, I don't think the game is interesting enough to warrant playing. Unless there's some big 11th hour reveal, all of the story stuff I've found is tedious.

Outer Wilds had intrigue. You want to stop the sun exploding, you want to find out why you keep looping, and each new place you go fills in one more piece of the puzzle.

Here? There's nothing. Thinly veiled "red man bad, blue man good" propaganda, a cast of characters who barely write anything and are trickier to keep track of than anything in Obra Dinn, because they are both non-characters and horrendously boring. There's no hook to keep playing, even if they did fix the gameplay. I don't care about unlocking the next area, I don't care what's in room 46. How hard is it to write something with intrigue? Say the baron died under suspicious circumstances or something, give me fucking anything to add interest, you retarded kike.

Thinly veiled "red man bad, blue man good" propaganda

Oh my FUCKING GOD
YOU'RE RIGHT
THIS IS WHY THEY LOVE THE GAME SO MUCH
It all make sense now! What the fuck!

this one dude who keeps samefagging his negative points against the game and even going as low as bringing Anon Babble boogeyman into this

we get it, can you move on please

We're just trying to figure out the biggest puzzle this game has to offer: why is this game being praised so much when it is dogshit in reality?

appreciated
my expectations have been lowered thousandfold AND I will wait a year at least

Anyone actually progress in the story? From what I can make sense of, the story seems very formulaic, you're the "blue prince" and the red guard or whatever are the current ruling party and maybe something happened a long time ago and the blues got usurped or something, so now the secretive blues are sending each other gay fake messages by using different ink colors.

dude had his response ready to submit as soon as that cooldown went off too lmao

Open the cabinets in the upside mirror part, I got two room unlock blueprints and some basic resources.

as that cooldown went off

OBJECTION!

XX:19:01

XX:19:57

As the cooldown is one minute, this cannot be a samefag!
Unless you think that the insinuated samefag actualy pays for a Anon Babble pass, to which I would answer with: fuck you, how dare you insult my intelligence like that.

Could you figure out the code in this room? I've seen the red lie memo in the other room that collects all spread out items but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with such information.

1569580_169.jpg - 2560x1440, 434.22K

Holy shit this is extremely boring and tedious. I tried it for a few hours on game pass. I dont see what all the hype is about.

There's a map wide meta solution that gives a big hint towards all of the safe codes, but that safe is the "easiest" and you can work it out with the memo in the desk

That note with the wall of text you find there? The only important part in it is the term "March of the Counts".
Now this OBVIOUSLY means that you should count the amount of counts in the room (the busts) and multiply this with the month March as a numeric value.
As there are two busts, this would turn into 0303.

But the correct way to solve it is how says.
You have to hope rng gives you access to a specific room, then make your way through EVERY location to get a hint.

Yes, it's retarded though.

i'm enjoying it so far
my biggest worry from the demo was that it would be too quick/easy since i had a bunch of shit done by day 2
i feel like i have an objective to aim for each run, rather than trying to finish everything at once, which i almost pulled off in the demo

Items should be permanent. This would lessen most of the tedium.

thanks for keeping the thread alive at least, keep going lil bro, you're doing great!
that's exactly what i've been doing and it's fucking 6 PM already, no idea what's going on here, i'm on day 14 so it's nov 20, right?

That soon fades away as the objectives become less and less likely to achieve, and each run fizzles out before you make any tangible progress.

I just cant believe that none of the reviews went hard on the RNG at all. Its such an issue and so obvious that its a poorly implemented way of stretching a 5h game into 5 times more.
Unless all these idiots just LOVE rng, I cant understand it

Is there a day limit?
Also what the hell was the vision about the dude stalking you about

This. The game is fun for the first hour or two.
Then it turns you religious as you pray for the RNG to bless you with the item or room you need to progress.

None of them actually played it. They either had a different build with way more items, or they were handed a press package with direct instructions on where to go and what to do to progress. Probably both, and then they were paid off.

Is there a day limit?

I don't think so. I reached day 24 before I gave up.

Also what the hell was the vision about the dude stalking you about

That was you, anon.

There is nothing wrong with a Anon Babble pass when you're not the one paying for it and you're dumping manga on Anon Babble... but those good times are now over

Honestly, the opening of this game is great. I really enjoyed last night, I started playing it at like 3pm, then went to bed at 1am.

The day after? Yeah, it's shit. It's fun while you're still discovering new rooms, but when you have to start getting certain room combos to progress it just falls apart.

but those good times are now over

I hate it. I know change is inevitable, but I had hoped we'd get something new in return. Not whatever hell this is.

Buy the game from Steam because love me puzzlers and meta progression games

make absolutely zero progress in two hours, just endless dead ends and pieces that don't fit together

refund because fuck this

still can't wrap my head around how it got 93 MC

remember that I have like three years of gamepass for 90 bucks so download again from there

day 2 get to unlock garage door, open orchard, open gem mine, get enough hints what to do next for a life time and unlock two permament disks

Whoever decided that progression must be locked behind RNG needs to be shot. Or at least do it like Gnosia does and have at least one possible meta unlock per run. I have now seend lab at least three times with no possible way to connect it to boiler room.

If I take my power hammer and break into the brick walls in the greenhouse and secret garden, what happens

As someone that loves roguelites, loves puzzle games and loves tile laying games this game is complete horseshit

I think the worst part is it expecting you to do the really really simple logic puzzle every single time you enter the parlor

I feel like id actually like this game if it were just a giant mansion and the whole place rooms randomly thing wasn't there at all.

According to my notes, you should be right. Can you take a pic of the timer on the shelter pc just in case?
The rewards aren't that good, unless youreally want another letter and a gem

If not permanent, then certain rooms should always have certain items.
Like the Patio should always have a shovel, the security room should always have a keycard, and so on.

the hype is about game journos being friends with the devs and pushing it as hard as they can

all that

day 2

What the fuck
Took me like 20 days to get the magnifying glass, the dark room and the breaker room to spawn in one run.

Unless all these idiots just LOVE rng

Balatro won a trillion awards.
These idiots love RNG because it's the only way for them to feel like they are smart or good at games

I don't know what you refer to - I was lamenting an online buddy of mine not renewing my pass this past Christmas after a few years. I now use a captcha auto-solver but with my CPU, it's about 5-8s of inactivity between Submitting and the post actually going through, and I can't dump manga anymore because I can no longer queue several posts in a row.

Balatro is fun for the first 10-ish hours when you're constantly unlocking stuff.
Then it turns into RNG hell (for most people) where you need specific jokers and boss blinds to win a run. The same goes for Slay the Spire.
The thing with Blue Prince is that the 10 hours in other games is only 1 hour in this game (if you're not dillydallying).
After that you've seen most of what the game has to offer and you're stuck doing the same thing over and over.

your rng is bad?

thank you for your time, come again

your rng was good, then bad?

thank you for your time, come again

your rng was good, then good, then bad?

thank you for your time, come again

your rng was good, then good, then good, then bad?

thank you for your time, come again

Also after posting this I realize why people seem to be so positive about this game: they are not very smart.
While most people here will have seen and figured out everything they have easy access to in the first hour, most normal people are only obtaining bits and pieces during many runs.
For them, the RNG wall only hits after their sixth or tenth hour, or their 15th or 30th run.

