Talk about gameplay, characters, story, world, lore, music, graphics, whatever.
Don't talk about consolefaggotry, sales, scores, twitter shit, ecelebs and don't entertain schizos.
Comfy Expedition 33 thread
I am enjoying myself. A lot of the character writing is strong even though I'm not too fan of the story so far. Hope we get some good twists and it doesn't devolve into aliens or killing god or whatever.

Doesn't stopping the paintress fall under killing god
wasnt there an NPC asking for this? i cant for the life of me remember where though and i cant be assed to go and check everywhere
lmao get tooted idiot
i want to her to be part of my life
like not sexually i just want to have her with me
I just want Gustave back man it hurts
I am enjoying the comfy adventure with Maelle and others
Its the dude in the village making the sapakats or whatever they are called
is it just me or is sciel strong as fuck? im half convinced this bitch is stronger overall than maelle and requires less setup holy fuck
nah Maelle is retarded with an endgame build, pretty easy to get near 100% crit chance, easy ways to setup her virtuous attacks on turn one
I find her to be an annoying and overbearing cunt
Sciel probably has higher potential max damage, but she definitely requires more set up + only she can set herself up.
Maelle only needs to switch to the right stance, burning and marks can come from others
Absolutely loving it, but there are some flaws, it's definitely not perfect.
no way to manually save whatsoever outside of faggy equipment and pause menu durdling
some enemy attack timings are completely arbitrary and make no sense, like Elden Ring bosses that literally hold their weapon above their heads for like 4 seconds before slamming them down in a millisecond
fucking UE5 platforming, luckily it's only for some cosmetics
SO IS THE GAME ACTUALLY GOOD? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN GUYS???????
and you can get a pictos that doubles the amount of burn stacks you apply so within 2 moves enemies will take 9,999 damage per move permanently
mask boss trying to force everyone to wear a mask
they just keep bouncing off Monoco's head
I love this dipshit so much
It's very good, no memeing, it's also on gamepass so you could technically play it for only the price of subbing for one month, which would also conveniently get you access to oblivion remastered as well
no manual save so every time I lose to an optional boss I have to do the annoying run back
patch this shit
Game is starting to be a little on the easy side once I got Maelle. Considering I got like 3 levels from killing this thing I assume he was supposed to be done at a higher level but he was easy nonetheless.
So.....do you think devs will make sequel to this considering main plot twist and how story ended?
Painters vs Writers in the real world
if you swap someone's weapon in the menu it forces an autosave when exiting the menu, it's homosexual game design but it's a reliable workaround
welp time for me to leave the threads, hope you fags are still here in a week
the retry button in metaphor spoiled the fuck out of me man holy shit this needs to be the standard for turn based games idc if its "broken"
I'll take it, thanks
is the game "cheap" for anyone else? not sure if it's a regional price but was actually surprised that the game cost less than half the price of the upcoming Doom Game
yeah this is why im not playing this shit. lack of quality of life is always the problem in unreal engine 5 games. no exceptions. oblivion is even fucking guilty of this. the game cant force recompile shaders unless you delete the entire folder including saves and configs.
Reminder Gustave broke off with Sophie because dumb cunt wouldn't put out and be bred
And Maelle is quickly reaching peak fertility levels......
it has a launch promo price of $45 and is free on gamepass.
being Maellicia is suffering
E33 isn't a AAA game so that's the main reason why it's so cheap
Gustave is a little whiny bitch constantly on the verge of killing himself
Meanwhile Vesco is an alpha male that fucks the tomboy, gets matching hairstyles with his best bro, and can literally rip himself in half and become a pair of talking legs
Actually blown away by the music in the game so far. The piano is fantastic
That would be extremely kino
See ya
that chromatic abberation is making me not want to play the game. i know you can disable this probably but dear god i hate unreal engine
mfw Renoir's battle theme
I love this game.
What enemy is that?
Are lumina points returned when you deactivate one, or are you buying it? I’m kind of scared to mess with them before I have some idea of strategy
they return
Chromatic Bruler
I found him once I got out of that water area where you get Maelle.
Sweet I didn’t expect that
game looks ultra blurry
Apparently people were saying that DLAA is broken and that Quality DLSS is actually sharper.
HATE VOLLEYBALL
if you have DLAA on turn it off and enable DLSS quality, DLAA is glitched and doesnt actually render at the resolution you select
Oh, that big guy?
I gave up once I realized you had to dogde/parry perfectly or get one shot, miss me with that
it's like a capacity pool, not a point buy
Cute philosophical pessimist frog
I never used DLAA, I was always using DLSS. game still looks blurry. like 1440p looks like 720p
What's your opinion on VA so far bros? Do they really need to hire all these expensive actors or they should've spend these money on something else like additional polishing?
He's not even that hard just learn the pattern
especially if he keeps doing the jump attack that is easy as FUCK do jump
Before I buy it, I want to know how many blacks the frog devs shoved into it.
Just finished watching a longplay since there's no way I can run this bitch. Good god did the story completely lose me after an incredibly strong start. But I guess that's a JRPG tradition, and it would've had to fall apart ten times worse to compare to something like Chrono Cross.
LUNE FEET
PLEASE LUNE FEET
How many hours can I get out of this game? 10? 20?
do party members still get xp when they're not active?
I shouldn't have clicked on this but it's so obvious it's barely a spoiler
Yes but at a slower rate
For me it's how no one bothers saying anything about Verso and the old man looking literally like Gustave
just a few. its not a big deal
turnbased combat is gay. it should have been real time combat like wuthering waves or stellar blade.
Maelle is so fucking broken she trivializes the game
Sometimes it feels a bit like a hallway simulator, walking animations still look goofy, certain counter timings are fucking bullshit and the game occasionally crashes, but other than that, it's great, and those are just minor flaws.
