OLED is the most important upgrade you can make to your gaming PC in 2025.
OLED is the most important upgrade you can make to your gaming PC in 2025
Burn in
VRR flicker
Retarded price
Sure thing blud. Still rocking on my 1080p 60hz LCD.
I wanted an 40" LCD monitor but they seemingly don't make them anymore.
I got a QLED tv instead, I just wanted to avoid OLED like the plague
They are cheap now
I don't know much about monitors so can someone spoonfeed me what the best options are? I hear a lot negative things about all types of monitors
I suggest you go to actual tech forums and ask there. If you haven't noticed, Anon Babble is all about coping about not being able to upgrade their shit
I just got an OLED monitor and im kinda shocked at how damn thin it is
This fucker is as thin as a pane of glass. It IS a pane of glass. The hell?
The actual OLED itself is literally a sheet of plastic
Why am I seeing so much monitor shilling?
Nah once I finish KC2 I'm putting an axe through my gaming pc and never playing any games again. Going to take up fishing in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter. Catch you later, faggots.
Retailers need to clear their old stock before new ones come out.
Also they need to sell their shit fast before tariffs kill consumers demand and budget.
Better to wait for Sonys RGB tandem Oled killer next year
fuckin technology
Is right OLED? I can't tell
Tariffs, Tariffs, Tariffs!
Well gee, if you love Tariffs so much I should just call you "Jack Tariff"!.
This board is mostly poor brown kids they wont get to appreciate OLED for another decade.
I'm sure they play their vidya on their OLED phones just fine. Only actual dumbass buy TVs and monitors nowadays.
The monitor on the right looks oversaturated
blud
This tells me I should get one.
Falling for shills' reverse psychology tricks.
Please don't be dumb like that.
how oled BROKE me
thumbnail of gasping faggot
That's a TV not a monitor you retard
bruh I dont need a new GPU I can run all games on high for 60 fps
bruh lmaoooo wireless mouse or keyboard, wired ones are better because I still play with one
bruh 165hz lmao human eyes I still game with ny 60hz fullHD
bruh OLED looool my LCD is the same thing
Lets be real, you cant trust a NEET when it comes to technology. It's all poor man's cope here
You should have seen the thread of people posting their monitor setups and it was all like 24" 1080p LED shit kek. Most of Anon Babble is poor and brown. Probably plays shit like apex legends or LoL only. They don't actually play new games.
nobody plays on PC in 2025.
I'm still fine with my 1600x900 20" LCD, which looks clear as fuck compared to anything else I've ever seen. I'd buy a new larger one if these kinds of monitors even existed anymore.
It's crazy how many toaster users will never experience the fidelity the first time they experience so many games, sad, but they seem happy with 8bit toaster exclusive slop.
Why do trannies like OLED so much?
can see the difference on my 20 year old TN panel
hmm... how curious...
Link to monitor please
OP made the thread about a gaming PC. Your retarded comment is unnecessary. Oh and LG make better OLEDs
PC niggers just starting to upgrade to OLED.
Meanwhile my series x has been on OLED since 2020
my parents bought an OLED TV from LG four years ago. by now all the edges have dead pixels. the center of the screen has lost like half of its brightness. colors are faded. this was one of the higher end models too, expensive one and well-reviewed. also there is noticeable burn-in of TV channel logos
never buy OLED, ever, unless you change out monitors every 2-3 years.
LG makes sonys panels, sans sony processing, for an inferior display, kek.
Because of the blacks.
I've been using my living room OLED TV as a monitor for a good 8 years now
im still waiting for good oled ultrawide
I don't care for it similarly to how I never cared for plasma displays. Any chance of burn in makes it not worth getting because the worry of it ever happening will live rent free in my mind.
I'll wait for microLED. It's the ultimate display technology.
name?