Watching Cohh, I am now wondering what the conditions of spawning the Foundation are. Cause I am surprised I've had my foundation for way longer than he has and have gone underground etc and I am not sure if he has made it to the chamber on day 20

It's like if Myst made you wait half an hour to flip a coin to see if you can attempt the puzzle or wait again

You can't be serious

We're talking about the same concept. Things are constantly getting worse (because nothing stays the same forever), but better or newer things aren't appearing. Storytiming has gotten way more difficulty and yet there's nothing to replace them.

Fuck i fell for the shill campaign

I wasn't, I was just baiting.
Worked less well than I'd imagined. Guess I should just make single word "tranny" replies like the other shitposters.

Zoe Quinn's game got initial buzz on the single site where she fucked that dude, not widespread shit like this. Combined with streamers, you think this game could afford spending 5-10k on each streamer to shill this game?

Yeah you're right about that. blah blah blah I hate that I am here but I am stuck here and there is no worthy alternative this late fuck

piggy backs off "go in blind" game hype

cushioned first two hours

So it's anti-refund bait?

You have to do the toddler-level arithmetic and logic puzzles basically every run

The gall of these hacks to shill this game so hard, I'm glad I pirated it

Day 6 btw
Just get lucky, idk

It should give you 5 rooms to choose between, not 3. I think this one change could actually mitigate at least half of the RNG.

Need a manga board with more lenient cooldowns & captcha queues.
Who am I kidding Anon Babble will keep getting worse and worse.

I'm not playing any more of this shit. I'm just going to watch the ending on youtube whenever someone uploads it. Anyone who enjoys roguelike shit is a brainlet.

Honestly just being able to choose whatever, but be restricted by arbitrary rules (like green rooms only being allowed at the sides of the mansion) would solve everything.

You haven't gotten to the darts "puzzle" yet? The fact that it even has an ingame guide to solving it is insulting.
I know, ungodly amount of RNG decided to grace me. Don't worry, I'm stuck in hell now.

I put the foundation in the most retarded possible location (1 space southwest of the antechamber) because I didn't realize what it was or how it worked and kinda fucked myself because I need insane RNG to get to it and enable the elevator. The game isn't designed very well. I thought it was going to be some kinda shortcut to the north section of the house when I put it down.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU DIDNT ACTUALLY TRUST THAT KIKE

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH

lmao, I had the exact same thing happen

finally get to the door-less side of the foundation

get four runs in a row where i'm not able to path to an entrance of it

I've gotten the darts one too, that one is at least a bit more mentally stimulating.

I played 6 days and haven't seen anything people in this thread talk about desu. I think I could have done the breaker room dark room shit but I got so bored I was just trying to beeline for the anti-chamber and pick up keys as there's literally 0 gameplay and default walking in Unity is so fucking boring

Anon, you don't understand. I am DESPERATE for another Outer Wilds.

There is hints hidden in places to enable you to do shit in the utility room. This for instance. Which is from any computer if you know the password, which is from using the magnifying glass on note on any wall in the rooms with computer

NTA, but I'm reading this and I still don't understand.
I already turned everything purple and nothing happened.

There's so much annoying time padding it really turns me off playing any more today

The panning intro cinematic when you start

Walking over to the outer room to set that up and back

Find security room, have to slowly go through the menus to set security to low, offline to unlocked

Doing the brainless Parlor and billiards puzzles

Unlocking safes

cause the same computers have another email you didn't read

maill.jpg - 1990x993, 190.05K

i have a feeling coins become less and less relevant with allowances, so is the correct choice the key upgrade here?

Gems feel the most needed

If you have security system offline you should pump that shit up to High.

You ALWAYS want more gems.

Well yeah but that's if you actually have the utility closet, backtracking to the security room if you find it later is also gay and annoying

yup, every time you go into the parlor you have to walk to the desk, grab the key, watch the new item animation, walk to the boxes, read the stupid simple puzzle they got, open it and grab the gems. And the way the game is designed forces you to always do the parlor/billiard shit. I can't wrap my head around how the game is so bad

...why?

Also

locker room has 20 locked lockers

have to guess which one contains something of value

also have to hope rng isn't moving the contents around

Who the fuck designed this?

If you have a keycard, you set it to high so you get more keycard rooms aka no regular keys needed to open. On low, you probably will need more keys
I think on those types of locks, the lockpicking kit actually works well

Please do tell, because I'm not touching this game again.

why

Bcause that means more doors you don't need any resources to go through. Same if you have the key card. The further north you go the higher the chance of a door being locked. Ergo, the more you have keycard doors, which are now free, the smaller the chance of you having to waste keys on doors.

You wouldn't happen to be a game journalist, would you?

I got the magnifying glass and saw the password but I've never been offered the room with the PC. I cant really be bothered to play anymore theres so many other better games to play

Why do games media like this game so much?

its a date :)

people constantly talk about magnifying glass and I haven't even seen one in 6 days, shit ass "game"

Oh, right. The thing is, I never run out of keys.
The game instead just decides to dead end me and I'm forced to restart.

You haven't been offered a Security Room, Office, Shelter outside etc that means you just didn't even try after learning the password. The security room is one of the lower "rarity" rooms

It's the dumbest puzzle in the game, the photo is Christmas, and the safe combo is Christmas. Why? Because "lol dates".

finally pull a boiler room and lab

start up the boiler, point it in the right direction and follow the glowing vents connecting it to labs

one room along the way inexplicably just doesn't have vents running through it

run bricked

please tell me im missing something

Are you fucking kidding me?
Was there even a hint anywhere in the game talking about dates?
Or is this another "suffer rng for 10 hours to get access to a single piece of paper saying dates are important" kind of thing?

security Room says there are 15 coins somewhere

I've barely gotten past rank 2

went back and checked every room, but didn't find shit

It's just 12 room, where the fuck did they hide 15 coins.

This game made me realize why people watch streamers and let's plays, what a fucking chore holy shit

Nope, that's the way the game was designed
Have fun rerolling rooms again!

Only specific rooms have vents. Have fun!

Anon I don't want to try the game is fucking shit

On the ground nearly hugging stuff usually. Unless you drafted the pool, in that case its at the bottom of the pool.

Isn't mailbox only available from Office?

Yes, the hint you get in the study tells you about the dates and the safes.

Key if you are a Hovel addict.
Otherwise, Gem.

live in a country that doesnt celebrate christmas or uses those icons

puzzle is unbeatable

the dev must be the dumbest fucking retard I've ever seen lmao

I haven't gotten mailbox and I am on day 16, already been underground. Emails are just from any computer
Yup I had put lab bottom right ish, and only much later got boiler. So it was fucked from the start.

Don't worry, you'll start failing due to Keys as you keep playing. Almost all runs that get into the upper half end cause of Key scarcity or lack of Gems and getting lots of shit non-Gem rooms.

the study

Ah, I've never seen that room, I believe. Explains a lot.

Hovel is really the best starter-room cause of that. You can make up those steps via buying food in kitchen, dining room

Emails are just from any computer

I meant Emails, sorry.
And I am almost 100% certain that Emails are locked out on every other computer.
Gonna go find one now.

So yeah, as I was saying.

Untitled.png - 860x417, 380.14K

What do you even do with the classrooms? I screenshotted everything but I have no idea what the fuck am I supposed to do with these. Or am I supposed to manage to shit out all 8 classrooms in the same layout?