Unironically GOTY contender
I had high expections for the game and they were exceeded so far.
tsr gives the best quality imo, the other upscalers are probably broken. Intel xess native aa looks like actual smearing grainy shit and worse than tsr on my machine. Better tune all your settings to low-medium if you wanna run this ue5slop in tsr high-ultra high 60fps for that visual clarity
Julien Tiny Head is pushing my shit in god damn
Gustave’s VA in particular did a great job in my opinion.
If gta doesn't release this year I'd call this the game to beat for goty.
The soundtrack should nab every available award too
deluxe edition outfits have fishnets
french cunts know what they're doing
Did you equip the solo abilities you got for beating the other two?
his bait punch is awful
Are you using the pictos you got from the other arena fights? Also what level? I managed it at around 18, though once you learn his timings I suppose that doesn't really matter.
Keep at it anon, soon you will feel like a god parrying all his shit and critting for 10k
Do they really need to hire all these expensive actors or they should've spend these money on something else like additional polishing?
the game's fine as is
Charlie Cox is great as Gustave so I have no complaints
how do i get this item in stone wave cliffs
the publisher paid for the voice actors I believe
well, "publisher," Kepler is more like a developer co-op
Could easily have other games be in other canvases or written worlds. The setting easily allows for that.
Should I be fighting the peaceful white nevrons?
How long is it?
Apologize, hon hon
Do you want to fight them?
I kneel, Louis Phillippe...
there's a lever behind the enemy to the right that opens the door
It's the combo attack(s) that get me any time he just does one attack it's easy
god i didnt see it
thanks anon
I mean normies will definitely vote for GTA but journos can pull up the same shit they did in 2018 and give their votes to something more "mature" than Rockstar game
most reviews are pegging it at about 35 hours for a normal playthrough. it's not as long as an FF game.
I know about virtuose, but then what? I don’t have any skills that do heavy damage even with the bonus
Only if they're cool with it and I don't kill them.
Actually pretty good, the lines come out expressive and natural, some of the better VA work I've seen in a while, and probably because it isn't generic dialogue wheel shit
I kinda feel like holding onto everyones starting weapons and just leveling them, but I somehow doubt they embraced that trope
She has Percee by default if you combine that with the picto that gives her shots a chance to mark you go into Virtuose Stance, shoot to mark, then Percee for huge damage.
Why? Overly she's just semi autistic.
streamable.com
the fact that I keep getting glitches like this trying to platform around invisible walls is the only thing that really betrays this is a euro game, I was expecting way more jank in the base presentation/gameplay. it's rly good so far, feels like they took all the best parts from a half dozen ps360 jrpgs without being married to legacy ideas or being embarassed about being cringe the way a lot of westerners making jrpgs ends up
For me it's how no one bothers saying anything about Verso and the old man looking literally like Gustave
What really bothers me is how they killed Gustave, which has been strongly hinted at since God knows how many months before release, just to instantly replace him with Verso, voiding most of the impact his death had.
Mark. Parcee in virtuose on a marked target is 9,999 damage more or less. Oh and you get a cheevo for proving you have half a brain
What game is this comparable to? How long is it? Worth buying?
30-60 depending on how much side content you do
Sakapatates. Pronounced like "sack uh puhtatuhs" or a childish way of saying sack of potatoes. It's reference to their bag like construction and dubious worth
Final Fantasy but good
Continuer à t'aimer
Continuer de peindre
Tendre la main et t'implorer
Reviens
What game is this comparable to?
final fantasy, like a dragon, paper mario
How long is it?
30-40 hours
Worth buying?
only like 6 hours in but I would say definitely.
What's the best party setup?
Maelle is a given, since she's pic related and hits like a truck, but what about the other two party members?
My Lune is more leveled and gives elemental coverage, but Sciel looks pretty strong on paper. Verso can also dish out quite a bit of damage.
fuck you tiny head BITCH
The only expensive actor here is Andy Serkis while others are literally who from Netflix shit
I found a decent support party for Maelle is just Lune and Gustave
Gustave can pull of marks for cheap if your luck with the picto is shit, and has access to good high hit count for shields/break for stuns
Lune helps by setting up burns or topping up on health
Sciel has great potential as well as access to a cheap mark as well.
Haven't gotten other members yet though
The soundtrack should nab every available award too
fight some Gestral in his goofy Ultimate puppet mecha
music suddenly goes hard as fuck
I really need to look up the soundtrack on Youtube, but there are so many tracks that are so fucking good, it will be hard to find the right one.
Who was responsible for the OST? Because we definitely need more of that.
It's kind of funny how predictable the story's been so far, though I keep hearing about an insane twist at the end of act 2.
I'm not even complaining, since the narrative is competent at least. That's more than a lot of games can say
What level are you? I absolutely obliterated his shit.
16. I already beat him
I played a short while last night, spent 20 minutes dying to the lancelier mini boss dude. Clearly I might be shit, but even fighting Margit in Elden Ring for the first time felt less bullshit than this with his delayed swings, because at least he didn't 1hko you.
All the other elements suck so much compared to fire. Just the 25% crit from burning picto is huge meanwhile the burn itself just does a shitload of damage.
Who was responsible for the OST? Because we definitely need more of that.
Random music teacher that devs picked up on some indie videogames forum
For a long time, I composed video game music in my free time, writing a new track each week in different styles to refine my skills. At the time, I was a guitar teacher, but once a week, I would compose and upload my work to SoundCloud. After a year, I had about fifty tracks online.
One day, I shared one of my compositions on an indie video game forum. That’s when Guillaume Broche, Game Director at Sandfall Interactive, discovered my work. He reached out and asked if I would compose the soundtrack for his game.
That moment marked the beginning of a beautiful collaboration—one that changed my life.