Shan't use OLED for a computer. Computers have too many static images and you have to refresh the pixels every few hours. IPS just werks
You cant play quality games from bygone era anymore, like swat 4 or crysis, so there is no compelling reason to upgrade pc anymore (id buy 9950x3D for planetside 2 and music alone, if a good setup didnt cost 3k, but 5700x3d with 7900xtx works just as fine for now). Gaming is dead hobby, normies and consoles killed it
EVERY OLED MONITOR HAS FUCKING AG COATING AND SCREEN DOOR EFFECT.
There are no good glossy monitors. And the glossy OLED monitors from asus have the shitty screen door effect.
Since Apple are the only ones who make glossy displays without the screen door effect I got a 4k lg apple IPS monitor.
Also there are no 4k 24 inch OLED monitors so all the current OLED monitors look like dogshit compared to my high PPI 24 inch apple monitor. Its like 183 ppi vs 100
There are plenty of quality games still getting made. You just don't play games anymore. Probably rotate through the same 5 games instead of trying new ones. Or maybe you get all your info about new releases from Anon Babble and it kills your desire.
implying I need eye-bleeding color
I literally run a TN monitor with Brightness at 10% and contrast at 15%
And f.lux on top of it
+
choppy low for lower framerates for movies animes of cinematic framerates
black crush
even some weird black smearing sometimes
low brightness that you have to maxout during the day
trvke
uh oh it's not, sweaty
it's AI and 16 times the frames in your GPU that's important so make sure to buy multiple cards to save.
What's a good 22-24 inch 1080p monitor?
I looked into the aoc 24G4 but people are saying they're getting line issues within a year whereas my current monitor is going strong 14 years after purchasing it
retard
Btw how much better is it to go above 60 Hz with variable rate?
Cramming 8 million pixels into 24" is retarded.
Dont believe the shills. You dont need more than 60hz
High PPI text is much easier to read. Much less eye strain. Its like reading text on a book
Gateway HX2000
Much bettter, people will say you won't notice a difference but it's absolutely smoother and input lag is much lower
Huh? You'd have to scale your windows to like 200%+ to make anything legible on that size.
Do you realise how much it would cost to make a 4K OLED that small?
It's also extremely bad for longevity
I've had an OLED tv for ages. And no i still want micro-LED. I'm more annoyed that no one has been putting out mini LED competitors in the high end recently. I don't want OLED for my gaming monitor knowing it's weakness of VRR flicker.
Windows works fine at 200 percent scaling.
In fact it auto detected it for the 4k monitor. My eyes don't hurt anymore.
No I actually know what I'm talking about. The closure of westwood and other good studios sealed the fate of gaming. Certain games (like Dungeon Keeper 3, Freespace 3, Freelancer 2) will never, ever be made anymore, and entire RTS genre is AoE2 now. You're posting from ignorance because you grew up playing x360 consolied UE3 slop games. Let me guess, you liked Skyrim too.
Not an issue anymore
Never was an issue
Lmao you're poor
Burn in
why are people still scared of this shit?
people have already done extreme torture burn in tests and pretty much proved that you have to try really fucking hard to actually start seeing issues.
im talking your monitor on full brightness and a static image on for literal weeks on end with all safety features turned off.
nobody actually does this.
If it's a non-issues then how come there exists prevention methods for it in the first place? That's like claiming the niggers in your neighborhood are friendly while you equip your house with barbed wires, 24/7 surveillance cameras and a loaded armoury.
based an ppi-pilled. apple already figured out the optimal resolutions for each screen size.
the best thing you can get is an oled, but they are expensive as fuck and can degrade pretty fast. Honestly, for 1/3 of the price you can get a good miniled panel which its also very good, it really depends on your budget
I use my lg oled c2 and its not that much better than my ips.
cool
how will it improve gameplay?
