What happened to Silverhand?

I am probably just getting my lore mixed up, but my understanding is thus;

4th Corpo War happens because uh, uhhm

Silverhand wants to dick on Arasaka

Militech hire him and his friends (why would they do this? aren't Militech a big evil corp too?) to fuck on Arasaka

They go in with the nuke, Silverhand wants to find Alt

then, either

Silverhand gets his shit rocked deep in the Arasaka labs by Smasher

or

Silverhand nearly escapes with the gang, but Smasher gets him at the last second and he gets interrogated by the head of Arasaka

do we know which happened? or if neither, what did happen? was silverhand really as retarded and useless as they want us to think he is?

I know there's the whole

muh unreliable narrator

but it seems like they really, really want us to think jonny is just a dumb drunk retard who got lucky when in reality it seems like both fates are basically the same and boil down to smasher being a mad cunt rather than silverhand being shit

holy fuck the captcha waiting time is aids on desktop now? 2 minutes between posts?

Unreliable narrator iirc- 'real' Johnny got his shit rocked regardless, and he got hit with Soulkiller.

He got smashed by Smasher after uploading the virus freeing Alt, then his body was soulkilled and his engram edited to include the failed helicopter escape sequence which was one of Blackhand's memories, who's body must have been soulkilled too.

boil down to smasher being a mad cunt rather than silverhand being shit

Fuckin' this.
It's been said time and time again but both in lore and in the board game smasher is literally just a game over scenarios, like cthulhu being summoned in the lovecraft inspired board games.
There's no shame in being flatlined by that cunt. Anon Babble is the only fucker whos been able to get him and by the end of the game he's basically almost as much of a cyborg as him.

I am sleepy as shit if I really switched V and Anon Babble

one of Blackhand's memories

Oh, that would explain why Blackhand isn't in any of the flashbacks even though he was supposed to be the leader, right?

after uploading the virus freeing alt

I'm retarded, I totally forgot alt was free of arasaka.

So

Team shows up to the tower

Fucks shit up

Manage to free alt (but accidentally send her spiralling into the net, but at least gone from arasaka)

Adam Smasher smashes the fuck out of Silverhand and assumedly Blackhand

Edit Silverhand's memories later

curious why they bothered putting silverhand on the engram at all.

Johnny represents exasperation and total disillusionment with society. He doesn't just hate corps, he hates those who work with them-including just random jobbers trying to get by.

Of course, he was a richfag giga-artist that didn't need to worry about money at basically any point of his life post-war, so he's out of touch. Remember, he "founded" the rockerboy movement which is supposed to just be a bunch of disillusioned pissed off punks who incite rebellion. He isn't the fighter, or the leader, or even necessarily a revolutionary, but was placed in all 3 roles through a combination of both hatred of corps and personal connection to Alt.

How was he engram'd if everything points to him surviving the whole deal in his own body, or a body that "matches his description"?

surviving the whole deal

Well assumedly, he didn't survive at all. Does it suggest anywhere that he did? The closest to "surviving" is surely the fake memory where he gets interrogated by Arasaka post-nuke, at which point they kill him and put him on the engram

Still dunno why they'd bother

I mean Blackhand. Fucker survived.

Ah, I meant

why bother putting johnny on an engram

it doesn't make much sense

But yeah, Blackhand was extremely conspicously absent in 2077. I assume they're saving him for the sequel. Since the sequel will almost definitely be heavily about the rogue AIs and Mr Blue Eyes, I assume Blackhand will either;

be under Arasaka's control

show up midway through the story from fucking nowhere

What happened to Silverhand?

He died shitting and pissing himself to either a random goon or Smasher, the latter probably didn't even know who he was, just squashed him like he'd done many others and moved on.
The whole operation was conducted and led by Blackhand. The game hints at Johnny's construct (and essentially the stuff you see in flashbacks) being full of shit multiple times. Alt mentions this as well as some of his testimonies do not align with what you actually see in some flashbacks, e.g. his relationships with Thompson (the media guy)

They put Johnny on a engram to bait Alt. Alt is obsessed with Johnny hence in the game she only works with you cause of Johnny.

Canon explanation is that Smasher cut him in half with an auto shotgun and Spider was the one who soulkilled him since he was going to die anyway. There is a debate on whether Johnyy even had the nuke or if it was Blackhand but he did go in with the intent to break Alt out of the Arasaka subnet and he did succeed.

from what I understand, the early drafts of CP2077 did have Blackhand in more direct role, but Pondsmith requested to leave him out, because Pondsmith was still actively trying to decide what to do with Morgan and so CDPR complied.

Assumedly he'll have just been out dicking around with nomads or something. Difficult to imagine anywhere he could be where there'd be no records.

I sent Jackie to Viktor's. I didn't realise what would happen.

anon....