I really wonder how much talent is just languishing out there that will never see their big break because the vidya industry is an incestuous hydra
I think I just beat the game
Give me an example of a plot you considered had a good twist
inb4 tranime slop
Skip him and come back after you beat the boss of the area.
Make an entire village of shitposts
French are based
The amount of corpses in the cave you meet Lune.
How the fuck were there others who made it past there in past expeditions? There was like a thousand corpses in there. 33's groups couldn't have even had 20 people. Were past groups just way bigger?
is there new game plus or superbosses? combat looks fun to be a once and done game
FFX with Mario RPG prompts
I also had trouble with him. Probably like ten tries, but nothing has come close in the three or so hours after
Were past groups just way bigger?
yes
Textured thighs
mmmmm
Most likely the first 20-30 years were pretty big as it would have been peak optimism and population
33 takes place during a stage where they are literally setting things up for "The last generation" of people who will never grow up enough to actually try the expedition
every year more and more people die to the gommage. First few expeditions probably had a full populations worth of fighters since only people like 80 and up were dying and those fucks weren't going on expeditions. Probably wasn't until the first 50 years passed that the generation crunch really started to pick up
More importantly, Lune is just barefooted walking among blood and corpese -_-
Every previous group would have had the oldest generation plus younger volunteers.
And the earliest groups would have had to have a bunch of younger people of various ages because there is no way 90 year olds went alone.
does attacking the jar guy lock me out of anything in the future?
Try it and report back after you finish the game.
Why is she barefoot, tho?
I didn't know Andy Serkis spoke French.
help a monster learn how to play the trumpet without hurting people
then murder him
They know their audience
let’s make our way north
huh?
damnit jacques north not west!
hang on I gotta piss again
The amount of corpses in the cave you meet Lune.
You haven't seen shit yet. Just wait for the remnants of bigger battlefields.
Is 9,999 the hit cap? Kinda wish I could do even fatter crits with Maelle
When will they add an option to turn on an dodge/parry indicator
The story mode doesn't do shit except make the combats braindead
rank bonuses on verso's skills are only active on that specific rank
if you're rank A then you don't activate the skill rank bonuses on B/S/D/C
wtf thats gay.
I cant figure out defense. Early on it seems mathematically better than vit (43->13 taken), expect the cases when it feels like it does fucking nothing.
Speed feels like one of those stats that does nothing until you can get fuckton to avoid double turns.
how to post
cool stoic old man puppet thing
gonna show off how cool he is by destroying a house
fucks up and scatters the group
just sits on a rock crying as the girls wake up
which big bro is better? Gustave or Verso?
fuck lampmaster
best thighs ive seen in a game
Yeah I feel like an indicator would be helpful. I can dodge many attacks really consistently but others timings make no fucking sense.
so is there grinding like in most JRPGs or it's just a git gud or piss off game?
You can get gut but you will probably decide to grind.
sciel is so broken
Sophie's death fucked me up. The music got me good, man.
I desperately want to hug Maelle and tell her everything will be okay
How to fix the combat in this game?
alright Monoco lets cheer these kids up
quick rip me in half
This game isn't super grind friendly so far. Yeah you can rest and respawn enemies, but even normal fights aren't a mindless cakewalk of buttonmashing until numbers go up
This, but I want to undress her while I say it
The Prologue is the first time I actually cried in a game since Nier Automata, and I am pretty sure a big reason for both was because of the music. God bless the lead composer of this game
This game is really good.
the secret francois rematch
genuinely might be the hardest fight in JRPG history
708328879
I won't give you the dignity of a (You)
I'm pretty out of the loop and know nothing about this game other than vague idea of it being a fantasy rpg.
Can I get the Anon Babble summary of it and important info?
I wouldn't be surprised if Taro gives his seal of kino approval to this game
It is a fantasy RPG though. What else you want to know?
cheap in an era where soulless jewish game devs are pushing for 90-100USD price tags on games
actually -10% on steam before and slightly after the release
release the soundtrack for free online
well optimized both in storage weight and running
You can feel this was made with passion and not greed like most big game studios or anything touched by american "art". I personally haven't seen a bug beyond getting stuck somewhere because I jumped over some boundary meanwhile some shit are released near unplayable. Shartfield needed a 3rd party cpu limiter because the game would freeze the pc and they had the backing of microsoft and 10 years for that game.
It would be good if parrying wasn't mandatory.
Anon Babble summary
it has black people, a strong female protagonist, and isn't made by grorious nippon, 0/10
dark fantasy belle epoque setting
gameplay is jrpg with paper mario/like a dragon qte's
a small team of ex-Ubisoft devs reject the dogshit state of vidya, decide to follow their passion of making a game calling back to the golden age of JRPGs, hire a literally who music teacher from an internet forum that apparently has some sort of magic touch, actually write a good story without resorting to Californian modernist soulless writing or gay anime tropes and sprinkle it with a healthy love for their own French culture
big bad will eventually kill all humans
good guys don't want that so go to kill big bad
on the enemies turn, you dodge or get oneshotted
Lune doesn't wear shoes
kino
FUCK THE PAINTRESS!
game has Social Links
This trailer will give you everything you need to know. If you're not sold, then the game is not for you.
I only cried one other time in a game, and that was in MGS4 when you return to Shadow Moses, this scene in particular: youtu.be
I'm about over these enemies that blow themselves up when they die in the red forest
It isn't, you can dodge.
just play it
It's just the same shit
it's INSANE how jank the writing becomes after Act 1, real shame honestly
WTF are the enemies in this game even supposed to be?
dodging has a significantly bigger window and doesn't have the high risk/high reward payoff parrying does.
No it isn't, dodge has a wider window. Dodge has either dodge or perfect dodge, parry only has the latter, higher risk higher reward.
elemental constructs?
