Eh. I have not used Windows as a primary OS in any capacity for what I just realized will be 10 years this coming August. I never missed it. I do still have to work with it when writing software for Windows however, to make sure everything works the way it should on Windows.

Ironically, as I have been working to support software for Windows/macOS/Linux for several years now, the Windows builds always have the most issues. Every single time lol.

Ironically there was no good MS Paint alternative on Linux last time I looked for one. But it's been many years since I looked for one.

I used WSL2, it had too many quirks that added up such that it's better to just use Powershell and do things "the Windows way" when on Windows. You can even install most standard *nix tools through Powershell.

I think the only people who recommend WSL are people who have never had a reason to use the tools that WSL provides and therefore don't understand why it's inferior to doing things the Windows way when on Windows. It seems like something that windows fanboys are just parroting without knowing anything about it.

It doesn't support my sound card, performance is worse for Nvidia, overclocking is a pain in the ass and etc. Yes, I use a sound card, it's better than onboard audio and feeds into a headphone amp.

Who cares? Anyways based gentoo anon. I have been using gentoo since 2017 or 2018, I can’t remember. Software compiled for my old cpu really did run noticeably faster than one-size-fits-all binaries. Nowadays I don’t notice any difference because I’m not using a potato computer anymore, but gentoo became like a habit or a home to me that I never felt like leaving.

Just don't use modern windows. Run win7 on modern Ryzen if you want, but you'll be limited to the 6950xt and lower as the final GPU series with existing, if outdated, drivers. Not sure about Nvidia it's probably limited to 3090 and lower.
