Mass Effect has guns. Guns are cool. All the popular games have guns. Dragon Age doesn't have guns. The popular games that don't have guns don't count.

Considering how many issues they had with the Frostbite Engine even back during Inquisition, that isn't surprising at all. Makes it easier for them to look for contractors too, since they don't have to spend time teaching them how to use their proprietary engine.

Only Origins was good, while arguments can be made for the Mass Effect sequels. Them being a relatively tight trilogy builds hype by having an audience already invested in the main character, while Dragon Age jumps around and tried something different (and bad) each time. I'm sure Gaider would like to think it's bias, but it's the appropriate reaction to the quality and appeal of the product.
Complete industrsy crash is the only way to move foreward. Shoot every game journo on sight, hang every game developer. Let it all burn down so that a new better vidya can rise from the ashes
I would add that DA2/ME2 was the inflection point for both series. Mass Effect successfully adapted to modern trends with its gameplay formula while generally retaining narrative quality. Dragon Age 2 was a sad dog turd of a game and its writing was right there with it. Of course the series was under greater scrutiny after that.

As others have said for years, Origins was the only good game. DA2 sucked balls and I never played Inquisition once I saw the slightest hint of "woke" (as it's called nowadays) shit in the promotional material. And obviously never played Veilguard either.
Going to an entirely different place and barely involving characters from previous games while focusing on a "new protagonist with a new story to tell" (gay) was a colossal failure.
Fuck Dragon Age, but god damn do I love Origins, what a fantastic game, I miss those days when I would just play it over and over again as some autistic virgin teenager.
At the time Mass Effect was popping off, sci-fi franchises were doing well, and we were in the height of the "death" of CRPG's and a burgeoning fantasy fatigue from all the post-lotr shit flooding the market. Mass Effect was poised and advertised as the next big sci-fi franchise and EA genuinely wanted it to fill the void left by the then mostly dormant Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. To them Dragon Age was just a waste of resources.
It's a franchise that constantly demands more resources than it needs and is mired in some stupid controversy every release post Origins. Must be tiring paying journos constantly to prop up bioware's consistent failures with Dragon Age.