The prologue is a masterclass in storytelling and presentation. Everything from the culture of Lumiere to setting up the stakes to character interactions is great.
Another anon pointed out that it avoids too much exposition by refusing to explain key terms like the Gommage and just trusts that you can piece it together while it tells a story
How did they get away with giving Maelle a swimsuit
assault zero to build rank quickly
delaying slash on sciel to prevent the enemy from acting
13 x 9999
nothin personell, paintress
Dub or sub?
Strange creations. Were you expecting just a horse or a bear but with a third eye or something?
daredevil mc? or *laughs in french*?
For a normal human with a normal reaction there is no difference, you need to press the button too quickly in the correct timing, it is very difficult.
expeditions sacrificing thousands to push forward through battlefields
expedition that pushed past them died because they decided to eat a nevron
Old or just mentally impaired?
Hang on, Pierre, I just have to write in my journal how we all ate bad mushrooms and will shit ourselves to death in Esquie's cave
They announced it as a mid tier price, it was a decision they made.
Why make games that require superhuman reactions?
Two things it also sets up if you go around and talk to people, talk to the two orphan brothers in costumes and they'll talk about believing in Gestrals and hoping to go on an expedition to find one when they grow up, immediately establishing that Gestrals are mythic creatures people aren't certain exist (and even that they have a distinctive brush motif), and then there's the sculptor who crafted a statue of Esquie, though people don't seem too interested in it, but it establishes he's some sort of mythic figure but a little obscure now.
Without just turning to the camera and telling you these things. But it gives context to Lune being surprised to meet a Gestral later and eager to see their village, given she's a scholar and just met a fairy tale creature for real.
Just two examples of naturalistic worldbuilding, the biggest thing they do is not directly explain things but rather treat it as though characters already know about them, since they do and it would be odd to explain things they should know well (a common problem with exposition, like when they go "As you know, Superman came from Krypton" to another character which they have no reason to say in the story, it's only for the audience). But the info is all there, you just have to pay attention.
the old man is future gustave huh
Superb. They give very natural performances that enhance the melodramatic nature of the game, by going full earnest with it. Charlie Cox does a great job and given how much dialogue he has he was well worth the money. I haven't seen Serkis's character speak yet but he's a superb actor so I'm sure he does a good job. Everyone else in the game is a VA by trade, they wouldn't have been that pricey even if Ben Starr and Jennifer English's stars have risen thanks to FF16 and BG3, they're still VAs and this is their bread and butter.
i fucked up and did the gestral village tourny as gustave not knowing maelle got an amazing weapon from it
apparently you can get it from fighting golgra 4 times (in 4 different places)
it just says provoking the fight though, do i have to beat golgra 4 times or just fight 4 times, anyone know? and when even are these later steps? i'm assuming much later
I'm in my thirties and don't have the hand eye coordination to play things like fighting games beyond a casual manner, and I'm doing fine. Not amazing, I mistime parries and dodges sometimes, and hit them other times, but I'm getting better and I get the flow of it after facing an enemy for a few turns.
Once you can swim you can go to the high level beach area and grab a picto that gives you 1300 defense and 3 shields at the cost of having half health by kiting the enemies around.
It doesn't.
UE5 slop. The art direction is a mess. Realistic graphics with flamboyant clothing and copycat Persona UI makes no sense. They basically just slapped together a bunch of JRPG tropes and QTEs into UE5.
Forced hype.
all white cast + an asian
Bros...we're so back
I quickly glanced at a couple of screenshots and rushed to make my contrarian babbling
We know
I gave her the Brulerum since it does fire and her whole thing seems to revolve around that and have had no issues so far, what makes this one so good?
How long is the game?
finished act 1
Uhh did I miss stuff or an expeditioner?
I saw some anon talking about a gestral character and saw them in the same party as gustave
Does Maelle make a good tank? She has the skills for it but sometimes devs are retarded and make weird choices for character skills?
thats in act 2
People are saying 40-60 depending on how completionist you are
there are plenty of superbosses scattered around that will clobber you without hesitation, although I don't know if they remain super as you reach endgame
30 hours for main quest, 50-60 hours for main quest + side stuff.
About 30 hours. Shorter if you skip dialogue and side stuff
Sciel is a great mark/heal support and she can go wide easily
Verso for CUHRAZY once he gets the free basic attack weapon
i saw a zoomer edit of this and that one girl looks like a yandere based solely on the edit is she a yandere?
they died so the next wave would know to not eat them or whatever is their moto in english
got obliterated by the mime in the meadows
I'll come back for him later
meet another mime in flying waters
consider leaving him for later too, but might as well try
initially looks like a disaster but I successfully shatter his mime wall with Gustave's overcharge and then Maelle beat his ass into the ground with her super stance
Very satisfying.
Got a cute hairdo for Maelle out of it too.
I want to have sex with Maelle. Just though I'd let you guys know.
love this nigga like you wouldn't believe
holy shit maelle is really damn cute how did they do it, her cutscenes are magical
There's hardly any sexual tension to make anyone a yandere.
you start in virtuose stance
you could probably make it work
really enjoying the build variety available
She's a minor probably
Starts her in Virtuoso, doubles Burn stacks, all Burn damage is doubled in Virtuoso. It just seems like you can build the characters in a variety of ways so there's no real single answer to what is BiS.
Sciel tries to romance Gustave by talking how about people having sex in the cabins back in the days
Gustave goes autism mode and correct her about it being made by expedition 50
Esquie proceed to 9/11 a monster like it's nothing after saying flying is too tiring for him
Absolument Cinéma
Ok so when do we get the porn? Game's on Steam so all the models/assets should be readily available to gooners.
