Silent Hill 1 - Cool lore, non existent plot, godawful gameplay and lackluster music does nothing better than Resident Evil 2-3 or Parasite Eve from the same console.
Silent Hill 2 - Great acting performances that elevate a otherwise decent plagarism of Lynch's masterpiece Lost Highway
Silent Hill 3 - Completely bland as white bread, has great gameplay but repetitive linear hallways with not a single memorable moment or character at all.

The magic system in Eternal Darkness was incredible. It's never been replicated tho some have gotten close.
Resident Evil 2 is just a lite Dino Crisis 2, basically an action game that doesn't go all in on the action. If you think about it Dino Crisis 2 is a more bold game and really the only innovation in the PSX era of static camera slop. You had Silent Hill, Chase the Express, Parasite Eve and RE games of course, and the combat was jank as fuck in all of them, including the first Dino Crisis.
Silent Hill 4 is a 6/10 game with GOAT tier highs and plenty of them too and abhorrent dogshit lows and plenty of those as well

Based Fatal Frame enjoyer. The first game still holds up atmosphere-wise—nothing like being alone in that creepy-ass mansion with just a camera. Shame it never got the mainstream love it deserved, but I guess that's part of the charm.

I'm nearly done with beating Silent Hill 1 for what must be the 15th time if not more and noticed I have way more shotty and rifle ammo than pistol rounds, a true staple of late game Resident Evils
also I'll reiterate what an another anon said earlier today: fuck the sewers, I don't find them spook but some of the enemy placements there are annoying and more than once I got into dead ends, turned around and noticed a pack of 3 monsters almost cornered me while another one was hitting me from the ceiling