What the did workshop mean by "the true box is not always the true prize"?
I opened a few wrong boxes but found nothing.

Fun fact, you can take the wind-up key out of the parlor.
It has some useful exchanges out at the trading post.

This seems useful.

It is. However, good luck getting it to spawn itself.

this "game" is like taking a rubik's cube, randomly scrambling it, arbitrarily deciding you can't turn X direction after every turn and only allowing you 50 turns total. If you think that's fun...well, good for you I guess. But I wouldn't really call that a puzzle, or a game, just tedium.

Ignoring all the other RNG, this is my least enjoyable part of this game. Okay the rooms are drafted, let me walk away and get a single fucking gem and come back. HAVING to make this choice right now is why this game feels doubly frustrating. This boiler room would be perfect to lead to a lab, plus I have shelter.

You picked up the winding key

Thanks for telling me that for the umpteenth time.

What's wrong? Don't like solving a logic puzzle every 15-30 minutes?

THIS BOX IS HAS GEMS

THIS BOX IS EMPTY

THE OTHER BOXES ARE LYING

So difficult!

boiler room not spawning for 4 days straight

Yeah okay, I'm done with this shit

I’m glad I looked into this game more before actually buying it. The whole thing sounds like pic related except sometimes the game decides to only haff eleven metchsteek so you have to start over from the beginning and try again

IMG_9998.jpg - 1048x526, 193.82K

Finally got a red envelope.
Just 6 (or 7) more to go...

everything is so fucking artificially paded. The entire steps thing to somehow prevent backtracking for clues, the lack of a basic journal... in a puzzle game?

Yeah, that's literally it.
But in the meantime you found part 1 out of 20 of the solution to puzzle #5, so the normalfags feel like they're making constant progress.
Despite each run taking half an hour, of course. But that doesn't matter because they rarely finish games anyway.

He's still crying

A full day later

Your tears are delectable, Anon.

Inb4 "not me, who are you talking about, take your medications, etc."

Combined with streamers, you think this game could afford spending 5-10k on each streamer to shill this game?

No, he only has to pay those that influence streamers, don't forget a bunch of streamers are trend chasers, so they'll play whatever is on the news

I had the same shit happen, drives me insane.

You're meant to keep all your notes in a gay little physical book! It'd be fucking nice if the game just offered a screenshot tool, nobody is going to jot down the notes.

It's especially stupid with red letters. They're literally in my inventory, why can't I read them again?

Fun! :)

you pick a roguelite puzzle game to trend chase instead of fotm schedule 1

Ah yes this makes sense in your brain

8 years to make this

incredibly obvious astroturfing

Explain

They're literally in my inventory

No, they aren't. You leave them where you found them. The thing in your "inventory" is just a counter.
Overall, I do agree though. I'm just being a pedantic asshole.

2 years to make it, 6 years to amass enough funding to pay off every rag out there.

The problem they have is that they forgot to make the game good.

dev/publisher believing people are too stupid to notice
they are unfortunately largely correct

Purely coincidence

file.png - 1421x164, 250.69K

Can hold a shovel, sledgehammer, lever, etc.

Can't hold important documents that are needed for progression

This game is a humiliation ritual

The thing that annoyed me the most about the obvious paid reviews is that this game is not a "must go in blind" type game. Like there were no actual surprises in the 5h+ I've played.
They did that just to get more sales from people looking for the next outer wilds

Don't forget how the protagonist throws all his tools away when he leaves the house. What, won't they fit in his tent?

They did that just to get more sales from people looking for the next outer wilds

The sad part is, it absolutely worked.

Yes, it worked on me because I'm a dumb retarded fuck that still has hope is his cold dead heart.

given it away on gamepass and PS+

So the only people buying this are Steamies and Switch owners?

I didn't read any reviews because I'm not a homosexual. I played the game because they shilled it here and I was bored enough to try it out, the premise sounded suspect but I thought it was something that could potentially work with careful balance.

Of course, then you play the game and there's no balance.

I'm not quite clear on what spreading coins does. I haven't encountered a terminal while I have any coins in my inventory. Does it just take your coins and add them to rooms for the next day as a form of coin carryover? Does it take coins from next-day rooms that would normally have them and add them to ones which wouldn't?

It adds more coins, not your coins.

Spreading just means that it distributes that resource across the mansion rooms that are currently open, it doesn't take any of your money or anything, the money is just spawned in.

Literally the first thing the game has you read.

Why is the protagonist so scared of a ghost?

I played the game because they shilled it here

There has been nonstop negativity about the game since it came out and the positive reviews only started days before the release.

He's more scared of invalidating the will and losing his right to the estate.
Which is the canon ending, by the way. He never found the 46th room, the estate was auctioned off and the profits were donated to charity.

It's okay because the game tells you it's arbitrarily wasting your time

They shilled it 2 days before it came out, and they had a shill thread up when it launched. Obviously after it launched, they couldn't fight back against real players.

Because whether or not you get to keep the mansion and all the shit in it depends on if you follow his rules.
Also, there's many clues that you're being watched as you go through the mansion, so foul play would get you kicked out.
I didn't say it was okay. I just said there's an explanation for why Simon doesn't 'cheat'.

You mean someone made a thread about it, wondering if it was good due to all the reviews?
Seriously, why are you third-worlders always so schizophrenic?

The key is probably hidden behind several layers of rng, like everything else in this game.

This does not say you can't reuse the tools found within the estate.

you can't take tools off the estate

Place them on the driveway then

Why would you even want a mansion in the middle of nowhere? Imagine how much of a nuisance it would be getting food and whatnot.

It's not just the mansion, but all of the holdings as well.

The IGN reviewer said this game is on the same caliber as Outer Wilds, Obra Dinn, Portal, and Myst

poors wouldnt get it

ran out of footsteps in the basement

Goddamnit

Place them on the driveway then

They'll get removed by the staff that's obviously resetting everything every night.
And if the security room didn't make it clear enough, you're being watched at all times.
Yeah, and he was fucking lying. NEVER trust a game reviewer.

peak delusion

I live in a mansion irl in English countryside due to my father but its only like 20 minutes away from town. The one in this game is like in the middle of nowhere away from all civilisation.

It is important that you not rely on the successes of the previous day.

Just git gud, nephew
Also, just got the library two days in a row, but the book I asked for sucks. No wonder 'Marion' disappeared.

I love The Witness and I can understand it getting low scores since yeah, a puzzle game where the core of gameplay is just line puzzles can get really tiring, its an obvious negative if you arent into it.
The Blue Prince has so many obvious negatives that its impossible that there arent low scores at all, I just dont believe it. Even if there are that many rng fags and autists reviewing games I cant accept that all the ones reviewing before release ARE rng fags and autists that just LOVED the game.

Can’t spell ignoramus without IGN

This game is unironically breaking my mind. Am I just THAT unlucky?

How do you fully drain the fountain and reservoir? Reservoir looks like you need power from the boiler room, and even pumping water to kitche/pool you can't get the fountain empty

Has anyone gotten past credits and into the "real" game yet? Jason kept saying that essentially the mindblowing stuff is all post the regular ending, but wtf is it?

Its the painting pairings. You don't need them to roll credits and is really the only thing that will take pure hours to see all the pairings.

