HB is fantastic both as a toppler (the best other than you) and TP battery. But if I were running the stock longsword, dual guns, hercules blow build, I'd go with Al, Mia, and Elma. You want Al for Howling Soul unless you want to use sniper rifle yourself, and since this isn't blossom dance, you want someone with ether rest down. It's not going to be Doug or Hope, so it's Celica or Mia. Mia has Tactical Analyst and she has Gravity Blast too for an extra bit of damage + no concern for accuracy at all on anything that isn't topple immune, so I'd take her over Celica.
Elma would just be to keep the others alive long enough for them to do their jobs. In this scenario, you're presumably running a free overdrive set, so you're actually the party's tp battery. Though you should still give Al grand procession too.
For an EBD set, absolutely bring HB. Irina too.

X Chapter 13 is not a standalone campaign. Playing it before 2 would spoil 2's Chapter 10. But playing it after Future Redeemed means you miss the radio saying "Project Exodus" and "Earthlife Colonization Project."

Actually, Chapter 13 is even more reason to play X before Future Redeemed. It's better to see Ares Prime before the Founders' Interlink, and White Whale 2's destination before Future Redeemed's post-credits shot.

Chapter 13 made it clear that Void was fucking around with the Conduit, not that he manufactured it. He distilled some of its power to create the Ares cores, since the Conduit has infinite power I guess that means each core has infinite reserves but not as "infinite" as the actual thing

I want the blade elements(light, dark, water) from 2 to come in play again, I want classes to be relevant and party members to be essential in gameplay, I want 3-4 party members at most, I want more open exploration, but I'm not opposed to skill checks blocking areas if it's done properly, I want them to figure out a way to balance skells so it never feels like it's much worse or better than ground combat.

My idea is this:

It's different conduits in that a conduit is a gateway/door to the same dimension. Different lights meaning different doorways. Or perhaps the doorway only opens under certain conditions and it's always 1 opening across universes. Either way, it's all connected and what's inside is the nexus point for all universes.
Both Shulk and co. (Uroboros stone) and the Samaarians (Void with the Ares) invented the same technology that tap into the Conduit's power.
It'll be sort of like a Star Ocean 3 deal where if technology advances too far and troubles whatever's through the Conduit, the Ghosts show up to destroy whatever is accessing the Conduit's power.
