Why should I play Clair Obscur over replaying FFXIII?

Time is limited. Clair Obscur looks like it's trying as hard as possible to look and feel like FFXIII (hallway simulator with pretty graphics, similar destined to die story, wanting to be a JRPG). Why play an imitator over re-experiencing the real deal?

Clair Obscur has much, much worse character design, so it will make you appreciate XIII more after.

I'm sure if you think very hard about it you can come up with an answer on your own.

both are based

isn't it better to play something new than something old?
There's probably only a dozen games in every genre worth playing if you weigh everything by if it's the best

FFXIII was absolute dogshit (including in character design), and is only looked back on fondly by people too young to understand that they're appreciating muddy water more than toxic waste. Anyone that earnestly believes anything after FFXII is good --and even XII is pushing it-- is a colossal moron and you should ignore anything at all that they say about games. Eat shit OP, I hated this game when it was released, I hated it when I played its two shit sequels, I hate it now, I will always hate it.

Its not like 13 at all. The level design in expedition 33 actually has loop arounds, secrets, and optional paths.

XIII, its sequels, and WoFF were good.
I'm sorry you're stuck in the past. Even worse if you're FF VI fanboy.

Why should I eat a cherry pie when I could just keep eating chocolate cake?

Typical zoomer, corridor lover

It's probably one of the best games I've played in years. It's story is good, it has excellent art design, and just wurks. Also as far as turn based systems goes it's very satisfying. It's more like final fantasy eight or nine, with a limited open world and destinations you can go when you unlock more abilities to travel it

Wow, this sounds promising.

As an avid FFVIII/FFX/FFXIII chad, I fucking love this game

If you like FFXIII, you will love this game

Interesting. So I wasn't the only person who was reminded of FFXIII while playing this game. That being said, it plays differently enough to warrant trying it.

How well does this game run?

it IS a VI fanboy

Every single time.

XIII and its sequels are dogshit

eh, dont really like vanille and the black dude (he's funny, but still bleh)
the remaining 4 are really good designs
hope we get a 13 remake, i loved the world building in this game

You can't really compare the two because FF13 goes for the colorful anime trope designs where the look MUST describe the entire personality of a character.

Thank you, Chad. I kneel to your suggestion.

This and i managed to make it not look like dogshit and run decently on the deck.

awful bait

The stories are totally different? If you already played FF13 then you know the story so a new story has benefits? I guess im not sure what you are really asking here.

motion blur

This (and film grain)...does anyone actually uses this shit?

Yes you can.

over replayi-

I'm 35 years old and after I got a job, I've never replayed a game in my life.

Why the fuck would an adult with purchasing power waste their time replaying ANYTHING? You've a whole world out there waiting to be discovered, and you choose to spend your limited time on earth replaying and reliving events you already experienced, are you stupid or something?

This is like getting married more than once. Why would you ever do that?

You can't because the brown girl will always be the though tomboy in anime. You can't because the cute boy will always be insecure in anime. You can't because the kawaii little girl will always be kawaii in anime. This is why the Asians are also employing stereotypical voices for the character types. The honorabu samurai will always sound like that.
You can't tell anything about the personality of the characters in Expedition 33 for a glance unless maybe the jailbait. If you are familiar with french art and recognize the type casting for face models you can make assumptions though but not for the complete personality type.

I played the first game in my life

I loved it

why would I play others if this is the best game in the world?

You tell me. Why would you try different things?

Do you think it's bad for character designs to reflect the personalities/tropes of their characters? I can't really tell from your replies. It's pretty typical for character designs/expressions/posture to reflect more than just the appearance of a character and, in that sense, I would argue that FFXIII does a better job with its character designs.

13 series has best soundtrack in all of final fantasy

It is not bad, but you can't compare the two. You can prefer one or the other but after a few decade of playing video games it becomes tiresome to know everything before they even opened their mouth. Some may prefer the safety of knowing what to expect so that is that.

Love jarpiggies
favorite genre

i have no interest in weeb games, and by weeb games i don't mean japanese games, i mean games made by weebs who try to emulate japanese things

Not even close

Why play an imitator over re-experiencing the real deal?

because the real deal takes 95% of the game to actually reach the good stuff

good thing it's very French, cyberpunk, art deco and film noir, and not just weeb

all cringe
and i didn't give you permission to respond to me

if you like jarpiggies, play the game you coon
haven't you played enough animu cringe and wannabe Western fantasy trash for a lifetime?

do whatever you want you double digger

Same, I love them so much I learned Japanese to play those I couldn't before.
And I too can't stand western "J"RPGs.
But I can make an exception for E33 and call it a honorary JRPG, because it's simply one of the best JRPGs since at least the PS2 era, possibly since the PSX era even.

Expedition 33 is pretty bad, I bought it on JP-KINO anon's recommendation but he has been gone for a while so I can't hold him accountable now. Although he did say it was "FR-KINO" so maybe I should have been more wary.
Anyway, I have a decent launch coming up relatively soon and I plan to use it in an instructive way. If all things go well, we will see a drastic reduction in Japan-to-English releases and a drastic reduction in the harm that said releases have done to the industry.

I actually liked FF13 at the time, but E33 is better in every way.

Expedition 33 is pretty bad

I'm still waiting for someone to say this AND prove that they played it, because even negative reviews on Steam all say that the game is "amazing" or that "everything is perfect", but they don't like the parry/evade system.

CO:E33

hallway simulator

Tell me you haven't touched the game without telling me you haven't touched the game.

dlss

deck

how?

where the look MUST describe the entire personality of a character.

Lightning is a power bottom lesbian?

This. One of the best things the game has to offer is that dungeons have optional areas, bosses and quests, and you can enter a lot of places you don't need go at all or you should go yet from the world map.

I appreciate the dungeon especially because I'm also playing Shadow Hearts 1 right now, and this game's dungeons are either literally 6 screens or 6 screens literally copy-pasted 10 times.
And the last JRPG I finished was Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X. This one has dungeons taken from Tales of Phantasia, these are okay. But the new dungeons are boring mazes like pic related. With multiple screens and you can't check the map for the other screens, so you end up running around and getting into random fights more than you'd want to.

At some point people really have to stop being contrarians for its own sake. It just makes you look autistic.

You lived long enough so the zoomers who grew up with FF13 are now adults trying to say that it was actually a good series of games

First Sonic 06 now this.

You see, anon, one game is good. The other was so reviled, they had to make a sequel to fix it. And then a third because the producer shoot fell in love with the main character.

If you're going to waste time with FF13, at least waste it with 13-2.

I'm 37 and always liked the 13 trilogy. Sure, I finished all FFs, so I wouldn't say any of the 13s are in the top5 FF or anything, but none of them is below 8/10.
And you're not proving that you're such an adult by saying "I don't like it, therefore those who do are zoomers/trannies/jews/niggers/whatever nu-speech buzzword is popular at the moment" either, by the way.
Go to some place that has reviews, like gamefaqs and you'll see people who liked XIII back when it released, reviews written in 2010. Not very likely that "zoomers" made them.
Can't comment on Sonic, because in my opinion the only good Sonic game ever released is All-Stars Racing Transformed, but I tried playing maybe 7-8 of them, including both 2d and 3d.