Who the fuck asked for roguelite elements in a puzzle game? Am I in the minority for expecting and wanting another solid first person puzzle game? I'm glad I finally got to play the demo after it kept getting removed because that killed all interest in purchasing the game. From memory, the only real puzzles in the demo was a math problem (not a puzzle) on a dart board and then some easy "pick the correct thing" where one lies, one tells the truth, etc. There was some interconnectivity for finding shit in room A that could be used in room b, but room b is based on RNG and the unfun antibacktrack shit also killed it for me. Maybe it's all been magically corrected in the release game, but OP makes me think otherwise.

Is this anti or pro-church?

Who the fuck asked for roguelite elements in a puzzle game?

me
feel free to play any of the thousands of puzzle games without roguelite elements in the market.

Neither, it's just the way the church works.

I wonder if someone could find a way to mod in MP.
Having 4 or 5 people romping through the manor would do wonders for my ADD-coded brain.

Well that's underwhelming. I was expecting something like "post-credits you find that there are multiple other houses/locations and you have really only explored 25% of what's in the game"

Well I'm baffled.

658414107810.jpg - 1272x1208, 342.3K

and even pumping water to kitche/pool you can't get the fountain empty

You can, I've done it. Make sure you're switching tanks, you can hold 8 units between them, and with every other slot filled you can drain the fountain.

Reservoir needs boiler room to drain, though.

ong frfr

There's more than you think, but people keep having these weird-ass notions about popular puzzle games that they have WAY more content.
I saw it with Animal Well last year too. People assumed there'd be like an entire 2nd map or something.

Well you should have asked for it to be implemented better

lol, decided to spoil myself, what a piece of shit game, and how curious that these sites have all these guides at the day the game comes out
gamespot.com/gallery/blue-prince-paintings-pairs-of-paintings-44-characters/2900-6435/#4
The amount of effort to solve this puzzle that is affected by rng, to just give away a fucking hint, and not even a good one, this shit should have been a note at best

when do i get to ride a spaceship and explore different worlds

beggars can't be choosers :(

After playing Void Stranger, every other puzzle game just feels half-baked and horribly lacking in content. What, you don't have a whole second world hidden behind the first one? What, you don't have a third one? You don't even have a FOURTH one? You don't even have a shmup section? You don't have a 20 hour content patch dropped with no changelog?

It's like they're not even trying.

Doesn't Animal Well have a bunch of extra shit? My memory is garbage, but I got the real ending (couldn't tell you what that means) and I got all the eggs. I only got a handful of the rabbits? and Anon Babble acted like there was a whole second game with ARGs and hidden puzzles that I missed.

Fair enough, that's just where I go with this level of word of mouth. An extra meta-puzzle on top wouldn't make me talk like these folks are

Is Void Stranger that boring one note sokoban shit or is it a real puzzle game?

sokoban is a real puzzle game tho

That should be expected of a minimalist 2D sokoban game. In any other game with unique 3D art and expanded mechanic toolset, it's herculean.

Found the tranny propaganda

1569580_172.jpg - 2560x1440, 377.78K

I enjoyed this puzzle. The game gives you way too many hints for it though, it was neat figuring it out with the study, then they outright tell you how to solve it at multiple points. The first 4 lines are worthless and a lot of the bottom squares can be ignored.

So it sudoku, but I wouldn't want an entire game based around it.

Do you not remember Starfield? Journos should be safely ignored at this point, I remember reading a lot about how finishing your "first loop" in Starfield would be some big game changer.

math puzzle that doesn't follow PEMDAS

Thanks I guess.

Dart puzzle.png - 1920x1080, 1.52M

It's easier than PEDMAS though, the order of operations is just going outwards.

It's funny how even the guides skip the first part of the hidden message because they have no clue what it means.

These are pretty juicy deets
Shame they still rely on RNG, but I'm not a lucklet.

Did they really not get it? It's the orchard. You need a date to crack the padlock on the small gate.

Unless there's some late game gate that actually leads to a safe/the last letter.

and Anon Babble acted like there was a whole second game with ARGs and hidden puzzles that I missed.

There was, but it was mostly designed to serve as a thing you'd have to solve with others.
After getting the eggs, you now have to get all the bunnies. And once you have all the bunnies, you're now looking ways to literally break the game.
This results in a code which you have to apply to a thing within a specific area to form them into a map that you have to follow to get to the final secret.

Is it referencing the gate outside? Im assuming yes, but just like everything else in this game it feels like tacked on shit, no smoothness at all.

I would, alternative sudoku is kino

watching some streamer play the game

one of the levers is in the room with seven locked doors

You're joking. Seriously?

Just spoil the ending for me. I'm too lazy to keep playing

all this praise

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

file.png - 941x156, 30.62K

And it's also completely random which one.

oh shit I didn't know you could get multiple in one go
Yeah its not that good but its engaging enough to play through

Doesn't the drafting room have a model of the grand hall each day? I don't know if it shows the lever though.

Seriously. And it moves daily.
Other stuff of note:

Foyer makes all the doors unlocked

I forget what it's called off the top of my head, but the room that lets you add new rooms has a diorama showing that day's layout

you can use the metal detector

Your family (blues) stole the house and property from revolutionary commies (reds). You ultimately destroy the house and sink the property into a pit underneath it to get back at your chud heritage.

This slop will be forgotten faster than Animal Well

the game is a constant barrage of information about the rules of the game, they are barely hints since its outright spelling out how stuff actually works and its all these poor puzzles. The gaits puzzle, is that really the best they could think off? So uncreative.

Am I blind or has no one completed the game yet?
It's so sad that people are going to pretend the game is lengthy because of its difficulty and not because of the tedious rng.

total playtime: 0.3 hours

Please be true that would be so fucking fun y

wtf all that and the payoff is a hint to use dates for lock codes? is that not the 1st thing people would try on their own?

I imagine most people get bored and quit before the end. I could probably go and finish it, but I just can't be bothered going to get the key and shit. The faggots shilling this will still go "noo you didn't beat it unless you got every red letter!", so what's the point?

is that not the 1st thing people would try on their own?

No, because with all the praise I expected a more intricate puzzle surrounding the safes.

how could this roguelite game have all the features of a roguelike?

I am now angrylike. they can't do this to me

>707981264

It's either a puzzle game with a rougelike awkwardly tacked on, or a rougelike with a puzzle game awkwardly tacked on. Either way, they don't mesh together well for most people here. But you already knew that, so no (You) for you.

this guy responded to you, in case you missed it

roguelike

:^)

So are we eventually going to get a "The Looker"-style parody of this called "Finger Prince"?

file.png - 650x721, 679.42K

Fucking hell

apparently ALL journo reviwers just happen to not notice this fatal game design flaw

it's a metal detector is beeping and you literally don't find shit episode

You're blind, then. I love the metal detector.

Not gonna lie, the idea of a game that no one has actually beaten is intriguing.

lock your game's ending behind a 0.0001% chance

journalists will praise your game until the end of time

Did we just stumble upon a winning formula?

Fucking hell, you know what it was?
the fucking lever in the great hall, which somehow you can hear from the corner of the bunk room

Someone save me going through the alphabet and tell me what Routa's name is

can upgrade mail room to deliver packages to the front steps

holy shit that is huge.

