You fuck about. If you play it for the main quest and beeline the missions it's pretty shallow and frustrating, but for going through caves carving up bandits and stealing their shit or tromping through the woods it's still in a league of its own for atmosphere and scale.

The Bethesda hate always felt inorganic, so I knew that everyone will be back to sucking their cocks once they do one thing they like. Because to make Morrowind palatable they'd need to do serious changes to the gameplay systems beyond adding a shitty sprint, changing level up and moving some perks out of place.

Besides, most people that like Morrowind have no problem playing it already, as it has great content mods and modding it is much easier and more stable than Oblivion.

Morrowind is too complex for modern audiences, they wouldn't play it even with better graphics

That is literally the worst fucking part. This game's dungeons remind me of those randomly generated Diablo 3 dungeons except instead of blowing shit to pieces I'm bopping the same enemy with a pool noodle 5 times before moving on to the next one and doing the same thing. And then I leave with like 15 extra gold as a reward.

Morrowind wasn't designed for console audiences during development. Oblivion was.
The latter is a lot easier to make Skyrim-esque in comparison. Hell, the former isn't even fully-voice acted, and you know Skyrim kids aren't going to want to sit around and listen to voiced renditions of Morrowind's text blocks.

Oh, you might've gotten punked by the game's level scaling. I won't get into the particulars but basically the system is extremely stupid and if you pick a class that levels up based on the skills you use, because your attributes increase based on the skills you used they don't increase very much compared to if you leveled a bunch of skills that didn't contribute to your character level. Enemies also have bonkers HP scaling that doesn't take into account that your combat prowess is pretty hard-capped by the game's mechanics.
