Why did you lie? It's not a good RPG or good shooter, but it's a good game even if it falls short of what it could have been.
It's good
>It's not a good RPG or good shooter, but it's a good game
What's it good at then, retard?
Giving you a bunch of shit to do in possibly the most kino setting in any video game ever. It's like GTA but with less slop.
I dint really enjoyed the game and the dlc and there's plenty of lore Anon Babble is just stuck in the past
You mean like Anon Babble still thinks it's 2020 when this game was unplayable trash, and now it's at least worthwhile?
its a bad RPG and a terrible shooter with a good movie inside. If a game is improved by watching it on youtube, its not a good game
It's the definition of 6/10. It's not unplayable but it's incredibly bland, shallow and buggy. The only really good thing about it is the soundtrack.
playing it as a shooter when you have all sorts of futuristic shit you could use instead
I think its the best RPG shooter where it feels like I am doing something different late game than I was early. Wish they allowed more build experimentation or ng+. Story was meh. Open world looked nice, great setting, but it was standard go to point of interest most of the time. Map traversal was boring until double jump dash and even then it was great. For a "cool" game there were not many "cool" moments, DLC got better about it but the base game I only recall three moments that I was like "oh shit"
2.0 onward is playable as fuck, there's not much to objectively complain about to the point of calling the game shit these days. Release was definitely a rough product, and the shitposting about it won't ever go away.
DLC is worthwhile but annoyingly slow to get into on replay, but base game is pretty dogshit. The game locking cars behind having to repeat the extremely basic, repeating carjacking quest over and over was retarded.
I feel the game would have been better if it went all in on being a Bullet Time Cover Shooter.
It's like 8/10. It has major flaws but it's an extremely enjoyable game to play.
Map traversal was boring until double jump dash and even then it wasn't great.
Bullshit double jump dash is amazing, you could base an entire game around this shit.
Is the gameplay actually good? I tried all 3 Witcher games and they controlled like shit
Rate my wives
It's pretty fun, but not until you get to Act 2 which is like 4 hours into the game.
Before that it's pretty much linear exposition.
Shit/10
If more of the map had some extra verticality to it, sure, but given that large swathes of the map is just roads it doesn't amount to much, and the rare places that regular open world gigs make actual good use of verticality are few and far between.
In platformer games sure, but the base game cyberpunk was incredibly limited vertically (which is weird considering it was a city). Further, with how huge the map was all it did was get me to the quick travel faster, and not in a particularly interesting way as I just spammed it. They could've easily just tripled my speed for the same effect, at least that way I'd only need to press one button (sprint) instead of 4 (sprint, jump, jump, dash).
It's okay not great. It's not an RPG so if you're expecting RPG mechanics you'll be disappointed. It's an ubisoft camp clearing game/looter shooter but even shallower where it can feel okay to shoot people in the head with a revolver and then pull out a knife and throw that at another guy's head. Like I've played games where it feels worse to shoot people, but I'd never really recommend this game to people for the gameplay as it's not going to hold a candle to any actual FPS. Someone will try to bring up stealth or something but the reality is the stealth is incredibly shallow too where you just use hacks to instant win everything. You can't pick up objects or anything like so you can't really do anything emergent or inventive, can't mess with AI in any interesting ways etc. This is a game where you put up with the meh gameplay because you REALLY want to look at the pretty graphics or follow the main story and that's about it.
but even shallower
wrong
I just look at it as a less shitty version of EYE Divine Cybermancy. An extremely overrated game that had some great ideas that cdpr was able to expand upon.
It has tons of verticality to it. You can climb most buildings if you try hard enough.
The jump and dash isn't meant for fast travel, it's meant for combat. It just happens to be extremely fun for traveling fast. Why would you want to spam one button? Just build your stamina up and dash constantly, then you can dash 5 or 6 times and then double jump to get all your stamina back and do it again.
Ty anon you told me everything I needed to know
Dude, you posted a picture of bland cubes. There isn't any value in climbing that. I'm talking about verticality where it matters. Any locations designed to be a fighting area in the base game is probably giving you about 2 stories of actual wiggle room at best in the vast majority of cases.
It has more interesting gameplay than GTA
A lot of Night city is layered. You just never notice it unless you're jumping between them vertically.
It's not like GTA at all, it's more like open world Deus Ex.
This is the kind of game that's amazing for casuals who don't have a big frame of reference for what makes actual stealth or shooting mechanics good. It just pursues a bunch of different gameplay styles in rather shallow way that's satisfying to people who don't have anything to compare to except Cowadooty and FIFA.
Yeah it's not like GTA, but it's still better than GTA. At least GTA V and IV.
true
Maybe gtav but I find that hard to believe. At least gta has more sandbox elements and euphoria physics
And a lot of it's not. Whats your point?
What the fuck do you mean the game lacks verticality when you can actually climb most buildings to the point of going OOB if you try hard enough? Climbing stuff was actually really fun for that reason because it often feels like you're going somewhere you're not supposed to although technically this is a flaw.
In GTA V every mission is a cookie cutter shooting gallery, except the shooting is shit and there's no customization other than what guns you can afford at the moment.
At least in Cyberpunk there's a variety of builds for your character, even if they're shallow compared to pretty much any RPG or shooter from the last 15 years.
The only fun thing to do in GTA V after a while is driving cars around. At least in Cyberpunk it is fun to explore the city, encounter randos, and then keep going.
Why do you think places where there is nothing to interact with, a severe drop in texture quality, and a substantial chance to break the boundary limit why do you think that's meaningful to anyone else's gameplay experience?