This is what I guarantee happened

retardo journo starts game

they solve one or two basic bitch math puzzles

they laugh and clap their hands because the puzzles were so easy even they could figure it out

they find one or two hints at later puzzles and their curiosity is piqued. “wow…” they think. “There must be some really deep craaaaaazy puzzles in here!”

their run falls apart and they have to start over again from scratch

”OH OHHH!!! Just like my favorite video game Outer Wilds!!!” (They haven’t played it but watched a few hours of a streamer play it)

they play another run and make zero headway on anything other than seeing more fragments of puzzles they’ll never solve

based on the information they gathered over the course of an hour and half, they go write their 10/10 review for a game that surely lives up to what they imagined in their head, because it certainly couldn’t fall apart under even the slightest amount of scrutiny

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading positive reviews. I don’t know how anyone who actually played the game can be dickriding it so hard

everything about this game's presence online is so fucking fake.
there are dozens of review videos and steamers playing his game but view counts are all fucking low.
there seem to be more supply (shills) than actual players

ahh fuck ive been spelling his name wrong

If by "trust" you mean "actually paid for this shit"? I'm hoping most people here weren't that foolish.

both critics and players love it

the site riddled with third worlders hates it

Your entire post is exactly what I'm thinking as well.
Everything is just so contrary to my own experience, I feel like I'm literally going insane.

process.jpg - 1293x1213, 359.58K

CAN SOMEONE LINK ME A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF A COMPLETE SUCCESSFUL RUN?

I pirated it and I'm glad I did, even if I'm enjoying it. I would have bought it for 20 bucks but they were too greedy.

once you reach the antechamber/basement they really should have given you a permanent 4th choice every draft or 2 starting rerolls daily. the RNG is just too much

explain how did a one dev indie managed to bribe the entire industry?

he fell for the shilling and astroturfing campaign

Why do you keep replying to yourself?

USAID or whoever the big sponsors are

Unlike this shit the Look Outside push was fine since the game itself was actually amusing.

Outer Wilds sucked too,. I don't get the appeal
Rance 10 is the only good rougelite game.

One possible explanation is that the (company of the) guy behind it has connections to large companies as seen here: But even then this is all very disproportionate to the treatment indie games normally get.

even thinkygame discord and puzzle subreddits are trashing this crap

Look Outside was fully organic, with the game getting much traction during the Steam demo event and the dev hauling ass to finish and release it within half a year.
Even now large streamers are playing the game without being paid to (and very much enjoying it).

Outer Wilds is literally one of the best games in existence. I am sorry you lack the intellectual capacity to fully experience what it has to offer.

Rance 10

Ah, you're a coomer. That explains a lot.

Outer Wilds is literally one of the best games in existence.

It's alright. Best games in existence? It's top 50 at best.

oomer

back to twitter

top 50 makes it one of the best games in existence.

It's top 50 at best.

nta
with how many games are out there, that's still really high praise

garage is useless, it just lets you open the garage door but the utility box already does that

Being one of the top 50 games of all time still makes it one of the best games in existence, so sure

Once you cut out all the shovelware, there are only about a thousand games out there.

I think part of it is game journalists seeing the recent rise in popularity of games with knowledge gates etc. and threw all their chips on this thinking it was a good example, so they could so they were hip etc.

They clearly didn't dig past the surface theming to realize it was an RNG slog.

which still makes it one of the best
like jesus christ anon
can you even beat the dart puzzle?

"top 5% of all games" is still quite impressive Mr. Sentient Goalpost.
But also as soon as you start blanket discrediting games as "shovelware," we're entering the territory where you can arbitrary say anything you want and be technically correct. This is one thing you need to leave binary if you want your argument to have any merit.

It's so fucking weird right? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading this shit. Marketing team has done a hell of a job to convince these hacks it was totally outer wilds. When every comment I read from outer wilds fans has been "what the fuck is this shit?"

be games journalist

people already don’t respect you

play game for all of two hours

man this is a cool concept and there’s puzzles everywhere. It’s GOT to be GOOD

base your entire review on the most base level of play

now you look like an even bigger dipshit because everyone who actually played the game realized that it sucks and you don’t know what you’re talking about

Is there a more embarrassing “job” than game journalist?

I am wondering if there is a second use for the garage. The place the vent inside goes to isn't connected to the door box

Garage is good for leys

Not him but Outer Wilds seems like a really great game on the surface, but because I can't control the spaceship it becomes a retarded action game where I spend all of my time bouncing off of the terrain rather than actually solving puzzles. I've finished The Witness, I've gotten 90% through Baba is You. I fucking love Obra Dinn (not that it's challenging I just really think it's great). Outer Wilds? I can't even make it to the first fucking puzzle. I've tried to play it four times and I ragequit trying to land the fucking ship every single fucking time. Piece of shit retarded-ass spaceship controls are also why I ragequit Elite Dangerous and Hardspace: Shipbreaker, but at least those games were designed around it. Spastic ship controls in Outer Wilds are like forced stealth sections in action games or forced combat sections in stealth games. Faggot game should never be complimented when it forces its retarded controls on people who just wanna solve puzzles. I didn't buy the game to play Star Wars. JUST LET ME PLAY THE FUCKING GAME AND NOT THE STUPID FUCKING EUROTRUCK SIMULATOR LANDING IN THE GARAGE BULLSHIT

...

Blue Box: The Black Box is Black
White Box: The Black Box is True
Black Box: The Black Box is Empty
Is it white?

They are 100% getting paid, or are supper friends with the dev.
It's the highest rated game of the year so far.

This game doesn't respect your time or your intelligence. It's insulting. No wonder journos love it. Balatro being named GOTY last year is proof this industry is a complete joke. People will complain about micro transactions or whatever then praise literally gambling dogshit.

I'm watching some streamers playing it and I swear to god already on their 2nd day the have this huge eventful runs full of new rooms constantly, reaching really far and unlocking lots of hints. In 20 days I barely found shit with most runs being the same shit until I ran out of resources. There's no way they have the same copy

black

No, because that would make all 3 statements true. The white box is lying.

Blue is always true.
White can't be true because then all 3 would be true.
Which then means the opposite is fact, White is false, so the truth is "the Black box is false."
Which then means the opposite is fact, Black is false, so the truth is "The Black box has gems."

they were already paid. they dont' care.
silksong is coming soon

Once in a while, you get these absolutely insane days with tons of good rooms.
My day 14 was something like 8 rare rooms I'd never seen before and a huge pile of money and items.
RNG bullshit. (I don't mind)

Boy anon do I have a cheap-ass game for you

ml.jpg - 941x613, 76.64K

the only hint you have about the key is about the black box, you don't need even need to think in this case

dude just waste 2 minutes and six steps at the beginning of each run to go to the shed area

the skillest of issues. It flies itself in space, and in the gravity well you just have to point ass to grass

this reads like bait but in case it isn't, just click autopilot?

puzzle roguelike

into the trash it goes
jk I played it last year, pretty fun

you don't always need to enter the shed. So it can be 4 steps
but, yeah the game is retarded.
Your nigga should run 2x as fast

4 steps in cases like Hovel and Classroom (nothing spawns inside 90% of the time)

30$ for a roguelite

After a certain threshold it's more convenient to just go gambling

Journos aren't going to fully play an indie game (or any game for that matter), and the best part of any roguelite is the beginning, while your brain is still in honeymoon phase and hasn't realized it fell for yet another skinnerbox

draft lab

immediately borked cause I didn't get one of like 3 other rooms that have vents

This is actual horseshit. I can't imagine how many runs it would take to power the lab via boiler room

but because I can't control the spaceship

You need a basic understanding of orbital mechanics. Unironically go play KSP for a few hours. Once you land (not crash) on the moon, you're ready to play Outer Wilds.
The auto pilot works in three steps: it aligns you to the target (the arrows you see on the sides tell you what your momentum is relative to your target), flies you towards it, and uses the retro boosters to decrease speed so you don't crash into it.
Also, try using a controller. I've seen people say it makes it easier to fly the ship (but keyboard and mouse are better for observing your surroundings, which you should be constantly doing).
I find it very unfortunate that you were filtered and I hope you give it another attempt sometime in the future.