Definitely, she's sixteen aka a fucking hag
screenshots
More like every combat encounter and "exploration" is clashing art styles of default UE5 realism and random Persona UI and gawdy character designs that look completely out of place.
But go ahead and enjoy what your favorite streamer planted in your brain
The variety in outfits and hairstyles is really nice, its a small touch but adds plenty of soul
Yeah just scratching the surface here and it seems like there's a few ways to play each character. I'm gonna stop stressing over it and just go with the flow instead of metafagging.
Out of ten, suddenly, etc.
people say lune is bad and sure she's worse at damage than sciel or maelle but her versatility seems quite good?
Nah she's useless by the end
find Piano in Lumière
music changes if you switch character and the background music gets muted when using it
The piano isn't animated but I liked those touches.
literally the one with a revive
she and Maelle are literal must haves
The more time goes on the more I think that FF16 should have been like this
If they wanted to incorporate action elements into the franchise, the way this game does it is really the best of both worlds and allows for meaningful character building, to say nothing of how cool the world is, something that 16 was lacking immensely
default UE5 realism and random Persona UI
Yeah you already said that.
Well on Fanatical is 20% off while on Steam is still 10%, but even without the discount 50€ is pretty great, is basically what "brand new PC game" price have been for years over here, althought I am playing it through GP, I feel guilty for not having finished or even touched the other RPGs but I want to discuss with you guys and don't want to rush through it when it gets kicked one one year from now.
But the sales and scores are good? Why not talk about them.
Anyway, so far I beat the weird Mime puppet. The women are hot with tight, aristocratic bodies, I like.
Because I don't give a shit about sales.
sun skills always apply 10 foretell
base attack gives 1 moon and consumes all foretell to burnstacks
100% increased burn damage during twilight
this seems fucking nutty. combine it with maelle's skill that makes enemies weak to fire and in 2 turns you've got 10-20 stacks of burn doing 3-4x damage
Do they really need to hire all these expensive actors or they should've spend these money on something else like additional polishing?
Expensive VAs pay for themselves as a form of marketing. Instead of buying ads or paying influencers to play their game, they can add something semi-tangible that will positively impact the players, while simultaneously generating buzz (or Bazz, as I like to call it). The game wouldn't have sold nearly as well as it did without Daredevil and Gollum.
the trivia history quiz was a great way to explain some lore in a organic and condensed way.
Hope most people have done it.
if you've bought a few games on greenmangaming before and get the bigger discount it's 28% off
i forget the requirements but it doesn't take much to unlock the gold tier. it's $40 there normally
How should I build Gustave? I've tried to build Lune and Maelle around each other. Before maelle goes vitruos stance she applies fire weakness for Lune who goes ham with burn so that Maelle can use swift stride and then fleuret fury, but I have no idea what to do with Gustave. Atm he's just my debuff character, woth applying burning and mark.
any porn yet? just got to the second act and its fun
i liked FFrebirth's combat, will i like this?
this game has infinite soul
Paintress seems cute and like she just needs a good dicking
The ONE punch where he baits you at first is so FUCKING infuriating I fall for it every time
cdkeys have a chunky 35%/37% off on standard or deluxe edition
Lemme head down this side path first, don't want to miss anything
AAAAHHHH
gameplay
The combat is boring. Thats the only gameplay. Theres nothing to do in the game
characters
Forgettable mopey cutouts
story
It's fine
world
It's a series of empty maps
lore
Its fine
music
Actually good
graphics
Good for an indie game
6/10. The actual game part is very underwhelming
bikini outfits
gaming is saved
It's paper mario combat. Do you like that?
Her boobies bounce in this too
Woke feminist outfit
Chromatic Lancer was it?
Kb/m or controller type of game?
............
Why does this game deserve goty over Kingdom Come 2?
it's better
Rebirths combat is actually good. The combat in this game is just extremely repetitive
Does Maelle get one or are the Frenchies pretending they didn't know exactly what they were doing when they designed her?
That was hilarious
imagine being the faggots at expedition 66
post playtime
what the fuck are you talking about lmao
she does but its not till way later on
Boy there's one lazy motherfucker trying to "troll" here.
can't wait to get it
How in the actual fuck can that screenshot be considered soul at this point is beyond me. I'd cry shill but I'm starting to believe the majority of this board is slop loving zoomer retards.
I don't want (you)s, leave me alone in my misery.
I don’t get the trick with maelle. So first the target has to be burning, then use swift stride to get in virtuose, then next time around shoot for a 20% chance of mark, then use percee if you have enough AP. The chances are minuscule
Gustave has a 2ap mark skill and Lune has a 2ap burn skill, no need to gamble. Plus with dodge/parry pictos Maelle should be swimming in AP
it's an example of the outfits, retard. anyone who says this game doesn't ooze sovl literally hasn't played it
I think you'll find he's just trying to be as generically negative as possible.
cool arena miyazaki, very soul with a v
GIMME THAT FUCKING HAIRCUT
Troubadour can suck the biggest cock on Earth, Jesus wept what a horrifically awful fight. The tells in this game are genuinely worthless.
Oh shit, I never even unlocked or noticed the mark skill. Also I gave maelle +25% crit on burning enemies, and +2 AP on market targets to benefit from that. Having serious AP issues, so I’ll prioritize that
What role should Gustave fill? Right now he's basically a debuff bitch for me with free aim, but I want him to be more useful.
Sometimes they're obvious. Sometimes they're subtle. Sometimes, like the troubadore, they are completely fucking arbitrary elden ring levels of GOTEM
Cute non-DEI girls
Not standard open world slop
Fun take on turn-based combat
This is what you get when the hacks in Ubisoft leadership don't decide over you
Who here /novitality/? Fuck it we either dodge or parry or fucking die.