Most of the actual city has at least 2 layers, with the core of the city having like 3 or even 4 in the case of Japan town.
It's fun to try breaking the game with your mad climbing skills.
This is a game where they just modelled the world and then went "oh shit, now what". They never actually had a game in mind. The map is pretty impressive to look at but then when you actually play it you realise there's literally fucking nothing in it. Most of the story missions take place in their own areas. The only thing to actually do in the open world is clear enemy camps. Very, very occasionally you can come across a shootout between two gangs or between a gang and the cops, but the game's AI is so fucking barebones that the NPCs actually think they're in combat with YOU and not each other and will shout out the same canned voice lines as if they were fighting you while you stand by and watch. Peds do the same thing, freaking out as if YOU were attacking. And of course NPCs just don't do anything in general besides the basic "run away screaming" reaction that they only added after they got made fun of for having no reaction at all . You can "bump" into NPCs but running into them but they have no reaction. Even in GTA some NPCs will start a fight with you if you mess with them, while some will run away scared and others will just stay neutral. Driving around feels dead because of how huge the map is and with how little traffic there is. It's also funny driving around and realising that some of NPC cars aren't even actually "driving" they're just sitting dead still in a small group in the middle of the highway for no reason. So much wasted time on a giant empty world when the game would have massively benefited from being a hub based game with actual detail, actual people to talk to etc.
B/C the game is clearly not designed, as you said, to go to the top of these random buildings? Sorry I did that shit in Skyrim for no reason, I don't do it in every game. Cyberpunk is very clearly designed so that most combat/loot/story happens on the ground floor, sometimes a two story building, and within the skyscrapers which consist of mostly linear hallways/rooms. The two fights in the base game I recall where I could make use of elevation was fighting a cyberpsycho near the start (she was surrounded by buildings and I found a way to snipe her from above where she couldnt touch me), and a random signal tower in the outskirts of town (though to get to the top of it I just killed everyone anyway). If I wanted to play a climbing game challenge I'd play some shit like Pushing it/Getting over it/Chained together/Jusant.
That's not true. The game is clearly designed for vertical traversal and it often gives you an advantage in combat and exploration. It gives you a double jump for that reason. You don't have to climb stuff you're not meant to but you can and letting you do it and rolling with it is better game design than having invisible walls everywhere.
Yeah you don't go to the top of the buildings because that's not where the people live. Corpos live on the top level, and the plebs live on the lower levels. The lower you go on the map, the worse it gets.
A lot of places only have 1 or 2 layers, a flaw, but the game has verticality.
Infiltration missions usually have a place you can get into by climbing. Not to mention there's a lot of cosmetic loot hidden around the city, a lot of which are easiest to get to with double jumping and dashing around.
They knew what they wanted to do, you can tell. Mega Buildings literally have places that are basically complete, but you can only see them from the elevator. There's also shit like the aircraft carrier in the harbor that you can only see with cheats and going out of bounds. The first section of the game is literally just them cutting their losses with the 3 plot lines they originally wanted to do. Also remember when there was supposed to be multiplayer?
They were too ambitious and didn't have enough time to do everything they wanted.
How about this, instead of just double jump and dash, include things like wall running, grapple hooking, buildings/awnings to run along the top of, being able to burst through thin walls or fences, ways to create or make your own short cuts. Mindlessly spamming double jump dash into the drift speed boost got boring after a while.
Yeah, too bad they're not fun to play because the AI is retarded
That's for project Orion hopefully. Lots of people love jumping around in this game. Them intentionally designing more of the game for that would even better.
Play on very hard where 2 or 3 bullets kill you.
I did play on hard mode, and that's why I'm saying the game is not fun. Enemies are damage sponges, and the only time you struggle is during the first 3-4 hours. After that, it's all misery
Hard mode you can still take like 4 or 5 bullets before your health drains. In Very Hard mode you can get shot by someone with a shotgun twice and unless you have auto-heal or auto-revive you'll be dead. Get two people like that shooting at you and you're dead even with those cybernetics.
You're proving that anons point. They didn't have their priorities straight and were too focused on creating a big map and lots of environments and character writing and pretty graphics but they weren't designing a "game" until the last year or 2 of development and it shows
They knew what they wanted to do
one of the very first things that happens in the game is getting your eye augmentations replaced
game still has no night vision or torch option
night city carries the entire game. it's just that good of a setting
Oh right, then I was playing on very hard. It has been a long while since I played the game, so I completely forgot very hard was the highest difficultly.
But once again, I only struggled in the first few hours. Once you do a few side gigs, especially the stealth ones, because, again, the AI is retarded, you'll have so many resources that damage means nothing. Also, how the hell are you letting enemies go near you to be in shotgun range? Are you just sitting there and hacking in the middle of a firefight?
How aren't you avoiding being shot? Play melee instead of running and hiding to shoot from behind a dumpster. It's much more fun and risky.
Yeah, no wonder you're struggling. And no, slicing a tanky enemy while getting shot at with no option to retaliate is not fun
its a good power fantasy desu
being a katana wielding psycho who can turn everything in slow motion and wiping out a whole squad of enemies within that time span is fun as fuck
walk up to some thugs
they start talking shit
stop time, slice all of them to bits, sheathe katana
start time again
Yare yare daze...
You retaliate by deflecting their bullets while dodging, then dashing behind them like an anime and slicing them to bits. You get faster and stronger the more people you kill together in a short period of time if you play melee enough.
If you get enough money you can even buy cybernetics that slow down time. Then you can get the perk that gives you 100% crits and no stamina loss when you deflect bullets while time is slowed down.