It's not bait, flying the spaceship genuinely makes me livid because I KNOW there's a good game hiding behind being able to do it. I haven't seen an auto-pilot option, just an auto-align one which still causes me to go ass to grass and bounce around a whole bunch. That idiot plant with the harmonica inside of it on the starting planet drives me mental just trying to land in a way I can capture the audio. Then I go to some waterfall or some shit (I dunno it has been 4 years) and ragequit trying to land properly there. I fucking HATE "there is no up or down" space controls. Docking in Elite Dangerous the first time nearly made me ragequit, and docking the second time absolutely did after I spent like 20 minutes just crashing into the space station.

I've gotten broken lever inside the classroom on a desk but maybe you could spot it from the outside

Dunno, I was promoting it myself. NDA is for cucks.

The classroom seems like it should have something to "solved" but you can't interact with anything in meaningful capacities

Hoping I make good progress today, lads. I think I'm starting to get the hang of these after over twenty days. It's only about every five or so days, do these boxes trick me. If black were true then white would be true and blue would be true which isn't possible, so if you assume black to be false, then white is false. Blue can still be true, therefore the gems are in the white box?

Classrooms are for learning, Anon.

Alright, I guess I'll give KSP a go. I'm not convinced it will help here but one of my best friends really likes it so I've been meaning to give it a go anyway. I don't really want to use a controller, I only use them for dpads in fighting games, but I'll try a controller in Outer Wilds and see if I find it more intuitive. Thanks for the advice anon.

There's a reason it adds 8 classrooms to your drafts for the day. The second one is a different grade.

Is it just me or is there a suprising lack of puzzles in this puzzle game? I know the parlor, billiard room and secret garden have one each time, but otherwise?
Most notes just tell you the rules for spawning rooms, thats not really a puzzle. Am I blind/ dumb? Judging from the room directoy I've seen about 50% of rooms.

Strategy game with replay value

Look inside

Gambling simulator

You have the logic backwards.
White is the lynchpin here.
White can't be true because all 3 statements include white.
And because white is false, black is also false, which means blue is true.

You're early in the game if you've only seen 50% of the rooms.

You're welcome! I only briefly mentioned it, but in Outer Wilds the arrows on the side of your target are very important. If there are any, it means you're moving the direction of the arrow in relation to the target. No matter how much you'll accelerate, you'll never reach it.
No arrows means you're ready to accelerate towards the target (just remember to slow down before you reach the it, otherwise you'll be slamming into it).

Is that how it works? Interesting. You can have logic backwards and reach the same conclusion? I'll pay more attention to lynchpins in the future.

blueistrue.png - 1920x1080, 2.86M

If only the game would allow me to see more of them.

he took the triple gem upgrade

oh no no no no

I genuinely hate this game

MiSide is a more interesting room escape puzzle game than this

I took the funeral parlor, you can see it in the corner. It's crucial I don't mess these boxes up or I lose my day's steps. I've only messed up once if I recall correctly. Usually I'll only open the funeral parlor if I have more than three red rooms too.

I took the triple gems and I regret it, I kinda wish I took the double wind up ones to trade the second

man the shill game for this game pass slop is out of control
yeah bro totally oyour game of the year, fucking RNG baby puzzles and gimmicks

That happened to me before when I tried to read the kitchen. I guess you need at least 2 steps before you walk in.

there are more puzzles in less obvious ways but you mostly cant make much of them until you happen to find the shit that straight up tells you that such other thing is a puzzle, and then you see that its a shit puzzle at best, like counting how many times something repeats in the room and multiplying by some other piece of info that translates to some number... its not that logical and ties itself too much to rng bulshit.
Its a gambling game :^)

There are a lot of egregiously anti-player moments in this game, but that is not one of them.

Have one step remaining before you pass out from exhaustion

Take a step

WOOOOOOOW

Were this not the case, you could gain infinite steps from bedrooms

upgrade aquarium - power source

upgrade nook - always draft library

what the fuck, these upgrades are insane.

Untitled.jpg - 2494x837, 500.36K

The puzzles are really seeing how a few rooms or items interact, and having the RNG to get them in a single run.

What's the second one on Aquarium? Stars? Reading Nook sounds great though. I would probably pick that.

Is there any place to get these besides Office?

Archives and Weight Room are the most depressing rooms I get. I can't wait to lower their rarities or upgrade them. Even with shelter, I don't get them on the first three.

Wait, where'd you find these upgrade disk?

Stars, so only useful for the constellation. Which since you can get more than a single constellation in a run because the star count endlessly goes up I suppose you could have multiple bonuses from the single room.

Unironically, flying is almost completely pointless. And this comes from someone that loves the game.
90% of the time you'll be turning on auto pilot to a planet and landing wherever and exploring by foot.
the other 10% you'll be flying in 0g at a slower speed, which is easy as fuck.
Also, flying on K&M is much harder, so play with a controller with you have one.

rng lol
Hovel vs Shelter is a tough choice cause going Shelter then picking those dogshit rooms is really nice

Alright so I "finished" the game by finding room 46, took me about 10 hours.

Here is an inconclusive list of things I haven't solved/found/unlocked

2nd and 4th permanent slots

about 10 or so rooms

probably tons of extra rooms that you have to unlock

that weird puzzle in one of the rooms where it shows 2 paintings marked "with" and "without"

whatever the fuck the boiler does because I only got it during my last run and locked myself out of solving it due to putting it on the edge of the mansion

the sheet music puzzle solution because I'm missing one of the sheets

anything related to the classrooms assuming they're puzzles to begin with

any of the rooms to use the lever in(though I know which 2 rooms they are)

the diary key

whatever it is that the utility room fuse box puzzle turns on

I found some candles lit in a specific way in the catacombs, I think it's a puzzle?

did not manage to find a single safe solution

didn't manage to light all of the braziers outside

the torch room

I managed to open the red room in the basement during my last run, but forgot to check it out

only found 1 item combination

where to use the deposit key

what do to with the battery

what to do with the dynamite, though I saw a suspicious looking wall in the basement

never did the experiment lab puzzle

never used the boat in the basement

Didn't really think I was even close to finish the game. Was expecting to jump through more hoops considering how many things I hadn't solved yet.
The game is definitely nowhere near Outer Wilds/Obra Dinn and it really could have used extreme RNG mitigation through permanent unlocks or gained knowledge.
Also I never had to use my notes.

her ladyship's bedroom
great hall
foundation basement
fountain basement

They did that just to get more sales from people looking for the next outer wilds

Pretty smart. The only counter play is to not trust journalists.

How did you find it without doing all that shit? Just brute forced the basement? I thought some of that stuff would give you hints for how to get through the basement.