Looks like that scene is happening in that big Arasaka boat they kept mentioning in the beginning of the game. Cut content for sure.

what happens? I assumed everyone sends him to mama welles kek

If you send Jackie to Viktor's Clinic, then Arasaka raid the place and take his body. They hit his corpse with soulkiller to try learn about the heist. But since they only hit him with it a good while after he died, the engram is all fucked. Later on, either by siding with Hanako or by destroying Mikoshi, you learn that an engram of Jackie semi-exists but is stuck in a loop of some of his last conversations. V walks away, noting that it isn't really Jackie.

Or, in short. Jackie gets trapped by Soulkiller in the last 24 hours or so of his life.

Assuming he survived the raid, he would have heat from both Arasaka and probably Militech (they still actively deny any role in the Attack) like no one else has seen before, so yeah he would have be pretty deep underground.

Literally a game over scenarios

No he isn't. He's not even a top 10 fighter in the tabletop game

He is. It's stated in the tabletop rulebook.
Are you saying there are characters stronger than him? Who?

this. apart from V, I don't think there's anyone known in-universe who can take him

me

Don't fear the reaper is the most kino ending scenario

Absolutely. I hope they make it the canon ending.

tfw "Focus. You're better than them."

anti-johnnyfags are cucks

why would they do this? aren't Militech a big evil corp too?

Militech and Arasaka hate each other, Johnny is former Militech and he has raided Arasaka before.

>Silverhand gets his shit rocked deep in the Arasaka labs by Smasher

This is what happens, almost nothing you see in the 2020 raid is accurate due to Saka fuckery in Mikoshi, a nuclear bomb going off, and getting soul killed by Spider after getting cut in half by Smasher.

was silverhand really as retarded and useless as they want us to think he is?

He was above average

So the thing about Smasher is that when you are playing with Firestorm Shockwave (the last expansion made for CP2020), anytime the party runs a job that targets Arasaka, there's chance he will smash through a wall or whatever and start unloading. And if the party is low level or undergeared, yeah it's basically a "rocks fall everyone dies" kind of a deal.

But keep in mind, the 2023 Tower Raid is actually the Final Mission of the expansion (and thus the whole Tabletop Game), and it's set up so that no matter what, Smasher is waiting for you on the roof and the party HAS to deal with him, on a fairly tight time limit no less. If he was just some unstoppable force, this whole mission would be pretty pointless.

So yes, it IS possible to kill Smasher in Tabletop games. It's just possible to run into him before your party has a realistic chance against him, or even any chance to run from him, and everyone gets destroyed.

He didn't roll up on Arasaka with his waifu and the Aldecados.

You haven't read the rulebook lol, if you were you wouldn't be saying "he's a cthulhu encounter!!" or other retarded shit, he has stats, and they're not even that good - he's unskilled at everything really, including the martial art *he* invented, he just has high physical stats which btw if a player has a bunch of upgrades they can have better stats than him
He's an encounter intended to be fought as the final battle of a short campaign, where he's meant to be assisted by a ton of arasaka ninjas. If you fight him on his own, he'll easily get smoked by a mid-level party. The DLC that added him also added a bunch of weapons that easily pierce his armour. It's just that shit like Johnny's pistol can't, lol
Lorewise, he's literally a poser. The greatest fighter in the setting is Morgan Blackhand, and the list of top ten fighters doesn't include Adam Smasher, and Blackhand is at the top of it. Smasher desperately *wants* to be Blackhand's rival, but Blackhand doesn't care about him lol

arasaka is such a bad lame name holy shit

it should be noted that anyone who runs Firestorm Shockwave with a party so low level, they can't even run from Smasher is probably a fucking sadist.

Oh you are both mad and retarded.
Fucker didn't even have a stats card originally, and when they finally made one they specifically made him the most overpowered fucking thing ever.
He's literally meant to be the most unstoppable "man" combat-wise both in lore and in the games. You're meant to throw him at players when they're doing too good and it's time to end things. Literally like cthulhu.

Engram is a copy. Real johnny got big bossed and is still alive and acting behind the scenes.
Yeah, so V's imaginary friend is fake and Keanu probably doesnt give a fuck about them at best, or hates them at worst.

most overpowered fucking thing ever

character who is weaker than my endgame cyberpunk 2020 character

364346234.jpg - 973x1280, 119.52K

Nothing. The way they fumbled this character will always be remembered lol. Gotta be the biggest disappointment in the game besides the horrendous launch

He's also weaker than my V

Gee I wonder what's the factor here...

19883214214.png - 374x255, 15.45K

Please reread what I said, CYBERPUNK 2020
As in, my character at the end of a tabletop campaign HAD BETTER STATS THAN HE DOES

it's almost as if Smasher was always intended to be a strong threat, but not just the Neon Future version of Cain who just instantly kills you if you make him mad,
Which is exactly what said.
