Servant Sacrifice is handy but I wouldn't rely on it since it's treated like an attack with low accuracy to proc the instant kill. You really need to topple the enemy first then use it to Instagib someone. It does however instantly give you max TP with the quick cooldown.

The main thing you want to consider with skells is the Overdrive effect of each one. Also you usually just want big unga damage art then other arts that boost it and ones that give element down. I put the mech damage up swords on mine too because you have to fight so many mech enemies in the skell especially in Cauldros

2 is really the only entry with a bad EN dub, and that was allegedly only due to it being rushed to hell.

Combat wise, XBC2 starts out the worst in the series, but eventually it gets better and becomes pretty fun. But it's a fucking slog to get to the good stuff. I definitely recommend prioritizing the unlocks that let you start battles with Arts off of cooldown, and there's a weird movement trick that lets you kinda move while auto-attacking. Those 2 things will at least get the combat back to be on par with XBC1 combat.
In terms of voice acting, characters, writing, and tropes, it stays consistently bad throughout the whole game. The last couple of chapters are decent though, once you reach the World Tree it turns pretty good but you're basically at the ending by that point.

Nia's voice is good but Rex and Pyra, the two main characters, are god awful voice acting.

You NEED to autistically fusion combo stack and animation cancel so you oneshot enemies. Watch 20 Enel guides to learn how to do so. This is the optimal (and only) way to enjoy the masterpiece that is Xenoblade 2.

2's main problem is that its tutorials are awful. It seems tedious and boring to play because the game has not told you how it's actually meant to be played.

It's really good but a lot of the battle mechanics are obtuse to figure out without looking them up. Some thing to keep in mind is getting the art cancel skill ASAP as well as the skill that gives you full cooldown at the start of battle. It makes battles flow much quicker. Later on you get more blade slots so you're constantly changing and reseting your bar so you basically get a full pallet. Auto attack resets whenever you move so you can quickly build meter by moving after each first hit (the trade off is usually arts get better damage scaling on the last hit of an auto-attack animation).

Rex's voice acting is meh but later characters are really good, particularly Malos and Amalthus.

The English voices are god awful and game ruining and anyone who says otherwise is baiting or trolling. The game is hard to get into but can become fun later on. The biggest thing people do wrong is prioritizing putting every rare blade they get onto characters. The common blades are also useful and can be stronger than many of the rare blades. If you really want your hand held, try to put driver combo arts (break, topple, launch, smash) onto your characters as early as you can. Having the combo makes the combat much quicker and more fun.

Remakes typically don't sell well yet this beat the Wii U version. Nintendo needs a marquee JRPG franchise to support its hardware but doesn't care too much about the sales plus MonolithSoft is so important to support other Nintendo games
Monolithsoft is actually in a pretty enviable spot to do whatever they want with a decent budget unlike other struggling third party JRPG developers.

It's Mute. It's actually a very strong debuff and unlike Control will affect some bosses but it's a little annoying to use and there are better ways to cripple enemies. Blackout drops ranged damage instead but enemies rarely resist it and with the super easy to craft extender augs you can cripple enemy range damage that way much easier.

Combat was as enjoyable as X, if not more at times.

Only issue is that 100% unironically you want to look up shit, the game does a very terrible job at explaining its mechanics, including some skills descriptions and things like hidden damage ratios for blade specials. There is a lot to take in, but it's better earlier than later.
Don't listen to the slow complaints though, you can speed it up easily enough with these cakes you buy in Argentum + stutter stepping. If you are falling behind in terms of DPS, keep in mind it's actually better to focus on fewer blades and just pull one well-timed combo, avoid orb stacking unless you literally cannot inflict Break.

i still don’t know how that weird elemental special mode with the flow charts work and I beat the game. Though I could tell I was doing something wrong because it took ages to do enough damage to kill anything.

Each Xenoblade game takes around 80 hours to beat on a casual first playthrough, around 120 hours if you're autistic about sidecontent. 100%ing them varries, but for me, 2 and X are the longest to 100% (100%ing 2 is luck-dependant because of the gacha odds, but it took me around 250/300 hours, including the DLC content).

It's not as long as you think. Mechonis is basically a big dungeon rather than a new set of locations, and the endgame areas are even smaller.

Oh, it's my 2nd fave after XCX because of the sheer sense of adventure and hype from the very beginning which barely lets up. It's a lively, colourful and involving world which makes you care about it, which is something that XC1 and XCX did to some degree, but XC3, for some reason, felt obliged to make me hate the world I was in by restricting my frontiering nature (FUCK YOU TAION) and making the map little more than a series of "stomachs" with how I was squeezed from one sphincter into the next next stage of the game's digestive system. And when you get to the vast open are of Cadensia, you're expected to explore it blind with a vehicle that controls worse than a level 20 Skell in vehicle mode. What the hell happened there.

I'm so glad XCX is getting a wider audience, if only to show what we could have going forward.

There's been a "Van"somethingorother in every Xeno game since gears, though Xenoblade has opted for Vandham (which was localized as "Vangarre" by NoE in XC1 for god knows what reason.
The Vandhams of each game don't really have anything to do with one-another beside sharing a name and usually being gruff, older military dudes with signature facial hair, scars or both, though the Vandhams of Xenoblade 2 and 3 also shared the same voice actor.

do a lv1 special(or higher) with the first blade of the corresponding element, then a lv2 one(or higher) with the other element, then a lv3(or lv4, only available on the playable character) for a finisher

That's it. The blades involved in a blade combo don't have to be 3, you can do everything by yourself if you wish to.

Now that aside, while blade combos are easy enough to use you only really start seeing big numbers from them if you are making use of the fusion combo mechanics.
I would suggest looking that up, it's a huge knowledge check that will save you the trouble of trying to do endless combos on the same enemy instead of just maximizing damage in one or two, and more importantly you can do it with very few blades equipped in your party.

If you want to build a skell I'd recommend picking an element type or two and focus on building the skell around that, it'll narrow down your options and help prevent choice paralysis while you figure out skell building.

You don't have to use it and you can still shit all over superbosses, on ground and in skells.
At some point there is hardly any reason to do more damage unless you want to play nemesis for score.