I used to always pick Hovel, but I try to avoid it now. I learned how to get gems easier and if I get hovel, weight room wipes me out really quickly because it's half your steps gone for a 4-sided room.

You didn't get one from the car trunk?

What's the ending even?
You're surrounded by the staff and they clap while saying congratulations one after each other?

Deposit key is the vault which I have to admit is a very rare room. I've only seen it once in all my runs. You sound like you've made good progress. I don't know if that's only 50% of the content or more. I hope to achieve what you've achieved soon.

What was there to bruteforce? I managed to get to the basement via foundation in the run before, played around with the rotation room puzzle and realized I had to come in from another angle so I tried doing exactly that during my next run and got lucky enough to get to the antechamber again.

Funnily enough got carried by the shovel. Managed to get an experiment that put my steps to 40 every time I got nothing out of a dirt pile. Guess which room has a lot of dirt piles.

Cloister has piles of dirt

Can't dig them up even with a shovel

Okay, that one annoys me a bit.

Huh? You should be able to, are you standing on the grass?

I can't stand on the grass, there's a barrier around it.

You can, there's a way inside.
You have to press two pixel-perfect buttons on the bottom of two middle pillers

nvm

FUCK of course I don't have reservoir lowered enough to go across to the foundation side. Plus I don't have basement key to use this door from Tomb side.

boat.jpg - 2758x1813, 303.13K

You were the red prince, your mother Marion read the book to you when you were little and you are now the blue prince because reasons.
I'm a literaturelet so I have no idea what it was trying to say

get to locker room

now understand the point of spread rooms

Backtracking all my steps away for keys.

Well you should probably work out how to get past that, shouldn't you? If you can't be bothered looking for the note, you want to face the angel and then just click on the knee high wall a bit.

...Huh.

Marion was your mom? I wasn't paying much attention but I thought she was the mother of the other kid in the house, who was the red prince.

Well spread rooms exist for you to figure out conference room, pretty fucking good.

Is that how conference room works? I can't believe it. I haven't understood it at all until now. Nothing ever appears in there but random loot.

Oooohhh. I think get it.
There's some bullshit about the Red Party being evil and censuring everything that goes against them and the Blue Party trying to overthrow them
You're probably raised in an environment created by the Red Party, growing into the red prince.
Going through the mansion and learning the truth about everything makes you become the blue prince, a symbol of hope for the Blue Party.
Or some shit. I don't know.

I hate this shit. Where is the disk? Only 15 steps left to find it...

5345435353.png - 1582x1080, 1.88M

Yeah, any time you spread from Office, Locker room, tomb and a few other spots all go to the plate on the conference room

The only way I know of that is because I saw a streamer being told by their chat what to do.
I searched for a way in myself, but because there was no indicator I never found it.

Pull up the map so we can guess.

Only 9 steps left...

23432424244.png - 1859x1042, 1.87M

That means it's better to get spread rooms when you have more rooms in the house? That's cool. I don't usually pick office because I don't know how worth it is to go panhandling through the house.

curious isnt it? I only saw that in a "20 things you should know before playing..." from Gamespot
But hey, it just works XD

Retarded puzzle not designed to mnetally stimulate but to frustrate
Sad!

There is a note somewhere addressed to the new gardener because he hasn't cleaned it in a while and they assumed he forgot, which he did.

I found a note somewhere that said it. Can't remember where it was, though. Might've been in one of the lockers.

Read a poem about a swan

Stumble into the secret garden

...Shit, I forgot the poem.

great hall

I don't get it. There's more to the secret garden?

The sheer amount of steps to open the diary now that I know where the key is, is genuinely fucking dumb
You need to draft the tomb as the outside room, then get a magnifying glass+metal detector and combine them in the workshop. Use this new tool to light the candles to get the diary key. After that you real options are to check the key into the coat check, or get the ladys room which is only offered on the west wing and ONLY from rooms going south.

This is why the manor people hated the guy. He loved puzzles and messing around with people too much.

No contact 100%. The mail room shit would require you to draft another mail room on the next day, vs that one where its guaranteed to be on the top of the steps.

puzzle game

but also multiple layers of luck involved so even if you figure out the solution you may or may not get the chance to even attempt it

This game fucking blows man. This is one of those games that makes me wonder how it was possible during all the hours of playtesting that no one realized it was a boring chore to play

That doesn't sound too crazy. If the game wasn't dogshit, I would've done that eventually (the candles are really obvious), does it at least tell you it's the diary key?

Assume the code to the safe is something to do with the busts thanks to the note

Because there's a queen and a pair of "barons"

"Flight of the queen" means go north from her maybe

Turns out you just had to rng find the solution in a different room

What a gay game

file.png - 549x434, 397.77K

I would pick freight just to see what it is, but if nothing, I would pick No Contact.

Same Day is a meme since there's no guarantee you'll make it to 8 because of Gem/Key cucking.
Freight Shipping is easily forgotten about.
No Contact is very convenient because you don't have to spend a room slot on a dead end.

Yes. But getting her room and having either coat check+all the other shit in the same run is several layers of RNG. Her room only spawning on west wing is already annoying

Pretty sure Mail Room is guaranteed to be redrawn when it has a delivery for you.

???
Its March of the Count in the book

03 month
3 counts on the walls so 03
0303

My biggest issue with puzzle games in general. While you’re sitting there trying to solve something, it turns out the answer simply wasn’t there.

I would coat check the candle lighter when possible, then all you need is a run where you get a coat check and a tomb. Then you can just put the key in the coat check.

Something like boiler into experiment room is miles worse.

Yeah probably, but 0 keys. The day is over now.

Couldn't you just get like some crazy starting allowance form this?
the only issue with that, is I have the power hammer in storage for when I get green house and secret garden. 3 items vs 2 items. I already busted the entrance to the basement with power hammer but I want to know what those other rooms lead to.

Unlike other places of Allowance I've seen, this one doesn't say permanent, so I'm not sure.
Nonetheless, try to break the game as much as possible.

Is there like a button I have to press to submit this?
I don't wanna just throw this run away.

Untitled.png - 346x322, 200.79K

There are two valves on the ground nearby to spin if that is the secret garden

Yeah, I spun them and it's not doing anything with the right configuration.

Well if you put them both north so its facing the moon, the moon rotating around revealing a lever

I'm convinced the dev has connections to the journos or the tribe

I just open a random box.
33% chance.
It is what it is.

I just open the right box. 100% chance.

The poem in the clock tower was irrelevant, you just make them all point West

I don't even fucking know anymore, man.

>Turns out you just had to rng find the solution in a different room

sums up whole game

Jews are shameless

11 minus 13

-2

-2 times 3 = -6

Okay what am I missing cause the answer ended up being "14" when I just clicked random shit.

dumb.jpg - 2058x1885, 477.64K

I’ve never seen someone with such consistent dogshit taste as Jason Schreier

If i don't get a boiler room next to a pump room (which requires a pool room to even exist) soon i'm going to kill someone

Order of operations here is "in the order they appear." Not PEDMA or PEMDAS or whatever the fuck.

Yeah, which is why I did subtraction first. The order is on the side of the darts, but day 20 something I've never had to RNG guess which the answer was.