My last phone had google maps burned in real bad, whether monitors have effective protections for it or not I'm still gonna be worried about it and I'd rather not
You must only be playing video games, and not using your PC for anything else, because there are many productivity programs that don't have good scaling. It's the main reason to stay within the 90-100ppi range
The funny thing about burn in is that it's not a matter of if, but when. It's because those things don't burn-in so much as individual LEDs burn OUT, as they have electric charge pumped through them long term and at high intensity
But really, all they need to do is make sure those LEDs are durable enough to last as long as when monitors typically expire in other ways, like a popped capacitor or something
What gameplay? All modern games are movies, you can watch blacker blacks with OLED
theres already a test where using monitor for 8 hours per day with normal desktop apps is enough for burn in after a month
watching movies
gay shit
I know, it's why I don't watch movies or play movie games
name 5 that is not fromslop
1400$
Cheap
You can get a 4k TV for bellow 300$
poorfag
I feel like browsing Anon Babble with its baby blue and beige backgrounds would accelerate burn-in
Its too expensive for tiny cuck monitors at 23 inches
Just cope like and forget about it
God i hate when the consoomer shills start climaxing.
miniled and other oled alternative tech will be so much better, but sadly they're even more expensive than OLED, so we will be stuck with IPS glow/bloom and 1000 contrast ratio for a decade more.
LCDs get burn in as well so its not exclusive to OLEDs
Bravia
Lol
don't bother, this board - as well as most of the internet now are 90% thirdies which couldn't afford one with their entire annual income, all they'll do is convince themselves the grapes are sour
If I want to have 3 or 6 monitor setup for productivity and multi-tasking, 23" 1080p is both the only monitor I can use because of PPI for productivity apps that don't scale well, and also because if you wanna have 3-6 monitors lined up then 23" is perfect side for most desks that are gigantic size. I have a 27" low latency IPS monitor that I can't use, because my cheapo goodwill 23" 3x monitor setup is just so good, that having a larger monitor in center would ruin it and it would fuck up with the FOV as well (since 3x 23" somewhat fits in your field of vision, weirdly enough, if you keep focus in middle). There's no alternative of being able to drag a window from one monitor to another, a single or dual monitor setup don't come close to what 3 or 6 monitor setup is capable of (I'd like to have that 1 extra row of monitors on top, for external devices like video game consoles, xbox switch or ps5, but I haven't gotten around to looking for good arms mounts.. but the potential would be killer, being able to use PC/web browser while playing some vidya on top center monitor, would be killer combo)
Several stress tests assume usage of 8 hrs a day
my PC is on and usually active from when i wake up to when i go to sleep
Just buy a new one from time to time.
You're not a poorfag, anon, right?
NOOOOOO YOU NEED A MONITOR FOR PC STUFF NOT A TV NOOOO ITS GOOD .. UHH ISSUES I THINK? IDK LMAO ITS JUST NOT GOOD
retards still thinking TV's are the same as 2007
Do TVs come with lower than 10ms latency? I thought most of them have 40-60ms latency, and some expensive models have 20-30ms. Basically unusable for anything than 3rd person over the shoulder games. Even racing games feel more alive on low latency high refresh rate, than on a telly with higher latency.
spend $1000+ on a monitor
still have to baby it
"b-but it has a 3 year warranty"
LCD monitors last 10+ years
bro worrying about latency when hes Silver in league
lower than 10ms latency
nigga who tf cares about latency of your monitor when every game in 2025 will use framegen
gaming
i'll stick to crt, thanks.
for all you non-believers, this test stays sharp on crt during movement, unlike your flat tech where every movement is translated into blur. testufo.com
when every game in 2025 will use framegen
You can disable it, and if you overspec your GPU (with AMD gpu of course, because you get high end AMD gpu for same price as Nvidia mid tier costs, ala 7900xtx cheaper than 4070 ti price), you can easily get 144+ frames per second. I've noticed even on my 60hz or 75hz monitors, that as long as I get 80-120fps, even if my monitor isn't showing it, the game runs so much smoother, than if it's 60-65 fps. Having higher fps helps get rid of that "lag" feel, sadly some games are quite CPU bound though so you need to have good CPU too.
that's like 5 years away at least
Just realized it's been 5 years since I got my 1440p 144hz monitor
Shiet. Maybe it's time for an upgrade?