My only gripe so far is the music constantly blaring even in cutscenes. Some quieter moments would go a long way. Otherwise solid 9/10 so far, this is Final Fantasy XVII as far as I'm concerned.
mein neger.
MAX MIGHT
MAX AGILITY (STRONGEST STAT IN THE GAME)
MAX LUCK
LET'S FUCKING GO
No tummy
I'll take what I can get, I guess.
I don't know about later on because I barely played it, but I kinda wish I could spec purely on the guns with a character.
I wonder what can you do with guns? You shoot the weak point once then you can use them for flying enemies and shields but what else?
Really? I found it to be sitting on just the right amount, compared to something like Persona, where I love the music and is great how "flaunted" it can be...but to a point, because of course given just how many fights you tend to have in that game, hearing BABY BABY over and over can get quite tiring.
Goddamn i love the french sometimes
pictos for 20% chance to burn and 20% chance to mark, can gamble with your excess ap to try to get mark/burn procs
oh, and shields. they're really useful for breaking shields with a lot of charges, before you get stuff like Breaking Rules on Maelle. i'd still use the gun to break the shield if maelle was in virtuose and needed her ap, plus some other situations
I max luck on everyone, decided to max def for gustave cuz I wanted to see the effect of def
they just haven't found the weapon that gives stains on Free Aim
just vibe it out, don't worry about it too much
without spoilers: how engaging is the story? are the characters cool?
I haven't reached the ending so they might fuck it up with all these mystery boxes but so far it's pretty gripping. And the characters feel like real people which is rare in vidya.
a game calling back to the golden age of JRPGs
Persona 5 is the golden age of RPGs?
Really? I actually find the music to be very subdued, particularly the field themes.
can't wait for the sfms of maulle getting gangbanged by gestrals
I haven’t played the game but Lune or whatever her name is is gigacute
are you retarded? This shit is much closer to the likes of classic final fantasy than P5. A bunch of devs even have FFVIII as one of the favorite games
It's not and no. The beginning is decent but it falls off immediately after the first act and never recovers.
the difference in difficulty between story stuff and optional stuff is wild, i went back to the first area around the gestral village to do optional stuff i missed and some bosses and mimes were brutal
came back to forgotten battlefield and i one shot every trash mob
TOTAL MIME DEATH
Can you fight the pink "sheep" extra boss without having to parry/dodge everything?
neat, hope to find that soon.
That's funny to me, because I couldn't get into FF8's game mechanics.
Yes and yes
It's literally just Persona 5 in Unreal.
are you retarded?
he's shitting on a game he hasn't played. of course he's retarded
those 2 pictos were both really early iirc, like first few hours
you have to explore a LOT in this game i've found, it's really rewarding though since there's literally shit all over the fucking place
another use for the gun is aoe shields, say theres 3 mobs with 2 shield charges each. you can break all of the shields with one character with 6 ap
Chromatic Abbest
Skill issue.
You really need to get a second post bro.
That's pretty high praise and all, but the game is literally nothing like persona. Maybe try playing it before posting about it?
FAGGOT
Bonjour, je t'aime Esquie!
Can you fight the pink "sheep" extra boss without having to parry/dodge everything?
lel, no. i just came back there at like level 28 party and still had to get hit 0 times because everything he does one shot me
i'm all glass cannon, but still. he did like 2-3x my hp with every swing
I've seen the gameplay. It has even the exact same menus.
Maelle is so pretty...
blatant unlimited bladeworks stealing
the french copied japanese yet again
I've seen
Get the fuck outta here.
are the girls insufferable on this?
Not really, Persona 5 doesn't have pseudo-action gameplay mechanics for zoomers, it's entirely turn-based.
everyone who's actually played the game knew it was amazing immediately and has nothing but praise about it
faggots who haven't played it shit on it
it's OLED all over again
I've seen
Told ya
Looks like slop, sounds like slop. French.
the Anon Babble normies will love it.
It does feel very Souls-like at times, e.g. like on that battlefield with the shitloads of corpses, the cheeky way enemies delay their attacks to fuck you over or that one boss we knew from the trailer who's basically the Pontiff.
No they're cute
ah ah, wow, thanks, good to know, that reminds me when going NG+ on Persona 3, with my super party, the Thor persona and getting my ass handed by...what's her name the Velvet room assistant.
I barely started the game but I love how Lune has gone from subdued person who rather study than speak to someone who rises when duty calls it, as much as I loved the intro scene with Gustave and Sophie, I wish she could get with him and I am fairly sure he will just spend the rest of the game "thinken" of Sophie, guess I'll find out playing.
lol at this faggot
buy an ad
>everyone who's actually played the game knew it was amazing immediately and has nothing but praise about it
Go back to resetera. YWNBAW.
Any way to change turn order?
you're not fooling anybody, faggot. only a tranny would have anything bad to say about this game.
I'm partways in and my only two complaints so far is that Gustav is a bit bitch made, and the challenge-y fights are too "parry everything or fucking die" which is generally just an annoying experience when it's basically mandatory to die a few times just learning patterns, and basically invalidates the entire rest of the turn based stuff. Otherwise I'm really enjoying it, I especially like the sorta melancholic ruined beauty vibes going on with the setting and story, kind of reminds me of the peaks of FF10. Environmental art design is also top notch, I like that they'll even go hard on basic hallways like pic related. Also Maelle is very cute, I want to rape her.
thought the parry/dodge system was going to be annoying and overcentralized
most enemies don't one-shot you, and it's essentially like playing Paper Mario
I already know not to bother with Expert mode.
it's based on agility. there's a pictos that makes you have the first turn though too
brown thighs
Lune is a sexy motherfucker, Maelle hits like a truck.
If anything it's Gustave who's a fucking wimp, in the great tradition of JRPGs I guess
pirate
play for 10 hours
buy it
takes me like 15 minutes to figure out how to transfer saves because for some reason the game is called "Sandfall" in the save directory.