...oh. literally just reach the basement from foundation and the game is basically done since the puzzles are self contained. 90% of the puzzles in this game are irrelevant and are just for lore I guess. maybe there's some hidden ending for collecting all the envelops but I'm not really interested in continuing.

red party is the ruling party and is BAD WRONG EVIL

your mom (and the rest of your side of the family) were revolutionaries/against the government and blue

over the course of the challenge you see your mother and family for who they truly were and join the blue cause

46.jpg - 2562x1330, 419.64K

Honestly I don't really care about the story, the way it's presented is really fucking boring. I'm even enjoying the rngfest more.

trump and biden

I expect this from the king of jews but I've seen random journos from my country saying similar stuff. They 100% got a different version of the game with less padding, no other explanation

"in the order they appear.

uh? it's always been pedmas whatever

Okay, lemme rephrase.
The ones closest to the middle first.

Under no circumstances will I be buying a game with "movement points."

huh, how the fuck did I get to day 21 and not realize that. I was just doing Addition->Subtraction->Multiply->Division and it was fine

The more often you pick billiards and the box puzzle room the more difficult the puzzles become.
In the case of the darts puzzle that means the operations don't just show up in the add/subtract/multiply/divide order anymore. You have to look at the colours now and solve from the center out.

you edited this to make it nonsensical

dart maths puzzle is starting to use squared negative numbers

stop

just give me the fucking keys instead of wasting my time

No refunds.

No I was just doing it wrong. The answer was 11 times 3 minus 13=20.

Yeah it gets worse, at some point it changes the order of operations and assumes you remembered the operation colours like this guy has to

game is somewhat fun for the first 2 hours while you still figure out the mechanics and discover new things

you only realise just how big of an RNGfest this game is around the 5 hour mark, past the refund period

I'm convinced the game dev is a jew.

oooooooooooooooh wait the colours mix up their placement im still early game

I just pirate games and buy them later if they are good, 2 hours is not enough to see anything in any game. And yes he is.

does someone actually show up and start spooking you/stealing items like in the third fortune teller cutscene or is the cutscene purely to make you feel unsettled and nothing actually happens?

i'm tired of running through the rooms so i don't mind being spoiled

Jesus fucking christ finally an insane item to make the lab/boiler room puzzle easier by making them super common.

Jason Shillerer says he has over 140 hours in the game lol
He's running a full shill campaign in his comments. Apparently the real game begins once you find the clue in the study, some kind of puzzle that involves all rooms. What is in the study?

Huh? Is this just an item for the blind?

2342342341.png - 1308x868, 619.52K

i made it to day 25 and i literally never saw this item ever, except for as an option in the trading post one (1) single time

Same goes for the Hall Pass, Battery and Prism Key

third fortune teller cutscene

There is more than one? Every single cutscene in this game has been such a waste of time and is so fucking drawn out that when I input a coin the second time and he started babbling I assumed it was the same and skipped it.

I really hope you're joking.

The secret ending is the JAW-DROPPING reveal that the republicans/monarchy were EVIL

What an incredible twist

I finished the game and I didn't even know that the hall pass and prism key existed.

you need it in order to find the code to unlock the apple orchard and to be able to actually read some other small text/details.

Game takes place in Reddington

Reddington

Reddit

You can't make this shit up

Whats in the study?

me :D

"Orange man bad"

Leftists celebrate it as GOTY

Checks out.

No. There are many hidden sentences and illustrations which you can ONLY see with the magnifying glass.
For example: the scribbled out computer password in the security room is readable with it.

2nd time is actually pretty important because it tells you about the red letters AND the Paintings.
The third one is fucking weird, not sure if it was anything or not.

The study puzzle is just the "look at the pictures in every room to piece together a sentence that's mostly useless as a hint for accessing some of the safes".

It's a cool puzzle to do, but the reward is a joke, and the puzzle is only cool if you solve it from the study. There are other places, like the fortune teller, that outright tell you the answer and make it gay and lame.

I got it from the toolshed outside so who knows which places have higher chance of what.
The puzzle that involves all rooms are the paintings and chess board. The paintings just tell you that there are 8 safes unlocked by 8 dates. The chess board requires you to draft specific rooms that have pawn, knight etc inside of them all in the same run and then go underground.

Jonathan Blow must fucking hate this game, doing a puzzle and then just keep asking the player to solve the same puzzle over and over without meaningfull evolution? What a shit game

You find out that every room has a pair of paintings, and that they're not random. If you compare the two of them:

face vs ace -> f

paint vs pint -> a

You get a letter. The 9x5 grid spells some kind of sentence.

Couldn't have been that important considering you don't need them to finish the game apparently.

Oh that's what the classroom paintings meant.

chess board

That's just for the safe in the room. The actual chess puzzle is underground, after you get the 4 flames lit.

There are like 10 different fucking hints for the darts puzzle LMAO

More letters

Oh god.

Untitled.png - 863x370, 332.29K

Did you not read the whole comment? Yeah I know the chess board is underground, cause I just remembered I didn't power this dumb ass door last time I got a boiler room.

red.jpg - 1993x1509, 295.6K

Did people really not just brute force it? Took me 2 tries to realise you could click on the numbers, I guess. Thought it was just "blue 19" as like a puzzle or something until I saw the number changed the second time through.

Oh, I thought you said the study, I'm retarded.

Does anyone know if this stays open once I flip the switch? Cause interesting enough you can flip the switch back again to shut the door off. I wonder if there is a longer puzzle where you need to re-close the door

Postsike this that try to downplay conspiracy just adds fuel to the fire lol

I'm done with this rngfest. I'll just watch an ending video if I ever find one.
Nobody uploaded one yet

And then I only got 1 letter out of it because Nursery doesn't count despite having the symbol.
Ah well.

getting filtered by baby's first puzzle game

KEK

Don't bother anon, it's nothing.

It does not. The entire game is hoping rng gives you exactly what you need and otherwise wasting 15 to 30 minutes per run.

getting filtered by baby's first gambling game

there, fixed it for you

So everyday I need to run outside and get that, then go down the foundation to the basement and enter from that way to run to the end and get the flip switched? Losing nearly the entire steps the Orchard gives.

Lol really, that's what got them so exited?
Puzzle game has puzzles, wow

Reading through this thread, all the grievances were apparent after playing the demo. Play more demos and save your dollars.

Yes.

Play more demos and save your dollars.

You talk as if people aren't pirating before buying.
...wait, you guys didn't actually buy the game right? Right? ...guys?

Why would I play a demo when I can pirate the full game and treat it like a demo?

I'll buy the game if I like it. Which I've done exactly 1 time in 20+ years of this philosophy.

I hate slot machines.

Oy vey you don't have enough gems to enter the coin cutting room, goy!
Another restart for you!

Which I've done exactly 1 time in 20+ years of this philosophy.

Only once? What game was that?
For me, it was Signalis, Minds Beneath Us, ASTLIBRA and Noita.

Void Stranger, after playing it for 20 hours. Then I played it for another 40.

3 divided by 1 is 3

3 times 1 is 3

3 minus 4 is -1

I fucking hate when they start changing how math works for their little puzzle games.
Even if you follow the other way, the answer is the same but not negative.

numbas.jpg - 1855x1765, 405.26K

It's colors, not position (that's just order). 20/1*1-4=16.

what

the process in the picture you posted is 20 divided by 1 (20), then multiplied by 1 (still 20), then subtract 4, so you need to press 16