It's fine but I'm always annoyed I have to tinker with the brightness/black levels a tad bit when playing darker games or watching darker content
10-15 years, unless you have $130k to drop on a micro led 120" thats just a bunch of mini led panels daisychained together.
I definitely think you can experience the height of gaming with a basic ass vanilla ass single monitor setup. But nice things are nice, and people saying shit like that are never trying to have the conversation in good faith.
thats awesome man Im sure 720p 20fps madden and cod look awesome on your 4k oled tv with "smart smoothing" enabled
burn in warranty
let cnn run 24/7 after 2 years
get new oled gen for free
shalom
You know why games look better on TV, even if there's 30-50ms input lag?
The PPI is even lower than 90. WHOA
hmm
1440p 120+Hz is a great sweetspot for general use
only degenerates or mega poors go for 1080, since 1440p monitors are very cheap now (the aliexpress ktc one is about 100 bucks, I use it as second monitor)
4k is expensive, and you fell like you're missing out if you don't take a QD-OLED 4k, but if you get one of those and know you'll use it with hdr games and movies then it's the ultimate option
I have an LG OLED TV that I bought on sale and it looks great but it's only 60 hz.
I'm not gonna upgrade unless it breaks. I'll wait for QDEL or MicroLED to get monitors made
If you have a cheap as shit LCD monitor you haven't upgraded in years or there's a good deal on one then I'd definitely recommend upgrading to OLED but it's not 100% necessary
Shut the fuick iu[ retard/ I meant a new 1440p moni
then get that you retard
literally what I did a few weeks ago
playing on some small monitor instead on your entire wall via a cheap 150 bucks projector that lasts 100k hours
what fucking year is this? are you retarded in your brain?
you're dumb as hell. kill yourself
wall
cheap projector
That is the stupidest idea ever. I'm pretty sure even expensive projectors on expensive projector screens isn't good for gaming in terms of image quality, frame rate, and input lag
well you are wrong
There is a fix for VRR flicker, but burn-in is unfixable.
Have two-monitor setup
replace one monitor with OLED
Now have intermittently one-monitor or two-monitor setup depending on when i want to play vidya and turn the OLED display on
the idea feels rather annoying tee bee haytch
isn't vrr flicker the same fake illness garbage as """pwm -sensitive""" people complaining about "pwm flicker"
just got one 2 days ago. huge difference. Much more expensive though so it can only be viewed as frivolous
its part of the oled technology
if you suddenly go from 150 fps to 50 then oled with vrr will show brightness fluctuations. It shows more easily in dark scenes.
The reality is it doesnt happen that often that you need to seriously care about it, and the fix is having more stable fps. Some monitors deal with it by having a cut off point for VRR so the monitor goes out of vrr at a higher fps to minimize flicker.
Yes, the fix is not using VRR. So fuck that, it's flawed trash. An IPS panel is a better investment since you're not getting tearing when you're just playing your singleplayer games like normally.
>Just realized it's been 5 years since I got my 1440p 144hz monitor
that is literally exactly what I had, and I upgraded 2 days ago. a 32'' 2020 ultra gear with 144hz
Got this as a replacement
3 monitor setup is too comfy tho, and it doesn't look like they're making 23" oleds
selecting picrel size range limits oled monitors completely out
My 3 monitors setup is just two ips/LCD monitors for daily usage and my LG C2 TV for gayming, which is off most of the time until I need to play vidya.
What happened to Asus's PG32UQXE? they should have at released 1 mini LED premium monitor by now instead of allowing OLEDs to take up the whole market.
Same reason why there haven't been a cure for cancer already. The treatment brings more money than selling the cure. Planned obsolescence is something monitor makers want and gamers have accepted it like the good goyim they are.