Frooooooooooooogs
Maelle as single target damage bursts
Lune as magic damage dealer and burn applier
Sciel is the tank bitch who can also deal some good damage and heal allies
Yep *smacks lips*... it's cute girls party time
teach the troubadour how to play
his music carries over while I listen to the Expedition Log next to him
It's seriously the tiniest things that make this game as incredible as it is
i'm considering doing this, i'm not a fan of verso
tfw Maelle starts crying in his belly and he hugs her back
If anything it's Gustave who's a fucking wimp
He can be a bit bitchy/whiney at times, but it's not like he's unsufferable faggot mode or anything like that.
This will never not be funny. Have a (You).
Brahs the way Lune‘s ass cheeks jiggle gliding up stairs in the swimsuit…. très bien
about to pick it up bros, should i go kbm or controller? hoping theres some adaptive trigger features
controller, playing this with kbm sounds soulless as fuck
Whatever you're most comfortable with. I play with one hand using kbm with the other I masturbate to Maelle.
Muslim chick
Gook girl
They just couldn't help themselves to some DEI, could they?
>Muslim chick
Bellyslut
>Gook girl
Footslut
she's so fucking cute it's unreal bros
You take that back.
Lune has promised me foot pics and I NEED them
equip him multiple +1 AP at start luminas
get his free auto-attack weapon from the Pontiff boss (Dualiso)
also take the lumina to attack first
instantly be at 9 AP to AoE Judgment Cut the entire enemy team right of the bat before they can do shit
No idea how good it's going to be later due to the weapon having lower damage scaling, but right now, it assrapes everything. Combo attack luminas also combine extremely well with Dualiso for even more AP generation.
samefag
oh shit i literally just got to that boss. maybe i'll try this, i'll need to respec and get judgment cut
The french are majority arabs now
sciel is the first to go
get the scythe that makes every sun attack a 10 points
cast Card Weaver which is a sun attack, cheap as hell and lets you make another move
cast Plentiful Harvest (moon ability) which consumes all the points from the enemies and distribute among his allies as AP
in 1 round you have the twilight activate and every party member is basically full on AP
i think i broke the game
its heartbreaking when you find out her face is actually burnt. no wonder she wanted to stay in the painted world, she can be a Stacy there forever.
cool it with the spoilers, faggot
Am I an idiot for thinking that there is not much difference between the turn based gameplay of clair obscur and games like dark souls? In the end the essential moments of the fight are when the enemy attacks and when you dodge, the rest is just padding
An absolute solid 7. The combat is very enjoyable once it clicks and there's plenty of customization in building out skills. Characters are fine. Areas and enemies are cool and it's nice to look at if you can get past the chromatic aberration and how randomly blinding or dark things are. The local areas suck explore. Too much of a hallway simulator. All in all I think this is the logical progression of the jrpg. I just wish we could still have actual dungeon in games and not just empty hallways between set pieces and a vast world to comb for items.
Does anyone manage to shoot outside of combat with a controller?
I can with a keyboard, but with a controller, it just doesn't work outside of combat.
I thought Gustave was mocapped off of Robert Patterson at times.
You didn't play the game so you don't even know that you can turn off chromatic aberration.
Charlie cox being so good really makes ben starr look bad. Some people complain about his voice in 16, but man is his stale brooding voice apparent here.
Paris is not France
Yep, zero problems. I use a steam controller though.
Can I play this with only 2gb of vram? Of all new games, this one interests me the most by far, but I'm below minimum specs.
I frankly can't believe the amount of praise the game is getting. There's no depth in any system. There's no exploration. There's not really any builds or anything that's meaningful. There is barely even a story (I'm about 8 hours in and virtually nothing has happened). The characters are MetaHuman abominations that look strange and have giant heads.
It's "fine", but I'm not sure at this point if I'll even finish unless the story really picks up fast.
Too much of a hallway simulator.
the fuck are you talking about? there's a ton of exploration, optional areas, side paths, and there's optional bosses and items fucking everywhere.
if you don't want a hallway simulator then don't play it like one
Yes it is.
When all of your most iconic cultural treasures sit in the hands of foreigners, you cease to exist as a people.
God willing your weak races will die from the earth in this century.
. There's no depth in any system. There's no exploration. There's not really any builds
i can tell simply by this that you are not playing the game
She's better as a support however.
Anybody tried this on Steam Deck? I was going to wait til I get back from working out of town in a few weeks to play it on PC, but I'm getting fomo talking about it with anons.
You haven't played the game.
It isn't literally called Judgment Cut, it's
Phantom Stars
But the setup works with all his high AP skills and free AA + Combo attack lumina guarantees you quick rank gain + AP recharge.
Just got to act 2
What the FUCK, I thought the game blew its emotional load in the prologue.
Retards manage to get the password to the secret cave that has no enemies in it and still managed to die
There's no depth in any system. There's not really any builds or anything that's meaningful.
This is false.
There's no exploration.
This is somewhat true, but you can't expect every game to be like Romancing SaGa or Enchant Farm.
There is barely even a story (I'm about 8 hours in and virtually nothing has happened)
There needs to be setup for there to be a payoff. Your typical JRPG has way more downtime.
chromatic jar
I cant do this bros...
the faggot obviously hasn't played it
Maybe it will get looked on after some patches, I would wait for now.
Exploration so far is basically - here's a big empty area on the world map with 1-2 enemies, and 5 portals. 1 portal is plot advancement, 1-2 portals are "danger" zones, and 1-2 portals are stupid 1-room areas with a boss or a retarded-ass platforming section for swimsuits. My "build" is "pick the highest level weapon and pictos" and then use my highest damaging abilities at the right time, and parry everything. I did a bunch of side content before the gestral village that was super hard and now the plot-line stuff seems to have been trivialized because I'm so strong even on Expert.
chromatic boss has a turn that never ends until you counter him multiple times to break him
That was fun
I actually like the Chromatic bosses. They're the right mixture between a challenge and the "Fuck, one of those"-feeling.
Oh wow anon you're so unique...
Did anyone do the mask boss without clearing the side areas?
Maybe it's just a placebo, but is anyone else finding it easier to parry with Maelle than any other character? I can't parry for shit with Lune and I'm 50/50 with Gustave.
Objective is this way
Run every possible way except that way
Why am I like this?
My "build" is "pick the highest level weapon and pictos" and then use my highest damaging abilities at the right time, and parry everything.
I'm gimping myself so the game sucks
With the right skill/weapon/passive combos you can do some truly obscene shit, I managed to oneshot one of the bosses.
You can go through Souls games with a broken sword due to the way dodging works, but what's the fun in that? Finding weapons with cool movesets and minimising the time you actually have to dodge is the way to go. Similarly here, you want to optimise for damage to minimise the time you have to spend parrying. The longer you fight, the higher the chance of making a mistake.
can someone tell me if this is as masonic as Metaphor?
is the twist that everything is fiction here too (also very masonic btw)?
because this shit is full of masonic imagery (checkboard tiles, adam kadmon, 33, etc.)
I also feel that.
It's placebo. My Lune is a parry queen, whereas Maelle keeps eating shit.
Am I just bad or are side bosses not meant to be fought early? I entered some cave with some pink fucker in the beginning and his attacks are both difficult and one shots me
why did they have to give maelle such a cute butt
Anon, have you never played a rpg before? If you get a glowing sign telling you that it's dangerous and the boss one-shots you that should be a pretty clear sign to come back when you're stronger.
The side bosses (Chromatics and shit) are just hardcore skill checks. They are intended to be full dodge/parry strats, maybe letting you tank one or two hits.
It said "DANGER" at the entrance, anon.
This game looks like garbage. You just can't see shit because of the retarded lighting. It is like everything is fucking glowing.
sex with Lune
If an area says danger you aren't supposed to be there yet. There's high level areas mixed into the world. The only real exception is the beach area since instead of a boss there's just a bunch of high level enemies and you can drag them around to pick up all the items without fighting any of them.
anon discovers rpgs
heal 25% of your health when attacking a burned enemy
They just love giving burn tons of good shit
I say it in every Deck thread, but if you want to play any game past 2023 then you want a rog ally X. Otherwise you'll be waiting and hoping there comes along config file changes and patches for most games.
pls respond
No, and you would be beyond retarded for trying
Is this picto easily missable or not? I want it
Of course. What did you think this was, Oblivion? Striding boldly toward some weird enemy in a side area then immediately getting punched into the outer atmosphere is a staple of RPGs. It just makes it more satisfying to come back later with a full party ready to take them on this time.
There's not really any builds
This is like going into a GTA thread and saying that there's no cars in the game, expecting people to believe you.
brown
If you are supernaturally good at parrying you probably could kill some of the early side bosses at a low level but it would take ages because you'll only do scratch damage.
Anyone managed to beat Golgra? I am at L26 and shes still shitting on me
You just can't see shit because of the retarded lighting. It is like everything is fucking glowing.
Why does your Gustave look so brown?
Oh yeah? What's your picto setup for everyone anon?
First chromatic i had to come back later for, STOP SHIELDING
i love this nigga so much it's unreal
It's in the dancing dungeon in the room with the big snake there's two side paths and one of them will lead to it.
Grosse Tete boss
Thank god you there's a gimmick that kicks in, even still it took longer than i thought
How do you beat the white Hexga or whatever it's called, the rock dude who wanted 3 glowing rocks? I break his shields easily but then he gets a double turn where he gives himself new shields and immediately oneshots the party with unblockable damage.
It looks like the biggest slop to me, I have no fucking idea what's going on with the praise.
i think i fought him before i got maelle's skill to fully break a shield, and just used a bunch of gunshots to break it every time
maybe try to get maelle's shield break ability
looks like
Like I said, that's not the problem. The problem is that the turn order keeps giving him two turns in a row, so there is literally no time to break his shields since he goes Shields Up > Ultimate Attack.
realistically what are the odds that they would have lowered the age of consent in lumiere?
as the number counts down it seems like if they want future generations to exist in large enough numbers to thrive they can't be wasting precious years
Ben Starr is only there to complete the Final Fantasy knock off, doubt they would've hired him if he voiced Tiamat like intended.
Haven't fought him yet, but the solution seems simple enough:
cast slow with Lune
equip pictos which boost speed
if it still doesn't help, respec
So do any future party members bring something to the table that would make me not want to just have Maelle in my party forever? She hits like a train every turn with barely any set up, so I can't imagine someone else has something that would beat her out.
you can say that again, maelle
i wonder if he has glowing weakpoints... somewhere... like many many enemies in the game
oh i don't know. good luck!
Bruh, this game is very French, man, especially after watching Arcane. These French folks are so dramatic. I just chuckled when Gustave pulled out the pistol to kill himself.
More importantly she's very cute
For me it was playing Might & Magic VI and finding a secret on a random wall in the very first town of the game that transported you to Dragonsand, the most high level area in the game and full of hundreds of dragons. Now that was funny. You could be level 2 or 3 clicking on it if you jumped along the buildings to reach it and have a total party kill in less than two seconds of warping there. There was a purpose, in that you could try to leg it over the water to the shrines there that would give you a nice permanent stat boost and not get blown to smithereens before you warp back.
Actually the game had a few traps like that that warped you into the middle of a load of enemies but they were usually of a reasonable level, you weren't meant to come here til you were near the end of the game.
